Both camps are located at the end of the road not far from Interstate 5. Behind the gate is our property and a short, fairly steep driveway to the top. Vehicle length limited to 20ft. and trailers limited to 18ft. AWD, 4WD, and FWD recommended. The top is flat and has room to turnaround. The mountains are calling! Whether you’re here for climbing Castle Crags, boating on Shasta Lake, or enjoying the quiet, this off-the-beaten-path retreat offers a true NorCal wilderness experience. The Upper Sacramento River is just three miles away, with swimming holes, kayaking rapids, and fishing spots which are some of the closest activities without needing to drive on the freeway. The camps are on the north side (North Camp) and the south side (South Camp) separated by the small home and are shady in the summer late afternoons. First come, first serve bases. Picnic tables, potable water, and power outlets are available. Conveniences are less than 20 minutes in the little town of Lakehead. It has gas stations, and a nicely stocked general store and Camp Shasta restaurant with great food and a cool mountain vibe! This is true wilderness, yet only 10 minutes the freeway. Expect mosquitoes, flies, and other bugs. There is poison oak around, but not in the camping area, so please prepare accordingly. There are bears, foxes, deer, snakes, and other wildlife in the area. A bear box is provided for food storage.
