Please be aware that you may hear the donkeys bray (usually lasts about 30 seconds), roosters crow, guinea fowl chirp. It is startling and will wake you up. We do our best to keep the dogs hushed but we cannot stop the donkeys, roosters and peacocks from doing their thing. If you are a light sleeper, please bring earplugs or select another wonderful Hipcamp in our area, thank you! In addition to the interesting sounds you will hear, you will encounter dirt, poop and spiders. Since we are a working farm, things get dirty. We spray all high traffic surfaces twice a day but things get dirty and when it rains it is muddy. Please plan accordingly. We are centrally located between Grass Valley and Auburn, giving you access to endless recreational activities, wineries, breweries and restaurants. We have 50 or so rescued farm animals, you can interact with our pig Hank, Mojo the goat or Teddy the alpaca. At Site 2 you can pitch a tent and have access to a picnic table, fire pit, rocking chairs, and a hammock. Bring your hiking boots or your off-road toys and explore 160 acres of secluded forest filled with wildflowers, butterflies, ancient Pines and Cedars, wild berries, and wild game. Spend the day relaxing, picnicking, and try your luck at gold panning on pristine Slab Creek where not a single human or road exists for miles. Bring your paddle boards and kayaks and spend an afternoon at Stumpy Meadows, a beautiful mountain reservoir a 25 minute drive from the property. Apple Hill wineries and farms are a 40 minute drive. If you bring the off-road toys you also have access to miles of trails throughout hundreds of acres of national forest. Don’t feel like cooking? Smoke on the Water restaurant at Finnon reservoir in Swansboro is a quick 20 minute drive from the property. If you need supplies, a nice restaurant, or a day of wine tasting to break up the grit, downtown Placerville and Georgetown are both a 45 minute scenic drive. IMPORTANT NOTES:  1) To get the most out of your experience, we highly recommend a 4WD or vehicle, ATVs or eBikes. 2) The creek is at the bottom of the canyon, 1.5 miles from the gate at the entrance, and the road down is very steep and lined with blackberry bushes. We highly recommend an off-road vehicle/ATV or eBikes for easy access to creek. 3) Be aware you are in the middle of the forest and wildlife such as bear, mountain lions, rattlesnakes, and tics have been spotted on the property. Poison Oak is also common.   4) The property has cell service in the upper quadrant, however once you drop below the tree line toward the creek there is no service. 5) We highly recommend bringing a chainsaw or hatchet. There is an abundance of dead wood on the property that can be gathered for camp fires. Trees also occasionally fall on the trail which can impede access to the creek.

You reach our four acre property after a stunning drive along a scenic highway. In the winter and spring everything is blanketed in green that gives way to wildflowers and golden hills in the summer. We are located two miles from the Lake Oroville Lime Saddle launch ramp where you can find spots to swim or launch your boat for a fun day at the lake. Hiking trails and a variety of outdoor activities are available nearby. Table Mountain State recreation area, a great place to view wildflowers and waterfalls in the spring, is five miles away. Take a drive up highway 70 along the Scenic Feather River and view the lake as well as the majesty of the canyon. We are just 15 - 20 minutes from towns in three directions so restaurants, museums and shopping are all within an easy drive. At the top of our property you will find a grass volleyball court, and a batting cage to keep you busy while you are at your campsite. Other outdoor games are also available. The views of the valley at sunset are spectacular. The lower portion of our property is home to a seasonal creek that supports wild blackberry bushes as well as other wild plants and flowers. The property is home to numerous trees as well. The blackberries are usually ripe for a couple of weeks from late June to early July and are delicious. The wild grapes usually ripen in September. Obviously I can't control when the fruit ripens, but you are welcome to help yourself if it is ripe when you are visiting. We have 4 large sites with full hook ups as well as space for smaller trailers if you are traveling as a group and need some extra space. The blackberries have thorns. The area is rural so naturally we have wildlife, including bears, bobcats, mountain lions, deer and rattlesnakes. While we rarely see any of our furry friends you should be aware that they do wander through from time to time. We also have dogs. They have collars to keep them away from your space, but if you wander the property be aware they do too. We are located on the corner of Pentz / Highway 70. They are not busy roads, particularly in the evening, but they do have a fair amount of traffic in the daytime. Overall the area is very quiet and peaceful. Please help us respect our neighbors by abiding by quiet hours.

This 85 acre parcel sits just west of Nevada City, CA with the Deer Creek on our southern border and the Tribute Trail with the Newtown Canal on our northern border. Seemingly in the middle of nowhere, It is a 10 minute drive to the quaint, historical gold rush town of Nevada City, and about 20-30 minutes by bicycle along the the Tribute Trail into town, or walk to the bridge that crosses the Deer Creek to a loop trail with lovely views and wooded scenery, about 1.5 hours there and back to the campground. The gorgeous South Fork of the Yuba River is a 15 minute drive away. Great hiking, biking and swimming opportunities abound in the surrounding Sierra Nevada Foothills. The Bowman Road is about 1 + hour's drive East on Hwy 20 to Lake Spaulding, the smaller Fuller and Rucker lakes and Bowman Lake, as well as the Grouse Ridge hiking area. Nevada City has great restaurants, bars, music and theater, as well as shopping and art galleries. We offer 4 tent platforms, as well as 4 RV parking sites. There are no hookups at this point, but there is a bathhouse with potable water, flush toilets and shower with warm water.

We had an amazing time camping at Finnon Lake! We tent camped with our two dogs and couldn’t have asked for a better spot—our site was very close to the water, which made the whole stay super relaxing. Waking up to the lake just a few steps away was perfect. The campground was clean, peaceful, and easy to get around. Our dogs had plenty of space to enjoy without feeling crowded, and the whole area just felt really dog-friendly and laid back. The scenery was beautiful, and being so close to the water made it easy to fish, relax, or just enjoy the view. Overall, it was exactly the kind of quiet, nature-filled getaway we were hoping for. We’ll definitely be coming back!

It's a nice place with beautiful views. The campsites are pretty close together, with many being both RV and car sites. It's not a recipe for a quiet environment, but that's really not expected in these type of campgrounds. I saw several families there, and everyone was having fun (responsibly) and a good time was had by all. The bathroom was clean, as were the campsites. Wildlife was nice in the way of ducks, geese, and very vocal (as always) blue jays. Plenty of woodpeckers as well. My only wildlife complaint might be they have a pretty serious issue with moles tearing up the sites, but it's nothing a fox or coyote couldn't fix.

We had such a wonderful time at this campsite and truly enjoyed the peaceful serenity among the trees. I’ve lived in the Sierra Nevada area my whole life, and as a fairly healthy 26-year-old, I can say the trail is no joke. Definitely read the reviews and plan ahead—bring something to help you get down and back up. I ended up finding two walking sticks and just took my time. The views were absolutely worth it, and my three dogs had the best time splashing around in the creek! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a beautiful, quiet getaway

Amazing! My stay was so relaxing, pretty much no one else at the lake. There were deer that came through camp once in a while. The bathroom was clean and a great amenity to have, water spigots all over the property. Self check in type situation, easy to find my spot and get myself situated even arriving after dark!

We loved staying on the farm with all of the rescued animals. We even got to feed them. Our kids loved petting the animals and spending time on the farm. Host Shanna was very welcoming and kind. She even provided us firewood and helped with some electrical issues with our RV. Beautiful sanctuary farm away from the hustle and bustle! We are already looking forward to a return visit in the near future :)

Great quiet campground! Arrived at night and was a little lost at first since the entrance the the campground is not the main driveway where my navigation had shown - it was a different entrance. The campground was flat and had great space to find a good spot. The porta-potty and sink were clean and maintained. The shower was cold and open, but was fun showering in nature. Also saw some deer and heard animals in the morning. It was a great and relaxing weekend here. 🙂

I spent my first trip there and highly recommend Finnon lake campground! I was very impressed with how clean the campsites were and how clean the bathrooms were as well! The drive and scenery was beautiful and relatively easy. I absolutely loved this campground and will be going back for future stays!
