We also incorporate principles of sustainability at Willow Springs, with an on-site educational herb and permaculture garden for which a self-tour is available (free) and a guided tour upon request. Fresh produce possible depending upon season and availability.
We operate ala carte with our accommodations so we can customize your experience to meet your needs. You can choose one or more of the following:
GROUP CAMPGROUND: This one-acre fenced in area allows for guests (Max 30) to bring their dogs and pitch tents in a protected area with an expansive view. Camp cooking has never been easier, as the community kitchen is well equipped with 2 full-sized refrigerators, gas stove/oven, pots and pans, dishware, silverware, triple sink, and two outdoor barbeques. The cooks will especially appreciate our unique outdoor “dishwashing station” for each individual (even kids!) to efficiently wash their own dishes instead of using throw-away plastic for each meal. Our bathhouse has two private toilets, two private showers with hot water and a double sink. Bring your own towels and toiletries.

YURT: A 20’ yurt (sleeps 4) is equipped with a full bed and queen sofa for members of your camping group that would like greater comfort. Limited electricity is available.

There are two choices of sites to camp: At Site 1 you can park an RV or pitch a tent where you have access to a picnic table, fire pit, vault toilet, and amazing sunset views. At Site 2 you can pitch a tent and have access to a picnic table, fire pit, rocking chairs, and a hammock.
Bring your hiking boots or your off-road toys and explore 160 acres of secluded forest filled with wildflowers, butterflies, ancient Pines and Cedars, wild berries, and wild game. Spend the day relaxing, picnicking, and try your luck at gold panning on pristine Slab Creek where not a single human or road exists for miles. Bring your paddle boards and kayaks and spend an afternoon at Stumpy Meadows, a beautiful mountain reservoir a 25 minute drive from the property. Apple Hill wineries and farms are a 40 minute drive. If you bring the off-road toys you also have access to miles of trails throughout hundreds of acres of national forest. Don’t feel like cooking? Smoke on the Water restaurant at Finnon reservoir in Swansboro is a quick 20 minute drive from the property. If you need supplies, a nice restaurant, or a day of wine tasting to break up the grit, downtown Placerville and Georgetown are both a 45 minute scenic drive.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1) To get the most out of your experience, we highly recommend a 4WD or vehicle, ATVs or eBikes.
2) The creek is at the bottom of the canyon, 1.5 miles from the gate at the entrance, and the road down is very steep and lined with blackberry bushes. We highly recommend an off-road vehicle/ATV or eBikes for easy access to creek.
3) Be aware you are in the middle of the forest and wildlife such as bear, mountain lions, rattlesnakes, and tics have been spotted on the property. Poison Oak is also common.
4) The property has cell service in the upper quadrant, however once you drop below the tree line toward the creek there is no service.
5) We highly recommend bringing a chainsaw or hatchet. There is an abundance of dead wood on the property that can be gathered for camp fires. Trees also occasionally fall on the trail which can impede access to the creek.

Beautiful quiet peaceful raw land, a perfect getaway to recharge for the weekend. Stunning view, well kept, and very relaxed hosts with excellent communication. LOVE that we had the entire property to ourselves and that it was behind a locked gate. The primary RV/tent site is very level, has some shade coverage, picnic table, well kept fire ring, large water container, and a very clean pit toilet 15-20 yards down a lantern lit path. (The owner’s RV sits at the back of this main site, but they were not there during our stay, and it is very well kept so it is not an eye sore to the gorgeous views.) We setup our rooftop tent in an opening. We did not walk all the way down to the creek, but we took the path down about a 100 yards to watch the sunrise. It was easy and a mild/moderate incline. The sunrise was spectacular! A few reviews mention glass and gunshots. The property is clearly well taken care of and a labor of love. We found the main areas to be mostly glass free. Do your part and clean up after yourself (and maybe even a little extra.) We did hear some very distant gunfire across the valley, most likely target practice, but nothing that disrupted the quiet peaceful vibe. The only other noise was the occasional vehicle and a few airplanes. You’d be hard pressed to find a quieter place within a few hours of the Bay Area. As far as the road, Mosquito Rd on the way in is infamous and has some harry spots. There’s an alternate route if you’re towing or a nervous Nelly.

We had such a wonderful time at this campsite and truly enjoyed the peaceful serenity among the trees. I’ve lived in the Sierra Nevada area my whole life, and as a fairly healthy 26-year-old, I can say the trail is no joke. Definitely read the reviews and plan ahead—bring something to help you get down and back up. I ended up finding two walking sticks and just took my time.
The views were absolutely worth it, and my three dogs had the best time splashing around in the creek! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a beautiful, quiet getaway

Our stay at Elly's property was amazing! The spot was spacious, we had 6 tents and there was plenty of space between them. I really appreciate how secluded it is -- we didn't see a soul. The water tank and the bathroom stall were very convenient and made the camping experience more luxurious. There is a fire ring but no grill. The gravel path to get to the campsite is a bit rough but not too bad. However, I do not think path to the creek is accessible with a regular vehicle -- we had a Wrangler so it was a fun adventure. We saw a small bear in the surrounding area so we put all our food and toiletries in the car and had no issues. I would 100% stay here again!

Just returned from an incredible stay at the Welsh Grizzly Campsite, and I can’t recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the peaceful setting, and the attention to detail that makes this place truly special.
The site is beautifully maintained, with spacious pitches and stunning views of the surrounding countryside. We opted for the back in site and everything felt thoughtfully laid out and well cared for.
What really sets Welsh Grizzly apart is the atmosphere — relaxed, friendly, and perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers looking to disconnect and soak up some nature.
We loved exploring the nearby trails and coming back to a peaceful evening under the stars. Can’t wait to return — this place is an absolute gem!

I had a wonderful stay. Adam was very helpful and responsive. A lot of care is being out into the grounds. The hot showers worked well, and the roads were maintained well enough that my low clearance car had no issues driving to and around the site.

My group had a great time. The first site is accessible by standard car and the views are amazing and very private. You will need to bring plenty of water or a way to filter/purify the water provided in the water tank. The restroom is as good as you can expect for such a remote site.
The hike to the river is 1.5miles each way and is definitely a serious workout. If you're looking for a secluded getaway with plenty of beautiful scenery that's truly off grid (with cell reception) this is the place. I almost forgot to mention the plentiful blackberries!!! They're delicious 😋

We just returned from a weekend at this incredible little campsite, and I can’t recommend it enough. If you’re looking for a quiet, intimate spot to truly unwind, this is it. Nestled away from the crowds, it felt like our own private slice of nature.
The site was thoughtfully laid out – clean, well-maintained, and surrounded by trees that offered both shade and privacy. The site was perfect for evening chats under the stars, and we even heard owls hooting at night.
What really stood out was the attention to detail: a level spot for our 22 foot trailer, ample space, and even a nice picnic table. It’s clear the hosts care deeply about the experience they’re providing. We chose the back in site (#1) that would easily accommodate a larger trailer than ours. If you need more space choose the pull through site (#2).
Most of the site is covered in gravel and both campsites have perfectly placed electric and water hookups. ATT Cell service was only able to be accessed down the road.
Whether you’re a seasoned camper or just want a quiet retreat for the weekend, this place is a total win. We’ll absolutely be back!

If you are looking to get away from it this is the spot. I saw three people the entire time I was there and I had to drive to convenient Georgetown OHV to see them. The property is amazing with 360 degree views and a beautiful creek at the bottom of the canyon. I brought a SxS and was happy I did. The creek is quite a ways down in distance and elevation. I hope this host keeps this spot open for for many years as I plan to add it to my short list of a gems.

Loved the property, I would only suggest that the directions be clarified better. The pin is actually 2.8 miles from the actual property entrance but once we reread the directions and explored a little bit we were able to find it. Also would recommend bringing a chainsaw just in case a tree falls. We would definitely do it again though.

I enjoyed my time here - the woods were pretty, there's lots of hiking right by the campsite, and warm showers are a nice touch. It feels pretty isolated, which I like - I didn't see the hosts the whole time I was there, and there were no other campers there when I was. There's a lot of wide open space and a lot of hiking trails - it's the woods! Felt like there were lots of opportunities for solitude.
There's a structure right by the campsite that's clearly still being worked on, but luckily, no work was being done on it while I was there, so it wasn't a disturbance. The lake/pond was definitely dried up - would have been nice to swim considering how hot it was, but it's not far to plenty of swimming holes.
The main criticism I'd give is the price point—$80 a night seems expensive for access to a place to set up a tent. I've seen plenty of "glamping" options on Hipcamp that provide a tiny house or a yurt for around that price. I think about half that price would be a much more reasonable offering.

This was our first time being in a private site and I loved it. We like to go with our dogs and the whole trip was planned around them. They could be off leash without me having to worry about other pups around. Luckily there wasn’t any wildlife trying to catch their attention. We did go on a hot weekend and couldn’t have survived without a canopy. The original plan was to go down to the creek but the road was too narrow for my truck and too steep for my elderly dog. Driving down felt like Indiana Jones, EXTREME version. The truck did get scratched up from the bushes and the ten minutes I walked down and back up from the actual creek had me realizing I was WAY out of shape because my heart rate was pounding in my ears. So I guess it was too steep for my elderly dog and me. The cite was 99% clean and it bums me out that some people leave their trash behind. We did pick up some cigarette buds from previous campers and I tried to get some of the bigger chunks of glass. Luckily, that didn’t hurt the dogs. The bathroom is cleaner than regular campsites. We also got a few bees and mosquitoes but they’d come and go. The host, super communicative and helpful.
