The L3 Ranch was founded in 1974 when my grandfather bought the property for his show cows.  In 1978, someone gave him a racehorse to pay off a debt. From then on, the property was known for its Quarter horse race horses, with some of the best in the state being born right here. In 2013 he found our he had cancer and handed the ranch down to me, Travis.  While he survived the cancer, he's happy in retirement playing cards with his buddies every week and hanging out with his dog.Now the ranch is known for its horse boarding, cattle, and goats. We even hold weddings and events at the lake sometime.  My main goal is to bring the ranch in a more in line with sustainable ranching. Its a process, but I love what I am doing, and where the ranch is going.

Hilltop Yurt and RV Parking Enjoy a large deck with an outdoor shower and scenic views. The front half of the property features sloping oaks, open space, and a seasonal pond, while the backside is wooded with a path leading down to the creek bed at the base of the hill. Make a campfire, BBQ, pan for gold, and soak up the fresh air. A swing for kids hangs from an oak near the yurt, and other trees onsite are perfect for a hammock. If you are looking for man made and leveled campsites, then this is not your basecamp. This land is a gorgeous 20 acres that means a lot to us.  It's space to find your peace of mind and pitch a tent or hammock, as you would when hiking the backcountry.  Aside from complimentary ice water, potty, shower, soaps, sanitizer, sunscreen, first aid, communal fire pit, wood stove and dishwashing area) this is not "glamping".  If you are  a person who appreciates nature and making due with what the land has provided, then we are a great fit. Guests have 20 acres to find a secluded, or socially distanced spot to pitch camp. This is for people that know how to camp in the backcountry -  Without a trash can, who don’t leave cigarette butts, respect the land and would rather not be sectioned off. Flat areas are all over if you explore, and use your feet to brush aside rocks and twigs, to lay down a tent base, as we do every time we camp in the backcountry. The geography of these mountains is just that, hills and mountains. The vista at the top of the property is gorgeous and easily camps 5 tents spaced out. The property does offer many other great camping areas, and I’m more than happy to point them out. Yosemite is 30 minutes away, Don Pedro lake is 30 minutes, Cherry Lake is 30 minutes, Preston falls and Carlon falls are both 30 min away.  Downtown Groveland Is 7 minutes away, and other historic towns are not too far.  Close to many swimming holes. Rainbow pools is 15 minutes away. 10 min from the local grocery store and other local shops. Base Camp is just off of highway 120. We really enjoyed our first stay on the ranch! The spot is perfect for families with kids and dogs, trailers or tents. The extra amenities like row boats, firewood, plenty of seating, huge picnic/cooking area and flush toilets really set this place apart. Travis was a great host and made our stay stress-free and super relaxing. (The weather was beautiful at the end of October) We can’t wait to go back!

We loved camping at BaseCampByBo! The location and scenery was insane and we got to meet Bo himself! It was easy to find and Jarrett was incredibly helpful. The campsite feels isolated and gives the wild camping feel whilst being not crazy far from civilization. 30 minutes from some amazing hikes in Yosemite.

21 nights at Redwood Haven

Our time there was very private and safe. We had to leave our RV for a few days to look for property to purchase and everything was left the same when we came back. Our RV was left a few times in a trusting environment behind an electric gate. At arrival, you are given a remote to this gate to come and go as you please. Our spot was secluded and very peaceful. I would definitely recommend this rv park to a friend. I had several dogs with me and they were very happy as well. It’s a beautiful and peaceful location with plenty of room for your furry loved ones.

This was our third stay at Leards L3 Ranch. A little hot at 100°+ each day but the lake water was refreshing and a breeze and the misters kept us cool enough. We made good use of the bbq and it’s always a bonus to have electricity while camping. Such a beautiful and relaxing place which we will return to.

This site was perfect for us and our dogs. It was peaceful and felt private! We enjoyed rowing on the fish-filled lake and watching goats on the hillside. The picnic area had a fridge, fans, misters, and shade to beat the July heat. The restroom was nearby and kept clean. At night, the bright moon over the lake was beautiful, and morning was cool and crisp. Travis was a welcoming host, and the ranch shows great care. Very close to town in case we needed supplies. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely return!

Thank you so much to Jarrett for sharing his land with us. It’s beautiful, private, and well maintained. We had a rough time getting to our reservation due to some car trouble and Jarrett was very understanding and flexible with us. After an unplanned night camping elsewhere, with inconsiderate neighbors, Jarrett’s spot was a sanctuary. We slept soundly under the stars at the top of a hill with a view of endless trees. The porta potty is one of the cleanest I’ve used and the outdoor shower was absolutely refreshing and hot. The location is perfect, nearby watering holes and close to Yosemite, that we did a day of each. We loved having our dog off leash with us and meeting the camp host Bo. Overall, it was a great spot and we will be back.

Second time camping here. Always a good time. Travis is a great host. Just wish the water plants were not taking over the lake. Last year we were able to paddle up the inlet to the lake but this year it was completely overgrown. We will be back though! Thanks Travis!

Such an awesome place Jarret has! Perfect location, not too far from the park and spots in Groveland. He was a great host and was really understanding of my reactive pup I brought with me. The spot on the hill was so peaceful. So much better than being cramped with a bunch of campers at a campground. Definitely would come back.

Travis's land is a beautiful place to camp. Very private which is nice, you do not have to scramble for shoreline to swim with other campers. Turn off your phone, and fall into R&R mode for your stay. Having a bathroom that was nice and clean was huge. Travis is a very gracious, and welcoming host which was very nice. We are going back to the site. In about 3 weeks for some more family and relax time. Highly recommended.
