Experience the high desert just north of Los Angeles in Lancaster. Set at the western edge of the Mojave Desert in Antelope Valley, spring is a popular time to visit. Head to Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve to see dazzling displays of wildflowers. Look for Joshua trees and hike up for sweeping views at Saddleback Butte State Park. Head to Red Rock Canyon State Park for dramatic rock formations, or go off roading in the Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area. For water play, Castaic Lake State Recreation Area is home to one of the largest recreational lakes in California, or explore the forested trails, canyons, waterfalls, and rugged wilderness in the Los Padres National Forest and Angeles National Forest. Although only a few public campgrounds in the area offer partial hookups, most Lancaster RV parks will offer full hookups, space for larger rigs, and extras like pools, playgrounds, laundry facilities, and wifi.
