Prospector Ranch is an 1800s style ranch located right next door to the acre used for Hipcamping. The ranch is made up of their home and is also a venue for filming, photo shoots and small events. When not being used, camping guest are welcome to enjoy the area down around the authentic saloon, use the picnic area under large Oak trees and hike the property. We purchased the ranch 8 years ago and love being outside of the city in the mountains. Stargazing is a must when staying there! The campsite is NEXT DOOR to Prospector Ranch, which is our 1800s-style ranch tucked away in the Santa Monica mountains, close to beaches, vineyards, amazing hiking, biking to the beach and the city! We have a wonderful variety of wildlife that lives on our property, but the presence of Coyotes and Mountain lions in the area requires me to caution bringing your own pets, as we cannot guarantee their safety! We have Bobcats and a resident Gray Fox family with daily sightings in our meadow, rumored to once be the oldest vineyard in Topanga. Owls grace the night with their call, and Red Tail Hawks ply the morning sky, but silence is our calling card considering the chaos just over the hill!

I love glamping on Gordons land and come as often as possible. It is a haven, a serene and perfect slice of nature with a dash of plush (speaking specifically of the delicious bed and bedding). Weekend Trip to Lone Juniper Ranch

This place far exceeded our expectations! We planned on a nice relaxing weekend and seeing some animals but the amount of animals and the overall scenery in the mountains was incredible. The cabin was very cozy and warm during the chilly evenings and it was so peaceful sitting by the fire or enjoying our coffee outside while admiring the animals. All of the animals were super friendly and overall unaffected by your presence. The staff pretty much left you alone but was very pleasant and informative whenever we crossed paths. They answered any and all questions we had while dropping off carrots, firewood and tending to the animals.

The cabin itself was absolutely delightful — cozy, peaceful, thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed, and directly across from a sweet little group of alpacas. The space and scenery felt like an excellent value for the price, and my girls absolutely loved our stay. We did add on a few extras (carrots for the animals, firewood, and a sauna visit), and while we enjoyed each of these, the communication around them felt a bit unclear. I had to reach out multiple times to coordinate, and we received less firewood than expected close to dark. The sauna was also not ready at our scheduled time, and we weren’t given clear parking instructions — which led to some confusion upon arrival. None of this ruined our stay, but it did make the add-on experience more stressful than anticipated. Overall, the cabin and location were wonderful, and with clearer communication around the extras, this would easily be a five-star stay.

This place is such a gem! It's so peaceful and welcoming. The place is so cute, and has everything you need to glamp. The bed is so comfy and the heater had me cozy, and bathtub is stellar! Also the rains had the creek running, and the grass was so green on the hillsides along the trails. A little slice of heaven. Thank you!

2 nights at Deer Creek Lodge

One of our favorite Hipcamp stays so far. You’re surrounded by mountains, yet you can see the ocean through the canyons, especially beautiful at sunset. We even saw deer grazing in the early mornings, which was really special. The site was easy to get to with no off-roading needed, and the property felt private and well maintained. The gravel areas were a huge plus since it stayed clean and not muddy despite recent rains. There’s plenty of outdoor space and seating, it’s dog-friendly, and the deck was perfect for relaxing or doing yoga. The modern tiny home had everything we needed, including a fully stocked kitchen, full-size fridge, and Nespresso coffee. The host was very accommodating and responsive throughout our stay. We had perfect weather the first night, and while the second night brought strong Santa Ana winds, we still had a great overall experience. We didn’t get to use the Japanese soaking tub due to the cold and wind, but it’s a great excuse to come back. Would absolutely stay here again.

It was a really nice place to bring my family together and I would certainly go again. We were lucky to have the run of the whole place, although we actually slept in the wagon, which was warm and cozy. The bathroom was a ridiculously wonderful and unexpected bonus as it was far from what you'd expect from the campaign trip. Outdoor bath, outdoor shower heater, hairdryer shampoo, and conditioner. Everything you want. We had a really great time. Thank you.

Such a cute, private spot near the city. The canned ham may be small but it is so cozy and full of character. The bed was very comfy, and we appreciated a kettle being provided. We did need to pick up our own mugs, so keep that in mind if you like a warm beverage in the morning. The cooler is convenient, but we wouldn’t advise expecting it to function as a fridge. The space around the camper is very private feeling with trees around it. The hot tub is such a lovely addition and was fun to use. The whole property is very dreamy. There was plenty of space for eating outdoors. Although the weather for us didn’t permit using the pool, it was so beautiful to look at. The bathroom is just a short walk away, and has awesome decor. We would advise bringing sandals or slides for walking to and from the bathroom and shower. The shower is a fun experience, although it’s important to note it’s quite small (width wise) to enter into the cave area. It’s not feasible for dressing in there, so you will also need to be comfortable walking back in your towel or a robe. The road to the home is very steep and narrow. Street parking is limited but we didn’t have an issue finding parking every night, even when we came back later. There are a couple of cats on the property that visited us and were so cute and friendly. We also got to meet Morgan who was very helpful and kind! We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.
