The Lost Dutchman Italian Bar Camp is a 160 acres of Priviately Owned Patented Mining land and our priviate campground located in the Stanislaus National Forest and on the South Fork of the Stanislaus River, which runs through the camp. Camping is available on both side of the river making the Italian Bar camp a destination for campers since we rebuilt the camp from the ground up in the late 1970’s. Whether you want to relax in your campsite listening to the river, dip your toes in the cool waters or try your hand at panning for gold, I-Bar offers all of this and more. There are miles of hiking opportunities around the camp as well, from short river hikes to Trailblazing like the Miners of old. We are betting that you can find the types of hiking you are looking for. You camping includes access to the Bathhouse with commodes and showers. And yes there is even hot water. Little History: The property was discovered and first settled around 1849 as a gold rush mining camp. At one time over 3,000 people lived here and mined for gold. When the gold rush came to an end so did Italian Bar. Until over a hundred years later, In 1976 when our founder fell in love with this remote property and purchased the land and we began rebuilding the I-Bar camp from the ground up and opened it to our members. It didn't hurt that somewhere close by Our founder found a 800oz pocket of gold. Even today, Prospecting for gold is encouraged! If you want to try your hand at “Gettin on some of the shiny” let the Caretakers know! We have a few gold pans we loan out that are just waiting for some color to make you smile. Of course we have pans for sale. If you’re an avid outdoors person, carrying a gold pan with you just makes sense. We are located in Foresthill 30 minutes above Auburn. 15 minutes from the town of Foresthill. We offer off grid RV camping in the forest right off Foresthill Road, here you can experience the view of the Crystal Butte Mountains. Additionally, we offer close access to dirt bike trails. You can hike our 55-acre farm, ride mountain bikes, or even bring your horse for trail riding. We have a communal fire pit meaning - all campers are expected to share the one fire pit we offer. All roads on the farm lead back to the campground. What does off grid RV camping mean? Well, that means we have no power or water hook ups. We do have potable water access. You are more than welcome to bring your own generator if you please. Quite hours from generators and campers are from 10pm-8am Are Dogs welcome? Of course they are welcome the are family. All we ask is for them to be leashed at all times and no poop bags are allowed on the farm. Their poo helps fertilize our trees as nature intended. However, please clean up after your pets in the camping area and please take it with you when you leave. Don’t feel like cooking while your camping? No worries we have restaurants in town that would love to serve you. Lastly, the farm has no trash cans or dumpsters on site. We are a "pack it in pack it out" farm. History of the snowy peaks- the Wilson family started the Snowy Peaks Farm in 1979. When you camp with us the tallest trees you see are planted from the original family. Snowy Peaks opened the gates for choose and cut Christmas trees in 1984. Since then, the property has had 3 owners: the Wilson’s, Armstrong's and now the Jones family who are continuing the tree farm legacy. Over the years we have HAND planted (yes hand planted) well over 30,000 trees to make up for every single tree we sell during the Christmas tree season. RJ is a fantastic host and really cares about his spot and is always looking for ways to improve the usability the space. He met us the first night and guided us back into the space. He was extremely flexible with our crazy schedule and our late arrival. The site worked great for us with our 33 foot class A. The view from the end of the site is stunning and the area is quiet and very scenic. If ever in the area again we will definitely stay again.

The electric and water hook-ups were simple and easy, directions given were easy to follow and accurate and communication with her was great. We had such a great time camping here over the Fourth of July weekend! The views were absolutely beautiful—peaceful, scenic, and the perfect place to unwind. One of the best parts was that it wasn’t overcrowded, which made the whole experience feel more relaxing and enjoyable. What really made our stay stand out was the amazing camp host. Emily was incredibly friendly and welcoming, helping us get settled in right away. We had a couple of minor setbacks (as you sometimes do when camping), and she went above and beyond to help us out. You could really tell she cared about making sure everyone had a good experience. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We booked a last minute campsite at Italian Bar and were very pleased! Clean bathrooms and amazingly beautiful site, Emily was so nice! Getting there was easy though I echo what other reviews say with the last 3-4 miles being rocky/bumpy but we were able to get through just fine with my 2WD HRV.

What a lovely spot out in the country! This is the perfect place to camp if you: 1. Love peace and quiet 2. Love to sit outside and listen to birds and animals. 3. Don’t have a large party. The site was easy to find, I appreciate how clean and tidy the space was made for us: New rocks laid down recently for the campsite. Table and chairs for us to relax in. plenty of open space left for us to use. The host was so kind, relaxed, and ready to ensure we had all we need. He even has a WiFi extender if you want. Full hookups as well. So friendly too! Nights are cool and quiet. We were only two of us camping, and I could see how sound would carry at night if larger parties did not respect the quiet time requirements. All in all, we had a fantastic stay and will be booking again soon.

We loved our mini trip up in the hills away from all the noise. If you are looking for a nice relaxing stay this is the place to go. Well kept/pruned property with stunning views of the foresty hillsides. The property host Ernie was very nice as well & informed us of all the cool places locally to check out. *At&t signal is hit or miss but you can walk around to get a call or text out if needed!*

Feeling off seclusion and history but with camp support and such friendly and hospitable hosts, Emily and Blaine. Falling asleep with the roar of the river was magical. Easy fire roads to walk, especially with dog. And some mining trails along river. Great spot for kids to run around and bike. 3.5 miles of gravel road so awd recommended and add 15 mins to whatever the navigation tells you. And you probably don’t want to do the drive more than once a day, so plan ahead. I can’t wait to go back. Dog friendly too

1 night at Snowy Peaks Christmas Tree Farm

We were looking for a base camp to park our truck camper, while we explored some of the many offroad trails around the Foresthill, California area. Snowy Peak Christmas Tree Farm was a perfect fit. They have 6 large rv sites. All have some shade from large pine trees depending on the time of day. (We were in site #3, which is a pull through on mostly gravel.) There is potable water available onsite. The views from the farm are just gorgeous! The owner, Dave, came by to introduce himself on our first afternoon there and was kind enough to give us some history and educate us about the running of a Christmas tree farm. Really interesting info! The farm is right on Foresthill Road, but the road noise was not an issue. We highly recommend our stay at Snowy Peak and would love to make a return visit. RJ was an excellent host! He greeted us and helped us back in since we have a big rig and then he showed us the ropes. He was the perfect blend between leaving us alone but also being accessible when we needed him. The site was very well maintained. Neighbors include cows, sheep, chickens, and horses. Amazing view of the sunset! Cute little “backyard” area we were able to lounge around with our dogs.
