For campfires, it is important to keep them contained inside the designated burn barrels and never leave them unattended. Bernie is an awesome host. He communicated very well throughout. He gave me a little bit of the history and future plans for the "Thompson Palms Campground". It is definitely a unique place to camp. There are 3 RV spots (full hook-ups) and a ton of space for tent campers. You can choose to tuck yourself right into a cluster (or a row) of palms to set up camp if you want. Or, you can pick a spot right out in the open. The property also had a stand alone bathroom/shower available as well. It felt very secluded and offered a ton of peace and quiet. Great Hipcamp!

If you read any review let it be this one. It was an absolutely gorgeous property very easily marked spots. Awesome hosts very good produce and maintained property. The spot is right in front of a cow enclosure they are very friendly. There is a beautiful koi pond. My only grievence is that we didn't stay longer. 10/10 property.

The property is beautiful. Bernie and Hoa were both super nice and social. Fresh eggs, fruit trees, palm, wild bunnies and cows. We were there for 3 weeks, and had plans been different we would have loved to stay longer. We will be back when we are in the area.

What a slice of paradise Bernard and Hoa share with the campers. They are friendly, generous, and accommodating. Their property is just a few blocks away from the cute town of Ramona, CA! Marinade on Main is a favorite restaurant nearby.
Their property is secluded, secure, and peaceful behind a coded gate.
There are three camping sites that are quite large, and several tent sites.
The grounds are well maintained.
We enjoyed the proximity to downtown San Diego, La Mesa, Santee, and our son’s home nearby.
We were able to stay at Thompson’s Palm Farm quite a few days as there is water, electric, and septic.
We will return again and again!

This oasis was a wonderful getaway from the city to enjoy the stars, the desert and the rain.
My friend and I stayed, got rained on pretty heavily in our tent & the host was very accomodating.
Even in the rain, there are plenty of common space to enjoy from the hot tub to the sauna. We were able to enjoy some sunshine as well between down pours.
I will definitely be back again!

My friend and I had a great time here! Though the weather was bad (cold & rainy) the hot tub & sauna were amazing! We were able to cook food under shelter, play games, paint, etc and enjoy being outdoors while avoiding the rain. We spent majority of our time hanging out in the common areas and loved the hot tub in the rain!
The host was incredibly kind and accommodating.

Came in late and the staff were super helpful. Campsite was clean and the tent sites looked almost raked out they were so flat. Sound travels despite the campsites being pretty spread out but everyone was respectful of quiet hours. Ground is hard so be prepared to tie down with rocks. Definitely plan on coming back, beautiful and affordable.

Great location for visiting Joshua Tree National Park. Park was clean and well organized. Check in personnel were friendly and provided information about the area and park. Park is in the desert, so no grass, but sites were seperated by bushes. We would go back, if ever in the area again.

Mount Jacinto State Park
Most visitors to the area head for Mount Jacinto State Park, which stretches from Idyllwild to Palm Springs. At the base of Mount San Jacinto, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway lifts up and over the sheer eastern face, traveling 2.5 miles while rotating for a one-of-a-kind experience. At the top, 8,516 feet up from the valley floor, visitors arrive at a temperature difference that averages 40°F. The park houses a number of campgrounds for tent and RV campers, and more than 50 miles of hiking, biking and cross-country skiing trails are set just outside.
Idyllwild Nature Center
One mile west of Idyllwild, the Idyllwild Nature Center offers guided tours that focus on mountain ecology, local flora and fauna, Cahuilla Native culture, and the history of the San Jacinto Mountains. Nearby, Hidden Valley Nature Center opens onto 25 miles of hiking and equestrian trails.
Tahquitz Rock and Suicide Rock
Idyllwild is the hub for explorers seeking to climb Tahquitz Rock and Suicide Rock. If you do not have climbing gear at hand, bouldering is a mellower way to explore the crags. Both rocks are accessible via hiking trails from Idyllwild.
