When we retired 13 years ago, we discovered this lovely piece of Paradise in Miranda, located on the famous Avenue of the Giants in Humboldt County. Six years ago, we remodeled the basement and created what we call the “Garden Apt”. We have nine apple trees, a cherry tree, a fig tree, and a Concord grape arbor. It’s a 1/4-mile walk into the town of Miranda, where you will find the Miranda Market and gas & electric stations (well-stocked), as well as The Avenue Cafe (loved the Big Foot fries). Next door to the Post Office is The Palace restaurant, famous for the best ribeye steaks in Northern California! The Chimney Tree cafe is 6 miles south of Miranda on The Avenue of the Giants, along the river. There is a lovely trail that leads to what we locals refer to as “The Grove”, which is a beautiful walk in the redwoods just across the road on the Avenue. You can drive to a parking spot to start a walk on this path as well. When viewing the pictures, I’m sure you saw a picture of our dogs, aka our “kids”. Mojo is the grey one, and Karma is the blonde one. We also have a black cat called Magic who would love to have coffee with you in the mornings. Other residents you may see or hear are wild turkeys, quail, squirrels, foxes, and you will hear our neighbor’s chickens and ducks as well. You may also hear some donkeys braying in the distance.

Enjoy the birds in the morning and frogs on the pond at night from your well equipped tent with queen mattress and comfy comforters, sitting space, and wood counter for food prep. ( propane ok) No fires allowed at site but enjoy the large communal fire pit and terrace steps away. Our deep water pond (15 ft) is FULL and ready for warm summer swims. Wifi and electric for charging and an electric water kettle for coffee making is available at the communal space. EV charging is possible but slow off of our solar panels. Hiking trails on our 500 acre property and Lost Coast Trail at Shelter Cove Black Sands beach is 1 hour away. Ave of the Giants is 45 minutes away. We encourage 2 night stays as it is a bit of a trek to get here. Your hosts have everything you might need ( cooking wise) and can arrange for cooking equipment and utensils. Need Paella pans? Paella is our passion and we can offer a Paella Cookout customized to your dietary needs for an additional fee. We are 5 miles up a private dirt road ( 2 wheel drive is ok but caution to lower clearance vehicles) You will be deep in the relaxing forest. The 16 foot bell tent is quite large and can accommodate 2 more travelers. However they would need to provide sleeping bags and mats. A gorgeous place to land and settle in. Great access to Shelter Cove black sands beaches and town park. Hot tub was perfection, our dogs loved the fenced yard, and we had everything we needed!

WOW! Just 5 miles drive from The Garden Cabin, the Mattole river basin is an astonishing sight to see.

What a gem, hidden in the tiny hamlet of Petrolia! We stayed in the Garden Cabin which was a small cabin large enough only for a queen-sized bed, mini-fridge, and a couple of shelves for the tea kettle and some bowls. Very charming and perfect for a short stay especially when one has other activities to occupy the day. There is an outdoor shower and clawfoot bathtub with plenty of hot water, and an Adirondack loveseat with a propane fire (no wood fires allowed.)

It was the coziest cabin and friendliest people. The showers are nice and hot and water pressure is great.The weather got cold unexpectedly, and I was offered a heater for my little cabin. They have trash disposal, and a more than reasonably priced laundromat.

We really enjoyed our stay in the cabin! The campground is in a great location giving us the opportunity to tour the amazing redwood forests. Clean bathrooms and hot showers were great. The nights got chilly so we made use of the electric heater. We look forward to staying here again on our next trip out to this beautiful, special place.

The hosts were so welcoming and the yurt was super cozy. The yurt was heated so it’s a perfect year round stay. You’ll get to enjoy beautiful gardens the entire stay. Also I 10/10 recommend showering at night because you can see the stars above you the entire time. I would definitely stay here again.

This place is incredible. The ambiance created by the earthy decor inside and out was relaxing, refreshing and so connected to nature. They brought the outside in and made the inside blend seamlessly with it. Beautiful properties have an irresistible charm to them. The hot tub right off my room was without a doubt the most pampered I have been in a long while. The accoutrements were perfect for any anticipated need. I loved experiencing this space and I would recommend it without hesitation.

Kirsten and Evan were fantastic hosts and have such a beautiful farm where we were able to explore and enjoy all of the beautiful flowers, fruit trees, river spot and so much more. I love this place, such beautiful grounds and the view with the hot tub was incredible. The house was cozy and there were so many places to lounge and enjoy the view. The dog loved this place as well; so much to smell and I was so happy to have a place for her to enjoy and not worry about her escaping. Weekend Trip to Eel River Escape

Such a special place to be. The homey feeling of an Airbnb with the privacy and nature of a good camping adventure. River access is a little bit of a trek to get to so just something to note if you might not be as able bodied but sooo worth it if you can- we essentially had that section of the river completely to ourselves. Tent was well kept and everything was well maintained. Would definitely recommend and will probably be back at some point!

Good Things Farm is a truly magical place to say. Kirsten and Evan have created a truly magical little haven! They are extremely gracious and kind hosts! My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed the space. We had intended to use this as just a home base to explore Fort Bragg and Mendocino on a long weekend, but honestly we found that staying at the farm was the probably the main experience in itself. We really enjoyed the bikes that were provided with easy access to the leisurely coastal trail around the town. Mendocino is also only a short drive away (30 mins) and has gorgeous beach views. But what really made the experience so great was just staying on the farm. It's like having private access to a botanical garden! The hot outdoor shower was also a to die for experience. Two shower heads!!! If you are looking for the glamping experience than this has to be the best it can ever get! Also be sure to visit the farm box out front! Lots of really affordable and delicious fruits, meats, snacks, etc.

Weekend Trip to Ganjier Campus

The cabins were super clean and cozy, completely surrounded by trees and tons of sun. I thought it was really cool that they run fully on solar power but still have electricity and wifi so you really do get the best of both worlds. The hosts were so kind and they even left snacks in the cabin, which was so sweet. Bathrooms and showers were impressively spotless and fully functional too. The entrance road is a little rough, but once you’re in, it’s so pretty, peaceful and serene, you won’t even mind the ride up. P.S. I had no clue what a “Ganjier” was when I booked, did a quick Google later and was a little surprised, given I had my younger sister with me lol.

Fantastic home to escape to! The view, deck, outside shower and hot tub created such a relaxing atmosphere. The home is clean, comfortable, and very inviting. Great location- we walked into town/the coast for our meals. Restaurant selections were perfect- coffee, beer, cocktails, and food were all great across the board. We would definitely recommend an escape here to anyone who is lucky enough to book this home!
