Dos Fernandos' Hideaway is sitting on 18 acres in the heart of Temecula Valley Wine Country with 12 acres planted in vineyards that are harvested for Robert Renzoni Winery. There are five wineries within a mile of our location as well as the entrance to Lake Skinner just a quarter mile away.
If the weather permits, you may see and hear the many hot air balloons gliding over our vineyards and gardens. Our family acquired the land in 1990 and have planted every grape vine, flora and tree here since 2000. The grounds now enjoy mature shade trees and cypresses with resident owls, red tailed hawks, road runners and other wildlife.

We have 2 full outdoor bathrooms, one was most recently added at our Elderberry Camp Site (site 1), and is also close to site 4 our Oaks Campsite as well. (Please note our 2nd bathroom is a good walk uphill from the campsites). Our larger bathroom campers can use with a shower and small fridge to store your food.
We also have a playground with swing set for kids to enjoy.
PLEASE NOTE: Bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance.
FIRES: No fires are to be lit by the campers without verbal consent from property owner and instruction. SEE property owner/camp host upon arrival about what you may use on the property. He will provide instructions.

Macala Orchards Olive Oil, Various Jellies and Jams Pomegranate Juice all made from what we grow are available for tasting upon request. Please let us know prior to arrival if you are interested in a scheduled tasting during your stay! We can provide a tasting if we have the proper staff during your visit. Our products are available for purchase, with or without a tasting. We recommend you bring cash if you are interested. We also take Venmo!
GETTING TO VILLA MACALA: The road up to Villa Macala is a dirt road uphill, all vehicles fair well, we attempt to keep the road maintained as well as possible, after heavy rains it is a bit more bumpy but safe. Drive slow!

At 10,833 feet in elevation, this is the second highest peak in California. There are two ways to get to the summit. You can hike the whole thing or shave off about 6000 vertical feet by riding the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Either way, the summit is not to be missed.
For a real challenge try the epic Cactus to Clouds trail. It was rated as one of the hardest day hikes in the world by Backpacking Magazine. Its 21 miles take you skyward through sub-alpine forests, mountain meadows, snow-dusted crags, and gnarled granite. An alpine start is required to avoid the midday heat so be prepared and take plenty of water.
Campers have plenty to choose from. The San Jacinto area offers two drive-in campsites, four hike-in primitive campsites, and adventures for every brand of wilderness craving. If you want to backpack to the summit over a day or two try the Deer Springs Trail. This park has adventures for every brand of wilderness craving.

This little farm is being brought back to life! Once part of an 160 acre avocado farm now it is a 15 acre little slice of heaven purchased in 2019. Previously the farm had been let go and now our duty is to get it back in shape. We are making steady progress and fall in love with the land more everyday. Currently we are also planting about an acre of lavender which should be a beautiful backdrop come 2024. Time up here gives you a chance to unwind, unplug, and explore some remaining wildlife in southern California.

Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. To the northeast are views of near 11K foot snowy peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio, with rolling hills of De Luz and Fallbrook in the foreground.

We have over 180 trees on the property (mostly beautiful flowing California Pepper Trees) and have gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains and horse pastures.We offer horseback riding, goat yoga, and goat milking. You can also volunteer and help care for the animals while you are here by feeding, grooming or simply petting them.
TJ, our owner, is working her way through the race track. Our campsites are managed by Tony. He works closely with guests to expand our campsites. TJ and many of the guides volunteer hard hours to rehabilitate the horse and give them a good home. You should see how the animals flock to TJ. It gets very cold at night but the star filled skies are breathtaking. This time during our stay we had 3 kitty visitors and 3 dogs that rolled up to our camp multiple times, it felt like they were checking up on us. It was so cute. The sweet Aussie poked his head in our tent to say "you good?" haha It was so cute and they were extremely friendly and social! The black kitten stayed at our camp all night and cuddled on our laps by the fire. It was such a lovely experience. TJ and her crew have done an amazing job with this place, I don't have enough words to explain. Just see for yourself! You'll love it!! Can't wait to visit again!"

I was working in Carlsbad for a few days and needed a place to camp bc I didn’t want to drive home so it was perfect. This place is definitely no frills and that’s precisely what I needed. It felt safe and was quiet, minus a few animal noises which I do enjoy hearing. I will be back when I have to work in the area again.

Stayed at the Orange Peel site for 5 days with our 18ft travel trailer. The owners were very nice and welcoming. They allowed us to pick avocados and oranges. The area is nice and quiet. I would stay there again when back in the area. Only down side was the site didn't have a lot of extra room outside of our truck and camper.

Apple Blossom Farms is a hidden gem—peaceful, beautiful, and perfectly located. Lexie is an incredible host, and her family is so warm and welcoming. I always feel safe, cozy, and completely at ease here. The sit is surrounded by orange groves, blooming flowers, and towering eucalyptus trees. The smell of all of the orange blossoms is incredible! At night, you're serenaded by hooting owls and distant coyote howls—it’s pure magic. There are occasional car / helicopter noises in the distance but it didn't bother me at all. I slept like a baby.
You get the feeling of being immersed in nature, while still being just a 20–30 minute drive from the conveniences of the city. I stayed at the campsite where I could cook, unwind, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, then drove into Oceanside daily to surf and check out the local cafes. There are lots of nearby farm stands and farmers markets to pop into and get local produce as well.
It’s the perfect spot for nature and beach lovers who want a quiet escape without feeling too off-the-grid. I absolutely loved my stay and can’t recommend it enough.

Wow, I had an incredible stay here! The property itself is absolutely magical, and I stayed in one of the private circles, surrounded by beautiful trees and vines which was so peaceful. The hosts are so lovely, and the wine is top notch! I bought a few bottles and my favorite was the Scottish Red. Seriously couldn’t recommend this place more highly and will absolutely stay here again when I’m in the area!

Absolute Gem of a spot for self contained Glamping. Right in the heart of Temecula with 2 wineries whithin a 10-15 min walk.
Spread out over the families 18 acres there are three separate private camps wonderfully decorated in wine country style and nestled whithin the Vinyards to choose from. We stayed on the upper bluff where views were spectacular. Colorful solar powered lamps creatively used in the circle made for an enjoyable evening show as well.
The hosts Fernando and Steve provided excellent communication and a pleasure to talk to. Will certainly be back for more.
