Weekend Trip to Pine Ridge Campground

We had a great time on a weekend group trip with about 25 people. The cabin was wonderful and the campsites were just as described. We spent most of our time at the pool area which was spectacular. Overall great experience at this beautiful place. Would strongly recommend to anyone looking to plan a group getaway. Thank you so much to Steve, Kim and Harriet for sharing your space with us.

Weekend Trip to Gold Wall Ranch & Vineyard

We were lucky to be the only campers on Michele’s property, so we got to enjoy the whole campsite to ourselves. Campsite 1 has more shade and trees, campsite 2 is more open. The campsites are pretty close to each other and especially with the shared communal areas I can imagine you’d run into the other parties quite frequently. The bathroom and shower were a really nice touch and made camping so comfortable. There’s one bathroom that contains the toilet and shower. Communal kitchen area was also useful. It includes picnic tables, a propane grill, and well water (no sink). Both campsites are right by the communal area, though each campsite has its own picnic table as well. The views were the best part and if you walk out a bit there is a view spot where you can sit and enjoy a beautiful view of the lake. Amazing during sunset! Overall we had a nice time and the hosts were very welcoming and responsive.

Weekend Trip to Gold Wall Ranch & Vineyard

My friends and I stayed here and couldn’t have asked for a better spot. It’s a shady, private spot surrounded by majestic oak trees, just a short walk from the bathroom and the communal area. At night, we were treated to incredible views of the moon and stars. The amenities really made the experience stand out. The availability of electricity and a gas grill in the communal cooking area made prepping meals easy, and the fire pit gave us a cozy spot to gather and stay warm at night. Michelle, our host, was incredibly kind and attentive—she even took the time to personally walk me through the amenities when I arrived after dark. Her hospitality and the care she’s put into the property were evident throughout our stay. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind in nature without giving up comfort or convenience.

My stay at the Yosemite RV park was really nice. It’s a really beautiful spot and quite peaceful. The place is a little rundown, but I still enjoy it there.

7 nights at Sleepy Stag RV Spot

RJ was an excellent host! He greeted us and helped us back in since we have a big rig and then he showed us the ropes. He was the perfect blend between leaving us alone but also being accessible when we needed him. The site was very well maintained. Neighbors include cows, sheep, chickens, and horses. Amazing view of the sunset! Cute little “backyard” area we were able to lounge around with our dogs.

Weekend Trip to The Painted Lake

This was my first experience camping on someone’s personal land. I had the opportunity to camp with my friend and her group of friends. Jeremy provided very detailed instructions for entry and location on the property, but even if you get confused he is super helpful and such a chill guy! We even met his son Hawk who helped make a fire pit for us! We camped on the horse and lake view site, which is right at the chicken coop. *Bonus* we were allowed to collect eggs to enjoy 😊 Something to look ahead is for weather, depending on your vehicle because there are a few steep inclines that get slippery in the rain. Also, bring shoes to hike in to go down to the lake as that also has a steep incline. Being able to pet the animals made the hiking worth it! We got to play with Juno and Luna along with the goats, horses and chickens. Side note, there are a lot of fun spots for photo ops. I would definitely camp here again!

Awesome time With a great view! Host was so kind and accommodating. We had so much fun kayaking. Convenient that there was a chicken coop with fresh eggs just a 3 min walk away. WARNING there is a semi steep hill dividing the tree house from outdoor kitchen/shower/portapotty. Car is parked maybe 4min walk away from treehouse and you have to cross the hill to reach the car, so just keep that in mind.

We love tiny houses and cozy accommodation and this one is one of our favorites. We stayed for one night just for a quick getaway for my son’s bday. We enjoyed our stay, of course, the comfy bed, clean restroom, and nice communal space for BBQ and firepit. The beautiful views, the serenity of the place, the stunning sunset and sunrise, a taste of star gazing, and the train ride make this trip a memorable one. Thank you Michelle and Patrick for being such an awesome host, very accommodating and warm. Your place is a gem! We’ll come back again.

Weekend Trip to Yosemite Westlake Camp

It was very relaxing. Everyone is so friendly there. It’s nice to have access to showers and bathrooms while camping. They gave us the opportunity to stay in one of their RV spots with power. They gave us very good directions on where to go and places to see. If you see a black-and-white dog with no name tag but a collar don’t be alarmed. He is very friendly. His nickname is sticks. He loves to bring people sticks to have them throw it for him. He will play all day long and hang out. My wife and I are already planning our next trip to this campsite.

Jeremy's land was so beautiful! I loved kayaking in the lake, waking up to gorgeous sunrises out the windows, and petting the dogs, goats, horses, chickens. Jeremy and his whole family were really sweet to be around when we did run in to them on the property, and as a host he was quite helpful if we ever had questions or requests. Would definitely stay here again.

I had a truly wonderful stay at Wondernut. I’ve been raving about it to anyone who will listen since I returned to the East coast. Eve and Matt and their whole crew were so welcoming. I loved sitting with everyone in the open kitchen/gathering space each night and getting to know such lovely folks. They answered my millions of questions about sheep, dairy, farm-life, etc. and I an up close look at how everything runs. (Bonus was spending time with all the sweet brand new lambs as I was there in April). One thing that stood out to me was how SAFE I felt as a woman traveling solo. They’ve fostered such a strong unique community - it’s a kind of place I think the world definitely needs more of! I loved my little cabin. The bed and down comforter were a DREAM, so peaceful. I loved the semi-outdoor toilets and the twinkly-light shower with a beautiful view felt luxurious and private/secure. There was plenty of room for me to store my groceries and the kitchen has everything you could need! I had only 3 nights here and another 3 nights at a popular “glamping” type place, and honestly I wish I had spent the entire time at Wondernut instead. 10000/10, don’t miss out on this gem. Thank you Eve and Matt for creating a genuinely magical space.

3 nights at Heart valley ranch

Beautiful piece of land with a refreshing swimming hole and river nearby! We went for 1 night and loved it some much we came back the next week for 4 days. We tent camped at the Willow site with 3 kids in April, there was plenty of shade which would really be appreciated in summer. It's a short walk to the compostable toilet and swimming hole. They've installed some solar lamps which help illuminate the toilet and campsite nicely to locate them at night. There is also an authentic Kazakhstan Yurt you stay at. Lots of great animals roaming the land (llamas, goats, cows and chickens) You can buy treats to feed the llamas. The hosts were amazing! Everyone had a great time!

The tiny bathroom includes a metal tub with a copper shower and a compostable toilet. Towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided. Situated a mere 10 minutes drive away is the pristine Finnon Lake, inviting you to indulge in a refreshing swim or a tranquil paddle amidst breathtaking scenery. Wondernut Farm

Wondernut Farm is an upstart, entirely off grid, working farm-stead being built from the ground up. We breed milking goats and sheep, heritage pigs, and are in the process of converting to a grade A dairy and creamery! We use organic practices, management intensive rotational grazing, and dryland pasture management. We sell our animals locally so that others can have their own milking and meat animals. Our 110 year old hay barn and the roof of the former lumber mill were all we had to work with in getting off the ground. Being first and foremost a functional farm, we can't help but offer a somewhat warts-and-all look into everything it takes to be working to our goals. Our hearts are, and always will be, educational and local community focused, and we work closely with farmers and friends alike in better understanding our innovative animal husbandry, power, pasture and water systems. Whenever we have time, we'll afford the same time and opportunities to interested hip-campers. Our location is stunning and historic, and the beauty of the wild, natural landscape is powerful, yet offers easy access to both Yosemite Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away. Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets. Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks. Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

It’s the spot for people heading up to Kirkwood for skiing or nature, lakes, and fishing. Our place offers a fully operational commercial style communal outdoor kitchen, a small stage, huge redwood, slab dining table, and 14 acres of camping area. It also offers a beautiful 8 foot hot tub stock tank with the freshest clean crystal geyser water. These are all communal spaces. Please keep that in mind when booking and be prepared to meet some great folks. Be kind to one another and enjoy the experience. Come enjoy the fresh air and quiet at this relaxing and serene 3bd/1.5 bath 1968 groovy A-frame cabin. Great WIFI! Located on 1.5 wooded acres, the backyard is the Calaveras Big Trees State Park. The cabin has a huge redwood deck surrounded by blooming Dogwoods during the springtime. Our year-round Moran Creek runs on the edge of the property. All wood inside: tongue-in-groove pine ceilings and walnut paneling, large wood-burning stove which has three flat places to cook. We offer a fully stocked kitchen with vintage pink and white formica counters and breakfast bar which seats four. Dining on resin-topped circular table made by designer of first chair-lift in Squaw Valley. Gigantic redwood wrap-around deck set up with comfy furniture, table and chairs to enjoy the bliss of Big Trees-Calaveras State Park. On the main floor there are two bedrooms: both with queen beds, a full bath with large bathtub/shower; in loft: one queen and one twin, and a 1/2 bath. Extra airbeds are located in the closet. Sofa is down filled. Retro decor with orange glass lamps, kilim rugs and down comforters on all beds. Vintage electric keyboard and full stereo system. Can sleep 7-8.
