This place is a perfect stay close to the Redwoods. Beautiful mountain and river views. Private river access. The outdoor shower was my favorite part. Jacob was responsive and helpful. I can't wait to plan my next trip.

3 nights at Azalea River

Riverside Gem is truly a jewel. Overlooking a beautiful segment of the Smith River, private, close to Jedediah Smith Redwoods and surrounded by beautiful nature. Cabin is minimalist and tidy, bed is comfy, portapotty is clean. The ladder to the sleeping loft is a bit uncomfortable to use and there’s poison oak around. We would come back.

Absolutely loved my stay here. Hosts were so kind and accommodating. I was taking a quiet break between festivals I’m working at and my cool, quiet and comfy stay at this farm was replenishing and lovely. The animals are sweet and the water tastes great. Such a great place to cool off from inland summer heat and gather oneself like a mini-retreat. I hardly left there because I slept well and it was so peaceful. It’s an oasis in these hot and frenzied conditions of modernity! I will definitely return when making this circuit of gatherings throughout Oregon and NorCal next year!

Ryan’s land is very private and quiet with the exception of the water running nearby. I ended up getting there very late and could not find it at first. Make sure you download an off-line map and don’t be like me. Once I found my spot I was a happy camper though. I really think the water helped me sleep better than I have in a long time. Highly recommend.

1 night at Azalea River

This spot is as beautiful as the pictures show. The porta potty is located in the upper field, a few mins from where the tiny home is. Jacob provided good directions so it was easy to find. The tiny home is small but suited myself and my friend well. The 2 burner stove and fridge worked well for our food needs. The ladder to the loft is leaning against the loft, and not attached to anything. My friend and I both did not feel comfortable sleeping up there, concerned about needing to pee in the night and falling. We slept on the pull out futon which was sufficient. The hot water worked for 1 shower, but not for 2nd shower we attempted. the propane tank seemed either rusted shut (even though we been able to close and open it the previous night), or out of propane. The view was wonderful, just know that the services are a little rustic.

I loved camping at Free Your Mind campground. The host Kirk was absolutely amazing. A near by pond and stars so bright they can lead the way. The other campers were incredibly lovely, and this place certainly attracts a great crowd. We stayed at the Fisher site and it was perfect and tucked back. 10/10 we will be back.

5 nights at Klamath’s Best Kept Secret

We love our stays with Patti. Our site had a full hook-up. The grounds are well maintained and easy to maneuver even with our 35 ft. fifth wheel. Patti is a wonderful host. You will come as a guest but leave as a friend. Her camp hosts are also very friendly. We spent time with Mike by the campfire. He provided us with numerous great suggestions on places to visit in Oregon. This is our second visit but not our last!

Weekend Trip to Lower Lake Farm Camp

Jose and Carolyn provided a phenomenal experience on a gorgeous property only 1 mile from a gorgeous, "locals vibe" beach. They were very responsive, welcoming, laid back hosts. We will absolutely be going back for all of our future beach trips. 20/10 recommend.

3 nights at Mystic Forest Campground

What a fantastic place to stay! Lots of things for the kids to do around camp and the tent spots were separate from the Rv / trailer spots. I hate tent camping on a baron spot designed for trailers. Add to that no generators and I was able to tent camp and not even know there were trailers just around the loop. Also, the folks who run it were super awesome! I just can’t say enough! We will for sure be back. Please try to keep tent spot 15 open for us ;-) lol

Weekend Trip to Mystic Forest Campground

Our time at Mystic Forest ended much too soon! The campground is gorgeous, with a wonderful walking trail that goes across the back of the property. Our site, #8 was phenomenal with the walk through redwood tree that a small bird calls home was incredible! The tent sites feel secluded and tucked away in the trees. Should find ourselves close to Klamath again, we would love to be back. Thank you Patrick!

Weekend Trip to Camp Jade River

Great spot to set up camp outside the Redwoods. Layout is perfect with views of the stunning, clear river, a large area for tent set up and a fire pit. We had a lovely time with our 1 Y/O dog. Plenty of space for off-leash. One thing to note, it’s a it’s from a residence. Makes it feel less quaint but still works.

Weekend Trip to Ossia Village Farm

Ossia Farm was awesome! My girlfriend and I stayed for two nights. Dar was an awesome host--we enjoyed the 'treble clef' layout of the farm (search it on Google Maps!). We tented near the middle of the property and woke up to the sounds of singing birds, chickens, goats, and nearby horses and cows each morning. We took part in the morning feeding of the goats and cows which was great. The bathrooms were clean, and the outdoor kitchen space was fun. We enjoyed the shared campfire in the evenings. The area is a short drive from the beach and forests--you could easily do both in a day and then some. We look forward to returning in the future and seeing how Ossia Farm has continued to evolve!

3 nights at Cornerstone Ranch

We stayed in our 32' travel trailer at Cornerstone Ranch and it was great! The spaces were big enough to be able to situate our trailer however we wanted. My impression had been that the spots were spaced a bit farther apart and allowed for a bit more privacy, but I have no complaints as it was still a nice spacious and quiet stay. Location is great as well, as the ranch is located only a few minutes from Gold Beach and the 101. The property is gorgeous and the views from the camping field are stunning. Highly recommend for a peaceful retreat in the area!

FYI, Hipcamps map for site locations is not correct. Two go next to the driveway and the other four follow the creek. From the South GPS is very accurate to our driveway. Coming from the North, GPS may drop you a few driveways away as that is the property line. Keep driving about another 1/8th mile until you see the large red "Cornerstone Ranch" sign. That is our driveway. Welcome... The ranch offers 6 different campsites. Campfires are allowed (outside of burn bans), and there is a toilet in off season and Port-A-Potties during the summer on site as well. Reviews from guests: "During the night we could hear Elk and the nearby nature! When we woke up we got to visit with the horses, use the really clean port-potty, and chat with Bonnie and Chris the Hosts. They have tons of recommendations, but our favorite was the Indian creek cafe across the river. The areas so great and clean and the host cares about their guests! Would recommend!"

(it is the epicenter for documented sightings). Most visitors to the area are interested in spending time in the redwoods – we are about 30-45 minutes from the nearest entrance to Jedediah Smith Park, home of Stout Grove and other beautiful redwood hikes. Driving into Crescent City, about 45-60 minutes, winds you right through the "gentle giants" on your way to or from Redwood National Park. We are self-sufficient, and sustainable in a relatively primitive set-up, especially after the fire this year. The campground is remotely located on private property and perfectly located for excursions to the Pacific Ocean, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, the Smith River National Recreation Area, and the Pacific Coast Ranges and mountain lakes such as the Devil's Punchbowl, Buck Lake, and Raspberry Lake. Relax and free you mind while camping on 120+ acres of private property under starry skies with almost no light or noise pollution. You are not alone on the mountain as other people live here in the wild. You only have access to the campground and a nearby pond. A locked gate with code access. The road to get there is two and a half miles up the mountain, the first mile is paved and the other mile and a half is gravel. The road is maintained by the county and used daily by others that live and work here. In the surrounding area you can enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, surfing, beachcombing, birdwatching, and countless other outdoor activities. French Hill Trail is a few more miles up the mountain road. The campsites have picnic tables and fire rings, and campers are provided with 5 gallons of potable water. An outdoor, COLD-water Artesian shower, out in the open mountain air with the wild things and an outhouse with a compost toilet are also provided. Bundles of firewood are available for an extra charge when you book your campsite. The campsites are set within a deciduous and pine forest at about 1913 feet in elevation. There is a pond on the property, but its purpose is for wildlife habitat ONLY, so water activities are NOT allowed. NO swimming, NO fishing, NO boating, NO trapping, etc. The wild things live here! The property owner has a dog, three cats, and a menagerie of yard birds such as turkeys, peacocks, guinea hens, chickens, ducks, geese, etc. They do make noise! Kirk has lived off-grid for over twenty years and holds a wealth of information about the Gasquet/Del Norte County area. Perhaps the most interesting feature of the property is that it has had documented Sasquatch encounters over the past twenty years that have been published in "Tribal Bigfoot" (D. Paulides 2009). Kirk can tell you about his experiences with this and other phenomena on the property.

Redwoods Bend Retreat

The Redwoods Bend Retreat is a place to get away from it all. Located on the Yurok reservation right on the Klamath River just outside Orick, CA, we are "off the grid", through a Redwood forest and over a mountain down into the Klamath River valley. We have a 5 acre meadow, and orchard with 50 trees, peaches pears, apples, cherries, plums, pluots, apricots and grapes. We are right on the Klamath river. It's a great place to come and recharge your internal batteries. There is no cellphone service and none of our sites have internet service. Our Main House was built in 1952 and retains the flavor of the 50’s. It houses a kitchen, dining hall, a living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom with a bathtub and shower. Our log-built Lodge overlooks the Klamath River with 3 bedrooms, a full kitchen, bathroom and wrap-around covered porch. Our Pumpkin and Blue Cottages. They are close to the double Yellow Shower house and toilets, and they have hot and cold running water, a propane cooktop, and a wood stove for heat. We do NOT have refrigeration, and our solar batteries or generator provides us lights at night. Campers who use our Cottages may use their own sleeping bags, but we have beds with mattresses and pillows and clean bedding. We also have an Upper Barn bedroom and half-bath rental. Our two-story Riverview Yurt appeals to folks who want a full kitchen, a private shower and flush toilet overlooking the Klamath river from our 50 x 50 foot upper deck. Luscious to sit outside and watch the river flow by during the day, and to let the water lull you to sleep at night. For families (up to 8), folks who like to fish, or old friends who just want a very special get-away. Each of our six campsites have a picnic table and a fire pit. Our Maple River, Grotto River and Pepperwood River sites overlook the gorgeous Klamath River. Our Morning Meadow, Orchard Meadow, and Deer Meadow sites are close to our 5 acre meadow where blacktail deer graze in the evenings. We have a Yellow double Shower House with two separate sides, each with a toilet, sink and shower and on demand hot water, so folks don't have to wait. There's also a new Camp Shower at the corner of the orchard for our campers, along with two outhouses for camper use, one at the bottom of the road down to the meadow, and another in the woods just past Deer Meadow Camp. We see lots of wildlife; silver foxes, a bald eagle and a family of river otters downstream, vultures, blue heron, occasionally an osprey will fly overhead clutching a freshly caught salmon and call to each other to brag about it! There are rare sightings of timid black bears who run from humans, but sometimes can be seen grazing in the meadow with the black-tail deer. We're surrounded by old logging trails made by the lumber companies 80 years ago when they clear cut the old growth redwood on our side of the mountain, and now it's completely reforested with 200 ft tall Doug Fir, Madrone, Cedar, Oak, other pine species and Pepper wood trees, and we have written permission from the Green Diamond company to allow guest to hike on their adjacent properties.
