We’ve survived a county quarantine(2018-2019), the COVID Lockdowns (2021-2022), the Lake Fire (2020), and the Hurricane Kay burn scar debris flow and flood (9/11/22), depending on hard work and strong family and community bonds. In addition to camping and educational tours, we host private and community events, grow & sell produce and eggs, hatch and sell chicks, rescue ratites, and support the local bee population (which gives us RAW honey to sell), and are working to open a private U-pick-by-appointment orchard. Our site is easily accessible by any vehicle, as it is less than 1 mile from a paved road. We are just 30 miles from Red Rock Canyon State Park, which is stunning to explore and hike around in, and about 10 miles from California City Golf Course if you're interested in golfing one day! Our property is also just about 20 miles from Mojave. Hiking, swimming, and golf are among the top activities to do nearby. The Tongva Tribe lived on this land for many centuries, years ago, and we work to respect and honor this land. We are passionate about welcoming visitors who share this spirit. Sustenance Desert Camping is a place to find a peace and healing.We, as your hosts, will greet campers upon arrival and then leave campers to enjoy their stay and privacy. We enjoy getting to know Hipcampers, so if you have any questions or would like suggestions, we are always happy to help. However, we do not live on site.We hope you enjoy the wide open space and the beautiful night sky as much as we do!About the Listing:Come pitch your tent, park your car, or park your RV on our property and set up camp at the most idyllic and secluded campsite. We do have multiple sites, so you should expect to see other campers in passing. However, the sites are spaced apart and the surroundings are quiet, so you will have all peace and serenity the outdoors has to offer. For RV campers, we have a water hookup (with a 6 gallon water tanks and hand washing stations available for an additional charge), and we do allow generators. For all campers we provide water jugs/bottles for drinking water, but you can always feel free to bring your own as well, as there is no potable water source on site. We also have a portable toilet with a hand-washing station for our guests' comfort. There are altars at each end of the property that you can adorn with anything that enhances your spirit or makes your camping experience better. We also provide a 17 foot dome that can be utilized for shade, yoga or dining - get creative!Additional Details to Note:- Check-in is after 2pm and check-out is before 12pm- Things to bring: toilet paper, firewood, trash bags, fire extinguisher (if you'll be building a fire), cookware, camping chairs could also be a great idea.- We do not have wifi available on site but cell reception is steady, so you can stay connected if you'd like. Feel free to unplug, though! - There is no fire pit available, so please use caution when building a campfire. Terra Vivus

Welcome to a great balance of being away from civilization, engulfed in nature with peace and quiet yet also being 30 minutes away from the nearest city. Terra Vivus is Latin for "The Earth is alive." Chipmunks, crows, doves, crickets, coyotes, sparrows and many other creatures call this land home. This is protected land called a Significant Ecological Area mostly because of the thousands of Joshua Trees. 25% of all revenue goes to restoring, preserving and enhancing the existing ecosystem. Come experience and contribute to the preservation of this beautiful landscape. It can be windy at times, in order to mitigate this I recommend using your car(s) to block the wind. Local markets also sell neck gaiters for face protection. Release your inhibitions to wind! There's about .4 miles of dirt road to get to the property, there are some dips to watch out for but I come out here in a little Prius so it's manageable. Overall, there is an element of seclusion but occasionally people do drive by on the dirt road. I would rate the cell phone service a 7/10, it's pretty solid but can go out at times.

The property is located approximately 12 miles out from the California City area and California City Blvd. Rhe properly is 2 acres with a lovely campsite that has a shaded picnic sitting area as well as a wood burning bbq station. The campsite is at the top of the property and is marked as you drive in via Rutgers Road. Visitors are welcome to bring pets, enjoy food and drink. Our grounds comprise five individual campsites and a dispersed camping area, each outfitted with a solar lamp to help guide your way. There's plenty of space at each site for your tent and/or one vehicle. We also have an outhouse shared amongst the sites. During daylight, soak in the beauty of the Mojave Desert's natural landscape. Watch out for the local wildlife like quail, roadrunners, and jackrabbits. As night cloaks the desert, you're presented with a mesmerizing spectacle of a starlit sky, making it a dream location for stargazers. During the spring you will be immersed in a sea of wildflowers. Adding a unique allure to our campsite is the 'Door to Nowhere'. This freestanding door amidst the desert makes for a whimsical photo opportunity and a conversation starter. Double Triangle Ranch

When gold was discovered in the Kern River Valley, most of the native tribes were displaced but their decendents here in the KRV keep the history alive at the Nuii Cuni Center at Wofford heights, a short drive around the lake from us.

An energy efficient Uniquely designed home that is off the grid and has a very green footprint with solar and windmill to charge batteries. Oak and pine tree covered acres with fitness and nature trails around the property. Each level campsite with picnic table is designed for privacy with plenty of distance between sites and mountain views in every direction, along with an optional gas log fire pit and BBQ. There is plenty of clean, non potable drinking water, custom built toilets and optional hot showers, limited electrical use, cell phone charging and low power use devices as I am off grid. There is a fitness and nature trail on the property and Pacific Crest trail is approx 20 to 30 min drive, Mountain park which has many miles of hiking trails and an Indian reservation with hikes to many petroglphs. Things to see are the World famous Tehachapi railway loop, historic downtown, vineyards, mountain spirit center a Buddhist temple, glider rides, bicycle riding and fishing. There is cell service around the property but intermittent at the campsites.

Run by three generations, our ranch has been in our family for more than 70 years. We opened our doors to the public in 2014 to help support feeding our animals, bred and rescued, after the Powerhouse Fire almost burned us out. We’ve survived a county quarantine(2018-2019), the COVID Lockdowns (2021-2022), the Lake Fire (2020), and the Hurricane Kay burn scar debris flow and flood (9/11/22), depending on hard work and strong family and community bonds. In addition to camping and educational tours, we host private and community events, grow & sell produce and eggs, hatch and sell chicks, rescue ratites, and support the local bee population (which gives us RAW honey to sell), and are working to open a private U-pick-by-appointment orchard. We are all animal lovers, and conservationists, and try to do our part to ensure our children inherit a healthy and viable world. This is our home where we live, work, love, and play. We enjoy sharing our space with visitors who we hope learn about ostrich and make some great memories.

Welcome to a great balance of being away from civilization, engulfed in nature with peace and quiet yet also being 30 minutes away from the nearest city. Terra Vivus is Latin for "The Earth is alive." Chipmunks, crows, doves, crickets, coyotes, sparrows and many other creatures call this land home. This is protected land called a Significant Ecological Area mostly because of the thousands of Joshua Trees. 25% of all revenue goes to restoring, preserving and enhancing the existing ecosystem. Come experience and contribute to the preservation of this beautiful landscape. It can be windy at times, in order to mitigate this I recommend using your car(s) to block the wind. Local markets also sell neck gaiters for face protection. Release your inhibitions to wind! There's about .4 miles of dirt road to get to the property, there are some dips to watch out for but I come out here in a little Prius so it's manageable. Overall, there is an element of seclusion but occasionally people do drive by on the dirt road. I would rate the cell phone service a 7/10, it's pretty solid but can go out at times.
