It is most famously known for our groves of pistachios and the famous Baghdad Cafe which was featured in the 1987 film Baghdad Cafe. Our property happens to be 1.5 miles from the famous Baghdad Cafe which makes a quick visit to the Cafe incredibly convenient.
To celebrate our Pistachios, come join us the first Saturday of every November for our Pistachio Festival which boasts lots of vendors, food, and fun!
Speaking of festivals, if you like large firework shows in the sky, then you'll want to be sure to book a spot here every July 3rd for our big 3rd of July Festival which again, is home to lots of vendors, food, fun and an amazing firework display which we happen to have front row seats to. You won't have to worry about parking if you're already here!
Do you love celestial events? If so, you'll want to book a site here between July 17th and August 24th for the 2025 year, to witness the Perseids Meteor Shower. Our night skies are also one of the best views for many Space X launchings as well as just simply stargazing. Even though Deep Creek has never had any known cases of amoeba outbreaks, be advised that the warm waters around hot springs can carry a sometimes fatal amoeba.
*Although children are permitted at most sites on the property (children are not permitted at the cabin or spring pool sites), we do not recommend bringing them due to occasional nudity that may be seen in the area and the degree of difficulty for the hike. In order to be prepared with the correct gear to make the hike to the hot springs and know the USFS rules that apply to the area, please educate yourself before coming by visiting the USFS website page for the Deep Creek area. Know before you go!
The Deep Creek Hot Springs Campground is part of the historic Bowen Ranch property that was homesteaded in 1924 and has been the camping and parking area for the Deep Creek Hot Springs for nearly a century. Holcomb Valley Ranch invites you to kick back and relax on our private, 400+ acre ranch in the San Bernardino Mountains. Centered around a 100+ acre meadow, filled with horses in summer months and surrounded by thousands of acres of mountainous National Forest.
Just 15 minutes from Big Bear Lake - a large recreational, fresh-water lake for summer swimming, boating, skiing, fishing and other super fun water activities.
The Ranch feels remote and private. Yet is only four miles to the town of Big Bear with shopping and restaurants. Also in close proximity to incredible rock climbing at the Pinnacles, seemingly endless hiking and biking and some pretty epic off-roading 4x4 trails.
Each campsite is approximately one acre, and generously-distanced from neighboring campers. Amenities include its own fire ring with grilling grate and picnic table(s).
The campsites are both cozy enough for 2 or spacious enough for large groups and can easily accommodate a mix of RVs, camper vans and tents.
From June to October the 100+ area open meadow is filled with horses grazing and galloping about (please don't pet or feed!) A four-seasons destination, the Ranch has year-round experiences with warm summers and snowy winters. An excellent basecamp, within close proximity to the lake, ski slopes, Pinnacles, hiking/biking and off-roading trails.
After a day filled with adventure or ultimate relaxation, be sure to enjoy the breath-taking sunsets over the meadow.
The evenings blanket guests with a sea of stars. Toast up some s’mores and warm up some hot-coco over a beautiful, crackling campfire. Remember the s’mores and always follow the “Leave No Trace” principles. There are large trash bins by the entrance.

Please note:
OHV’s are allowed. They count as one of the allowed vehicles per campsite and must adhere to the speed limit (10mph) and remain on established camp roads while on the property. They may not be driven from 8pm to 8am. It is strictly forbidden to ride your vehicles through the forest, meadow or off any established roads on or off property. Please research which of the surrounding forestry roads allow for your vehicle type to be driven on. Campsites on the west side of the meadow (F, G & H sites) are partially accessed by a forestry road that does not allow dirt bikes.
Horses: The horses which may be roaming the meadow during your stay are not property of Holcomb Valley Ranch. When horses are present, guests and their pets are prohibited from entering the meadow. Please do not approach, interact, feed or touch the horses. This is for your safety and the safety of the horses. Do, however, take lots of photos! They make a perfect backdrop:)

We arrived with no trouble and the parking was level, so a great start! There was enough space on the property to run our dog a bit off leash and he really needed that after a long day of riding in the car. The morning was absolutely gorgeous.

My family loves camping here it is very quiet and peaceful. Watching the stars is one of the best features plenty of shooting stars and constellations to admire all night. It's a 4 hour walk to the gas station so please be mindful and be prepared

I enjoyed the stay at Matthew's property. Its conveniently located yet isolateted enough to enjoy desert sunset and sunrise. Matthew was very responsive and answered all the questions I had prior to the visit. I would definately stay when I am in the area. Thank you!

Such a beautiful and remote spot for car camping! We loved our location - A2. The huge pine trees were stunning and we appreciated having an acre of land just to ourselves. Seeing horses in the meadow was magical! My kids didn’t want to leave! We also enjoyed fully disconnecting from technology since we had no cell reception.
Def recommend bringing all the water you need for drinking, cooking and putting out the fire pit. Their manual warns that sometimes the water doesn’t work and it wasn’t working while we were there: Thankfully we followed their directions and brought enough for our stay!

This was our 2nd trip to Holcomb Valley Ranch and it did it disappoint. The campsite is spacious, quiet and well kept. Keep in mind the drive to the campsite is on a gravel and rocks so 4 wheel drive is suggested. It was a short walk to the water source and port-a-potties. Will be back again! Thank you!

Camp Durrwood was such a great find. What really set it apart was how secluded and immersed in nature the site was, it felt nothing like a standard campsite where you're parked next to a dozen other groups. We had space, quiet, and the feeling of actually being out there.
Walid was a great host, and the site was exactly as described. Everything we needed was there and well kept. Easy check-in, easy check-out, no surprises.
If you're looking for somewhere that feels genuinely removed from everything rather than just a numbered spot in a campground, this is it. We'd absolutely stay again. Highly recommend!

We absolutely loved Holcomb Valley Ranch & will be back! We brought our 4 month old Labrador and had a great time letting him off leash and enjoying the outdoors. This place is a gem. Please pack it in pack it out! Leave no trace of your time here to keep it beautiful for all to enjoy. Thank you Ed, our camp host. Watching the horses gallop at sunrise was top 5 coolest things I’ve witnessed! We stayed at site F3.

Absolutely wonderful time. Super easy to get to. Very spacious camp grounds. The horses in the meadows were breathtaking. We were blessed with a full moon at night and the sky was like something out of a movie. We will definitely be back.
