We are between Sequoia National Park (about an hour) and the Giant Sequoia National Monument (16 miles to groves up Hwy 190 and no entrance fee). River Ridge Institute, our non-profit, hosts a variety of events for the public. Please note: you are expected to leave the ranch and kitchen area as you found it, i.e., dishes washed thoroughly and dried and put away, recycling separated from trash, food scraps in compost buckets, sticky marshmallow removed from forks and surfaces (ick!). Most of our campers are road tripping, getting away from LA, or are looking for a stopover on their way to/from Yosemite, Sequoia, Joshua Tree, etc. We are in a desert climate – cold in the winter and hot in the summer. OrangeRay, home of Pixie's Place Animal Sanctuary and Hospice was founded in 2007, when I left L.A. for the forest by the river to create, and to expand my shamanic pursuits. Being that Three Rivers was home to the socialist Kaweah Colony in the 1800's; which helped in the founding of Sequoia National Park; the area is rich in history. Poet John Muir was enchanted and inspired by this area; Walt Disney fell under her spell as well when he envisioned a "Swiss Chalet" style resort which never came to fruition. The water wars of California began right here; gold rush...right here! "Kaweah" is the name given by the Indians for the sound the Crow makes. Three Rivers literally sits on slabs of quartz crystal, making rock hunting superb! As an energy practitioner, the quartz heightens the healing process; as well as creating an energy vortex. My property sits on an area that was once an Indian village, and then the school house for the children of the pioneers. There was a huge Hare Krishna Colony up here in the 60-70's. As a photographer and filmmaker, the lighting up here is amazing! The night skies literally pulsate with their celestial canopy. A great spot to sky watch as well! The property is not kid-friendly, and is not really here for children as much as it is offered for the inner child in adults. WE ARE 420 friendly which is in opposition to most "family" landscapes....so please note this is not personal but I prefer no children xo Also, I prefer no pets, as it disrupts the balance here with the animal residents :) I share fresh eggs when available :) (The shower is not available to guest :)

We are located about 1 hour east of Paso Robles California a short drive off highway 58 and about 1.5 hours west of Bakersfield. Carrisa Plains is known for its beautiful display of wild flowers in the spring time, incredible sunny days, and spectacular wildlife viewing. The ranch is also located a short 29 min drive from the Carrizo Plain National Monument and Las Padres National Forest. Tule elk, prog horn antelope, and valley quail are just some of the animals you may encounter on our ranch. The pond is full of fish (bass, blue gill & sun perch) so don’t forget your fishing poles (catch & release). -We have beautiful 2 stall hot water showers, and three stall restroom including handicap stall. **Cleaned & Sanitized DAILY Our communal kitchen has : a large gas bbq grill, 3 smaller gas grills as well as gas burners & sink. **Cleaned & Sanitized DAILY. There are several counter high prepping tables around the kitchen (please clean up your cooking essentials & food after each meal as everyone shares this space). Campfires - We are an ember free site year round due to wildfire risks & insurance purposes. We do however have propane fire pit rentals for $20 per night. - great for roasting s’mores & the ambience of camping. Please do not cook any meals on them. All cooking is to be done in the communal kitchen area. The summer days can get pretty toasty and the winter nights can get very chilly so check the weather before your stay and plan accordingly. Don’t forget your swim suits as we have soaking troughs for you to cool off in. -Also please note we are located an hour from the nearest town, no stores or gas stations. Please come fully equipped with your own utensils, cooking essentials, food and beverages. We sell ICE!! $5 per 5lb bag. We are off grid, there is no electricity, all lights are battery or solar powered. You may want a flashlight or headlamp for walking around at night. Our home is 1622 sq ft with plenty of space to make yourself comfortable. As you walk into our home, you will see our open living room and oversized couch. You’ll then see our kitchen and dining room immediately. Our kitchen table seats 4, and we have 2 barstools in the kitchen for the bar area. Down the hallway, you’ll see our first bedroom with a Queen-size bed, the laundry room, and a hallway bathroom. Then straight ahead you’ll see our master bedroom with a bathroom, a walk-in closet, and a full bathroom with a jacuzzi bathtub. Our home does have AC/Heating by mini split units that are all new & purchased & installed in June 2022 and are maintained monthly. We also have 2 twin folding beds that can be set up in either bedroom or the living room. Purchased in August 2022 for additional sleeping. Ring cameras are located on the outside of the property. No cameras are inside. Enjoy a nice evening on the front patio, enjoying nature. A propane barbecue is located on the front porch. Absolutely no smoking on the property. Wildfires are common in the area. Three Rivers is a very high-risk area. Three Rivers has faced evacuation warnings in both 2020 & 2021 due to local raging wildfires. ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING/FIRES ON/NEAR THE PROPERTY. BE ADVISED - Sequoia National Park has received significantly more snow and rain than normal this year (2023), which has resulted in some damage to some roadways within the park. MAKE SURE TO REVIEW THE SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK WEBSITE FOR CURRENT PARK CONDITIONS INFORMATION BEFORE BOOKING. *REFUNDS WILL NOT BE GIVEN IF THE AREAS IN THE PARKS YOU'RE WANTING TO VISIT ARE CLOSED* RULES: Maximum occupancy of 6 is strictly enforced. We loved this place. My 4 year old had a blast wondering around the camp. The river with a private beach is amazing. The cabin was super nice, very quiet, very secluded. The full kitchen and refrigerator was also a nice touch. Great base camp. The camp has WiFi so that’s nice. Close to town and right off the 190. We will be back for sure

Cabin was great, right next to several other cabins and the toilet, not too far from the communal kitchen. Beds were comfy and clean. We were a little spooked by the baby rattlesnakes that are prevalent this time of year, but it's high enough to be slightly cooler than the rest of the valley and see the stars.

Would definitely recommend staying at Gavin's, either for weekend away, or for a road trip LA - SF! You've got the outdoor feeling of camping but with the luxury of a room with a bed. Very cozy atmosphere and amazing surroundings. Away from the more touristic areas, giving you a very remote feeling... Rooms include a kettle, cups, coffee maker, wine glasses and wine opener (the essentials ;) ). Be sure to bring the other stuff you might need. The campgrounds looked also pretty good.

River Ridge Ranch is a deeply special sanctuary, and the Cottonwood Cabin is the perfect place to truly disconnect and immerse yourself in nature. The property is surrounded by breathtaking, ancient trees and the peaceful, soothing sound of the river, making it an incredible backdrop for anyone looking to rest, reflect, and recharge. While I took this particular trip solo, the layout and beautiful surroundings would also make it a fantastic getaway for a group of friends. Gary is a wonderful, thoughtful host who has created a unique and supportive environment for quiet reflection. 2 nights at OrangeRay~Three Rivers

The camper, the property, the animals and Wendi are all so wonderful, cannot recommend this stay enough. This was exactly the quiet reprieve we needed! Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer ❤️ Definitely go down to the river for a dip of the feet at least. And give the sweet kitties a scratch on the head for us! Thank you Wendi!!!!

Weekend Trip to The Squattage in the Sequoia National Forest!

The Squattage was a cute place to stay and so close to gorgeous trails! the owners put a lot of love and attention to detail in the cabin. They even provided an aluminum pan, tongs, and a pot had for cooking on the propane fire which we really appreciated! It's a nice mix of being in nature, but still being a part of a community with a great general store an easy walk down the street.

2 nights at The Squattage in the Sequoia National Forest!

The Squattage is the cutest little A-frame cabin I’ve ever been in! James is a great host and explained everything to us when we arrived. The lounge chairs outside were great to relax in after a long day of hiking! The location is great, close to the trail of 100 giants and the rest of Sequioa NP. Definitely recommend and hope to visit again soon!

We had an amazing stay at the Two Story Cabin The place is peaceful, beautiful, and perfect for a relaxing getaway surrounded by nature. Everything was well organized, clean, and exactly as described. A special thanks to Gary , he is such a kind and helpful host. He responded quickly, guided us clearly, and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. You can really feel that he cares about his guests. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a calm and unique experience. Would definitely love to come back again.

Weekend Trip to Sierra Ranch - Cabins & Tents

Gary was an excellent host. The ranch is absolutely incredible scenery, a perfect writing retreat! I was comfortable in the cabin I chose and I felt safe on the property. The camp has Gary’s installation art scattered throughout, a community center with shared kitchen and a large fire pit. There’s nice trails and easy access to the creek. Planning my next escape here as soon as I can! Thanks Gary!

Wendi’s place is magical! She is such a lovely and thoughtful host and wonderful person. The land is gorgeous and the river roaring! The animals throughout add to the magic. Her place is conveniently located right by Sequoia. The airstream is cozy and has everything you need.
