What to expect: We are in a rural neighborhood where most parcels are 1-3 acres, we have seven acres. It's quiet around here but along with the natural sounds of the desert like yipping coyotes, and woodpeckers pecking, you may hear a horse, dog, or chicken. While we are on the outskirts of Tucson, we are not completely remote. We have carved our sites out of the natural layout of the desert. There are many kinds of cactus in our area in addition to the magnificent Saguaro, and uneven areas when walking. We keep it as natural as possible. We have a small "Mercantile" on property. This is our office, but we also have items you may have forgotten, and souvenirs made by local artists. Also available is firewood, and ice is for sale for your convenience. We have a small Laundry Shack (two washers, two dryers) 2.00 wash/2.00 dry. You'll need cash for these things, we do not take any other form of payment at this time. Camp Saguaro is tobacco-free. This darling camper cabin has one bedroom with a queen sized bed (2 guests), and two pull out couches for up to four additional guests. The well stocked kitchen has all the cookware and utensils you'll need for cooking, a propane range, as well as a cooler for your use (bring ice). A gas barbecue is on site as well. The wood stove kicks out a ton of heat to keep you toasty while you sip on steamy hot chocolate that is provided for your enjoyment. Gather around the propane operated firepit in the backyard for some R&R. Bring a hammock 'cuz there are unlimited opportunities for stringing one up! Tons of activities will keep you occupied, including hiking and biking on the nearby Arizona Trail (just 1/2 mile away), or even sledding on your very own private 2 acre piece of paradise! What's even better is the property backs onto the National Forest, for unlimited enjoyment of nature. In the evening crack open a book, or start playing a game with your besties to close out a long day. The property is completely off the grid, making it very appealing to those travelers and adventurers who want to create a minimal carbon footprint on their vacation. The kitchen sink has a hand pump that draws water from under the sink from a 10 gallon water jug. You can refill the jug as needed from a hand pump located in the back yard. There is solar powered lighting and a USB phone charger station. There is no electrical power available. Cell service is available in the area depending on your carrier. The outdoor composting toilet is super clean with little or no odor. The cabin is located at 8200' in the San Francisco Peaks in the pines and aspens. Snowshoe or cross country ski, go sledding or snowmobiling, or just good old fashioned relaxation will make the time fly by. If that's not enough check this out:(a) it's just 5 miles to the Arizona Nordic Center for incredible cross country ski trails(b) it's just 18 miles to Snowbowl for chairlift rides or world class skiing(c) it's just 20 miles to the hip town of Flagstaff for fantastic restaurants, golfing, shopping, coffee shops and museums(d) it's just 60 miles to historic Williams with the Bearizona wildlife park and the popular Grand Canyon Railway(e) it's just 55 miles to the world famous Grand Canyon. If you get stuck on the road it will be your own responsibility. Please check with the owner a couple days prior to your visit to check on road conditions during the winter! Just absolute perfection! Russell's space is awesome, as is he! I stayed for a few nights and with the focus of really staying in the space (vs sightseeing). I felt tucked into a sweet rural little neighborhood, lots of big gardens, (and privacy screens) some horses, cows and roosters around on near by properties. So while you're not way off in the middle of no where, the sounds are gentle, noninvasive, and can't be heard at all inside the cabin cottage. I felt I had enough privacy to use the sauna and outdoor cast iron tub & shower in a bathing suit. So nice having the back patio/sauna & tub area all tucked away in the back with some good privacy and a cute space to sit and hang while also having the front area with fire pit & picnic table. I used both a lot! I could follow the sunshine :) My three big dogs loved staying here too! The fenced in yard was so great and the doggie door was big enough for even my 100lb old girl to get through - it was so thoughtfully designed and convenient! This is silly maybe but I also so appreciate when people have really good plush, soft towels - nailed it! And while I didn't think I'd need it I did end up using the washer n dryer in the little back shed, so that was a cool bonus convenience! The kitchen was stocked, had all the right utensils to cook some various meals for a few days. And Russell was just the best! Responsive, helpful, nonintrusive, and so delightful to chat with when I did get to interact with him. Thank you for the best local getaway! I'll be back!!

Jen was a wonderful host with a great depth of knowledge about the Tucson region. Incredibly friendly and welcoming. The site was great for those looking to experience the desert and get to see the stars but still be able to shower in the morning. Be sure to join Jen for a morning cup of hot coffee and conversation. We will absolutely go out of our way to visit here again the next time we are in Arizona.

Gil and Tiffany have done a phenomenal job of making this place a cozy, artsy getaway that truly feels like a destination in and of itself. The shower is hot, the kitchen has everything you need, and the hot tub is perfect after a long day of hiking. Excited to come back in the near future!

We spent two nights at the cabin! It is exactly what I wanted! It gave us the unforgettable experience of a forest cabin. The host was so thoughtful that we were given all the details about how to use the cabin and how to keep it clean while functioning. I took my parents there. It was my dad’s 80’s birthday! He loves it. My mom has mild Alzheimer. She thought she was at home which means she feels relaxed and cozy. We will come back again maybe in winter when it snows!

This was such a special trip for us, and I’m so happy we found this place! One of the most important things for me when traveling is being able to bring my three dogs. They’re family, and leaving them behind is never something I want to do. One of my dogs, Luna, was diagnosed with a brain tumor earlier this year. She used to love hiking and exploring with us, and after months of treatment, we finally got the amazing news that her tumor was no longer visible. This was not only my birthday trip, but also a very special one for Luna. Being able to have her there with us, along with our other two dogs, meant more to me than I can explain. I’m incredibly grateful we found a place that welcomed all three of them. The place itself was wonderful! After spending long days hiking and exploring, having a comfortable bed, a clean restroom, and a hot shower was amazing. I especially loved that there were both indoor and outdoor showers! Having a little store nearby where we could grab essentials without worrying about driving somewhere else was also really convenient. And of course, being able to enjoy a campfire at night was the perfect way to end the day. Not every place allows that, and it’s one of my favorite parts of camping. The location was another huge plus! We used it as our home base for exploring Zion, where I got to hike Angels Landing, and we also visited Bryce Canyon and took the dogs hiking in the surrounding area. Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park was another highlight, especially because we could bring the dogs along. I also absolutely loved exploring the little town! Whenever I travel, I enjoy discovering local coffee shops, and I found a great one here. We took the dogs to the local park and spent some time just enjoying the town itself. It was such a charming area, and I’m glad we got to experience more than just the national parks. We enjoyed our stay so much that we actually tried to extend it for a few more days, but unfortunately, it was already booked! That probably says enough about how much we loved it. Since we’re only a few hours away in Las Vegas, I can definitely see us coming back for a shorter getaway, just to relax, explore the area, sit around a campfire, and enjoy some quality time with our dogs. This trip will always have a special place in my heart, especially because of Luna. Thank you for giving us a place where our whole family could be together and make these memories. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting the area, especially those traveling with their four-legged family members! 💚

Karla is a fantastic hostess and the property is absolutely beautiful! She has created a lovely little oasis with very thoughtful amenities. The fact that this is actually a ranch with horses and livestock, as well as a tiki-themed yard/pool/poolhouse is so much fun! Definitely unique in a very good way. Booking was simple and Karla's communication and kindness were flawless.

Great little spot for adventures in the area. Very private and quiet (though occasional barking dogs and mooing cows!). Indoor plumbing was a pleasant surprise and kitchen supplies were awesome. Sleeping in the loft was an interesting touch though didn't love having to negotiate the ladder in the middle of the night. Russell was super helpful and tips to enter Zion from the east side were spot on. Each day I went there (and a day in Bryce) started off so nice driving through the Cane Beds, no traffic, great view.

Amazing place, we went in the late summer for our trip to Zion, an easy and very beautiful 1hr drive to the park. The owner takes great care of this cottage, everything we could need was ready including the calm and cozy vibes of the cabin. A great cooking set up for basic meals and nice bathroom. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

this is an absolutely beautiful and rustic cabin set among pines and aspens! The national Forest is your backyard! If you want to get away and disconnect, this is the perfect place. The spacious front porch was where we spent most of our time, reading books and talking. Having morning coffee on the front porch as I watched the birds and felt the breezes coming through the Aspen was heavenly.. This is a very small community and it’s all off grid which appealed to us.. We love to hike and it was a 20 minute walk to the Arizona trail head. We hiked for two hours and did not see one person. The neighbors in this small community are friendly and helpful. All of the lots are about 2.5 acres.. the speed limit is 10 mph and there were no cars or ATVs racing up and down the hardened dirt road. In my mind, it is a little piece of heaven. Stargazing is wonderful. We did not mind using a hand pump at the kitchen sink. This is a vintage experience for those who want to get away from civilization. The owner is very responsive to text when we had questions. If you are looking for a peaceful Retreat, this is the place. 🥰
