What to expect: We are in a rural neighborhood where most parcels are 1-3 acres, we have seven acres. It's quiet around here but along with the natural sounds of the desert like yipping coyotes, and woodpeckers pecking, you may hear a horse, dog, or chicken. While we are on the outskirts of Tucson, we are not completely remote. We have carved our sites out of the natural layout of the desert. There are many kinds of cactus in our area in addition to the magnificent Saguaro, and uneven areas when walking. We keep it as natural as possible. We have a small "Mercantile" on property. This is our office, but we also have items you may have forgotten, and souvenirs made by local artists. Also available is firewood, and ice is for sale for your convenience. We have a small Laundry Shack (two washers, two dryers) 2.00 wash/2.00 dry. You'll need cash for these things, we do not take any other form of payment at this time. Camp Saguaro is tobacco-free. We had a great time at Russell’s cottage! The surrounding red rock cliffs are absolutely stunning and even seemed to convert my fiancé who historically had not understood my love of the desert. Just up the road is a trail that will take you up the slope to the nearest cliff. The cottage itself looks rustic and fits into the landscape beautifully, but is actually packed with just about every amenity you could want, even for those unfamiliar with the outdoors (heat, A/C, internet, indoor and outdoor showers, fridge, toaster oven, gas stove top, outdoor gas and coal grills and cooking setups for the fire pit, sauna). However, I think even more striking than the convenience and the thoughtfulness Russell has put into stocking the cottage is the care he took in building it. We really enjoyed just looking around to try to identify all the creative uses of reclaimed items, because they were all so artistically and coherently integrated that they felt seem less. The cottage was also incredibly clean, and seemed to, almost without fail, have everything exactly where you would want it. Want to sit and watch the sunset, turn around there’s a chair right behind you waiting. My only minor criticism, if you can even call it that, is that there is no freezer, so just be aware if you are doing a multi-day trip. However there is an incredibly well stocked grocery store only a 10 minute drive away (though, be aware that, despite listing hours as MST, they actually seem to observe MDT).

We absolutely loved our stay. Everything we could need was provided. The home is unbelievably beautiful and comfortable. We used the steam sauna on the last night and couldn't be more thankful. The neighbors are amazing! There very kind and welcoming was a very well loved added bonus. We can not thank Russell enough for opening this space for us and others to enjoy.

Russell's space was perfect for what my boyfriend and i were looking for on our cross country road trip. We picked up groceries in Kanab, made fire, cooked and ate outside, stargazed/witnessed meteors and slept in. The space was perfect for the two of us and our dog and i couldnt recommend staying here more! Russell also gave us fantastic recommendations/ responded quickly to any and all questions that came up. We are super grateful for the experience and would 10/10 stay again.

Weekend Trip to Karla's Hummingbird Guest Ranch

Karla's hummingbird house was sensational. The tiki lights at sunset surrounding the pool and inside the pool were dreamlike. The pool house was clean comfy and eclectic. Through kitchenette and bathroom area was nostalgic and like walking into the past and a past that is good. I will definitely be back!

If you want a top notch, peaceful, relaxing retreat, you’ll find it at the Saguaro Sky Ranch. If you want a superb host to become a newfound friend, you’ll find her in Barb! She’s welcoming, helpful, available, open to questions and responds quickly. Barb has created many amazing spaces on her land amid the saguaro cacti and desert-scapes, each one a mini-refuge to unwind, chill out and enjoy the sunrise, the wide open views overlooking Tucson, or thunderstorms over the distant mountains. I found my favorite spot and didn’t want to leave. Be careful to not step on the resident tarantulas! Genevieve may be small by today’s standards but it’s plenty of room. I loved the homey touches and the super comfy bed. The shower and bathroom are enclosed but open to the blue sky. Loved it! You are steps away from jumping in the pool. Saguaro Sky Ranch is in close proximity to the national park. Trailheads for miles of hiking are just down the road. Ask Barb about the nearby petroglyphs. Can’t imagine a better base camp for seeing Tucson nor a better host to know!

I loved tent camping and staying in the yurt at Tiffany & Gills land! These owners are some of the kindest people I’ve met and this place has great amenities. The kitchens were fully stocked with cooking supplies, there’s a nice platform available to use for yoga/working out and the bathrooms are kept well cleaned. The hosts made my stay especially comfortable and I’d definitely recommend staying here!

We had such a wonderful stay at Land Beyond Zion! Everything on the property was incredibly clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully cared for. You can really tell Tiffany and Gill put a lot of love into creating a welcoming and homey environment. One of the highlights of our trip was the hot tub and chatting with Tiffany and Gill. In addition, the stars at camp were also absolutely breathtaking and made for a peaceful, memorable evening. We were so grateful that Tiffany and Gill were able to accommodate a last-minute upgrade from our campsite to the yurt on the day of our arrival. We really appreciated their flexibility and kindness. They were warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. The property is also in a fantastic location near Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. Tiffany even shared a few recommendations for places to explore. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely stay here again, for longer. Our family couldn’t get over how cute this cabin was! There were so many charming and creative details. It definitely has a rustic feel, but never once felt cheap or thrown together. It is all so well constructed and intentional. A cute little gas cook top that functioned perfectly, convection oven, fridge, AC, fire pit, 2 showers, amazing views… We definitely plan to stay again and Russel was great and so easy to work with. 10 out of 10. We were honestly surprised he didn’t charge more for it.
