Tucson Mountain Park and Saguaro National Park boast hundreds of miles of hiking trails, and non-motorized mountain bikes are permitted on the trails in Tucson Mountain Park. Let us be your base camp for desert exploration whether it's hiking, riding, birdwatching, and learning. Come to Camp Saguaro and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the desert. Our friendly hosts can help you plan a great day, some of them even have their Certified Tourism Amabssador credentials. Please note: We are tobacco-free, medicinal herbs are legal and ok as long as children are not around.
What to expect:
We are in a rural neighborhood where most parcels are 1-3 acres, we have seven acres. It's quiet around here but along with the natural sounds of the desert like yipping coyotes, and woodpeckers pecking, you may hear a horse, dog, or chicken. While we are on the outskirts of Tucson, we are not completely remote.
We have carved our sites out of the natural layout of the desert. There are many kinds of cactus in our area in addition to the magnificent Saguaro, and uneven areas when walking. We keep it as natural as possible.
We have a small "Mercantile" on property. This is our office, but we also have items you may have forgotten, and souvenirs made by local artists. Also available is firewood, and ice is for sale for your convenience. We have a small Laundry Shack (two washers, two dryers) 2.00 wash/2.00 dry. You'll need cash for these things, we do not take any other form of payment at this time.
Camp Saguaro is tobacco-free.

Gather around the propane operated firepit in the backyard for some R&R. Bring a hammock 'cuz there are unlimited opportunities for stringing one up! Tons of activities will keep you occupied, including hiking and biking on the nearby Arizona Trail (just 1/2 mile away), or even sledding on your very own private 2 acre piece of paradise! What's even better is the property backs onto the National Forest, for unlimited enjoyment of nature. In the evening crack open a book, or start playing a game with your besties to close out a long day. The property is completely off the grid, making it very appealing to those travelers and adventurers who want to create a minimal carbon footprint on their vacation. The kitchen sink has a hand pump that draws water from under the sink from a 10 gallon water jug. You can refill the jug as needed from a hand pump located in the back yard. There is solar powered lighting and a USB phone charger station. There is no electrical power available. Cell service is available in the area depending on your carrier. The outdoor composting toilet is super clean with little or no odor. The cabin is located at 8200' in the San Francisco Peaks in the pines and aspens. Snowshoe or cross country ski, go sledding or snowmobiling, or just good old fashioned relaxation will make the time fly by. My 8 acre private horse property is located in the Sky Islands area of South Eastern Arizona. This is my own little private horse ranch, pretty and clean, I live here and I am here working on premises every day. I do my best to make my guests comfortable and make sure they enjoy their stay. I prefer adult guests, however if your child is well behaved then I will make an exception. I have a clean indoor restroom and a nice breakfast area on a well maintained property? You are safe here and so is your stuff. Good well behaved dogs allowed on leash welcome, no Pit Bulls please. No loud music please.
I offer 2 full hook-up spaces, one space is covered. Power is 50 AMPS! An RV must be under 12' to fit under the covered space.
I offer 4 dry camping options. You can book the Tent Cabana-The Shady Rest- listing or you can dry camp by booking through my Tent and Vehicle Camping listing. There are no exact designated spaces for tent/vehicle camping. You can choose where you prefer to camp. An extra vehicle is OK as long as it's part of your one campsite. 2 groups with 2 camp vehicles is 2 campsites.
I also have the Pool House, an indoor option with a power outlet, and it's close to the pool and restroom area. You can set up your bed or rent a full size bed which I will set up for you.
This is my private property, you and your gear are safe and secure. You can leave your campsite and go exploring, no one will bother your stuff.
I have WiFi and great cell service here. Please arrive by 10pm unless arrangements are made in advance. I meet with you and show you around.
I will greet you personally and show you around. I close my gates at dark or once guests have arrived. Once you are here you may come and go as you please, I just ask that you shut the gates if you come in after dark. The gates will not be locked.
I am located just over an hour away from Tucson and 25 minutes off the 10.
Dry campers- Off the pool area there is a clean restroom in my back garage and a sink with hot water. There is a breakfast room with clean refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker and coffee w/sugar and creamers available for your use. There is a fire pit at the outside green cabana, and free mesquite firewood. Lots of local birds visit daily. You are welcome to visit and pet my horses and donkeys! All of my guests are my close friends coming for a visit!

Weekend Trip to Shiloh Ranch Guesthouse...& Casita
Sandee was a very kind and accommodating host & it was the most beautiful location! I would absolutely recommend staying here. It was the perfect little getaway just a stone's throw from the Petrfied Forest. Sandee makes sure you have everything you could need & more. If you love sitting by the fire & looking at the stars, this is the perfect place!

This was such a special trip for us, and I’m so happy we found this place!
One of the most important things for me when traveling is being able to bring my three dogs. They’re family, and leaving them behind is never something I want to do. One of my dogs, Luna, was diagnosed with a brain tumor earlier this year. She used to love hiking and exploring with us, and after months of treatment, we finally got the amazing news that her tumor was no longer visible. This was not only my birthday trip, but also a very special one for Luna. Being able to have her there with us, along with our other two dogs, meant more to me than I can explain. I’m incredibly grateful we found a place that welcomed all three of them.
The place itself was wonderful! After spending long days hiking and exploring, having a comfortable bed, a clean restroom, and a hot shower was amazing. I especially loved that there were both indoor and outdoor showers! Having a little store nearby where we could grab essentials without worrying about driving somewhere else was also really convenient. And of course, being able to enjoy a campfire at night was the perfect way to end the day. Not every place allows that, and it’s one of my favorite parts of camping.
The location was another huge plus! We used it as our home base for exploring Zion, where I got to hike Angels Landing, and we also visited Bryce Canyon and took the dogs hiking in the surrounding area. Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park was another highlight, especially because we could bring the dogs along.
I also absolutely loved exploring the little town! Whenever I travel, I enjoy discovering local coffee shops, and I found a great one here. We took the dogs to the local park and spent some time just enjoying the town itself. It was such a charming area, and I’m glad we got to experience more than just the national parks.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we actually tried to extend it for a few more days, but unfortunately, it was already booked! That probably says enough about how much we loved it.
Since we’re only a few hours away in Las Vegas, I can definitely see us coming back for a shorter getaway, just to relax, explore the area, sit around a campfire, and enjoy some quality time with our dogs.
This trip will always have a special place in my heart, especially because of Luna. Thank you for giving us a place where our whole family could be together and make these memories. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting the area, especially those traveling with their four-legged family members! 💚

Karla is a fantastic hostess and the property is absolutely beautiful! She has created a lovely little oasis with very thoughtful amenities. The fact that this is actually a ranch with horses and livestock, as well as a tiki-themed yard/pool/poolhouse is so much fun! Definitely unique in a very good way. Booking was simple and Karla's communication and kindness were flawless.

8 nights at Gypsy’s Cottage
Great little spot for adventures in the area. Very private and quiet (though occasional barking dogs and mooing cows!). Indoor plumbing was a pleasant surprise and kitchen supplies were awesome. Sleeping in the loft was an interesting touch though didn't love having to negotiate the ladder in the middle of the night.
Russell was super helpful and tips to enter Zion from the east side were spot on. Each day I went there (and a day in Bryce) started off so nice driving through the Cane Beds, no traffic, great view.

1 night at A-Frame By Grand Canyon With Sauna
This place is rad. Has a luxury ski resort but yet off-grid feel (I've always wanted to see what a solar setup would be like). The A frame is about a mile off the main road (dirt drive) and has its own gravel drive. 40 minutes to the Grand Canyon South Rim entrance. Huge TV, mini split for AC, full kitchen with stove, fridge, and dishwasher. I loved the loft bed with the window to the east to watch the sunrise. Pet friendly with plenty of shrub land outside the driveway for dogs to run. I didn't see any stray neighbor dogs and neighbors are far enough away to feel like you have privacy. Cedric was super responsive and even gave us early check-in when we asked.

Weekend Trip to Gypsy’s Cottage
Amazing place, we went in the late summer for our trip to Zion, an easy and very beautiful 1hr drive to the park. The owner takes great care of this cottage, everything we could need was ready including the calm and cozy vibes of the cabin.
A great cooking set up for basic meals and nice bathroom. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

this is an absolutely beautiful and rustic cabin set among pines and aspens! The national Forest is your backyard!
If you want to get away and disconnect, this is the perfect place. The spacious front porch was where we spent most of our time, reading books and talking. Having morning coffee on the front porch as I watched the birds and felt the breezes coming through the Aspen was heavenly.. This is a very small community and it’s all off grid which appealed to us.. We love to hike and it was a 20 minute walk to the Arizona trail head. We hiked for two hours and did not see one person. The neighbors in this small community are friendly and helpful. All of the lots are about 2.5 acres.. the speed limit is 10 mph and there were no cars or ATVs racing up and down the hardened dirt road. In my mind, it is a little piece of heaven. Stargazing is wonderful. We did not mind using a hand pump at the kitchen sink. This is a vintage experience for those who want to get away from civilization. The owner is very responsive to text when we had questions. If you are looking for a peaceful Retreat, this is the place.

2 nights at Gypsy’s Cottage
We had a great time at Russell’s cottage! The surrounding red rock cliffs are absolutely stunning and even seemed to convert my fiancé who historically had not understood my love of the desert. Just up the road is a trail that will take you up the slope to the nearest cliff. The cottage itself looks rustic and fits into the landscape beautifully, but is actually packed with just about every amenity you could want, even for those unfamiliar with the outdoors (heat, A/C, internet, indoor and outdoor showers, fridge, toaster oven, gas stove top, outdoor gas and coal grills and cooking setups for the fire pit, sauna). However, I think even more striking than the convenience and the thoughtfulness Russell has put into stocking the cottage is the care he took in building it. We really enjoyed just looking around to try to identify all the creative uses of reclaimed items, because they were all so artistically and coherently integrated that they felt seem less. The cottage was also incredibly clean, and seemed to, almost without fail, have everything exactly where you would want it. Want to sit and watch the sunset, turn around there’s a chair right behind you waiting. My only minor criticism, if you can even call it that, is that there is no freezer, so just be aware if you are doing a multi-day trip. However there is an incredibly well stocked grocery store only a 10 minute drive away (though, be aware that, despite listing hours as MST, they actually seem to observe MDT).

We absolutely loved our stay. Everything we could need was provided. The home is unbelievably beautiful and comfortable. We used the steam sauna on the last night and couldn't be more thankful. The neighbors are amazing! There very kind and welcoming was a very well loved added bonus. We can not thank Russell enough for opening this space for us and others to enjoy.

Russell's space was perfect for what my boyfriend and i were looking for on our cross country road trip.
We picked up groceries in Kanab, made fire, cooked and ate outside, stargazed/witnessed meteors and slept in. The space was perfect for the two of us and our dog and i couldnt recommend staying here more!
Russell also gave us fantastic recommendations/ responded quickly to any and all questions that came up. We are super grateful for the experience and would 10/10 stay again.
