There are solar lights illuminating the path to the tent if you arrive after dark. There you will find a that you can use to bring your luggage down. Other things to note • The river will rise and fall depending on how much rain we are getting. It tends to be lower late summer to early fall. At the very top of the property are 30+ ft high cliffs with a cave. It has a colorful collection of lichen growing in it and we have named it our 'Mandala cave'. The cave is great for meditation. Rejuvenating guided hikes to the cliffs & caves are available upon request. This is raw land & raw forest. If you enjoy bush craft, there is plenty of material for you to build a lean-to, tipi, or structure of choice. Trees range from poplar to multiple species of oak. Natural wildlife include deer, wild turkeys, scorpions, and ticks. You're welcome to bring fluffy as we've never seen any predators, but there is a slight chance there could be some around. A lost animal on the mountain could be near impossible to find. We have 2 male cats. Unfortunately, the Earth does what she wants and weather forecasts can't be relied upon. We've had sunny days that have been forecasted to rain and un-predicted downpours. It can be raining at the top or the bottom of the mountain but not at the campsites in the middle.

We have 20 acres of savannah grassland full of native plants and wildflowers and over 80 untouched acres full of awesome rock formations and creeks with waterfalls available for you to hike. There's a stocked fish pond for catch and release fishing and a gorgeous view overlooking the Cumberland Plateau and the Sherwood Valley. Experienced and beginner campers are welcome! We live on one side of the property, so we’re available to assist (setting up tents for the first few times is no joke!) or we’re happy to give you as much space and solitude as you need. We have three campsites available in the native savannah grassland, and one that is a "hike-in and choose your favorite spot in the woods" site. This creek property was probably used by the Creek and then the Cherokee as a campsite because of the abundant water and wild life. Later is was farm land and in the 1920's had approximately fifty mules working the land. The Old barn and blacksmith shop are still here. In 1977 the government planned to put a four lane toll road through here but was stopped by the oil embargo which caused the right of way to be auctioned. We were able to buy 200 acres for a small amount of money and have been raising cattle and camping on it every since that time. As a Scout Master I have been using this site for camping for the past 15 years. Time to let others enjoy. Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent or hammock in a grove of hardwood trees in a nice meadow on the banks of Lake Creek with old timey swimming hole. It is about 8 feet deep in center going to about 4' at sides and 20 feet long. Big stone grill is provided as well as large fire pit. Kindling and firewood is provided. ten minute walk to the main house for potable water and other needs.  37 acre farm with hills and a wide variety of wildlife and plants to inspect. Camp is in rural area couple hundred yards off county road but secluded. Plenty of deer, turkey, geese, wild ducks, beaver and other wild life in the area. A secondary campsite is provided down the creek with area for tent near creek. Fire pit and firewood is provided.

Conveniently right off the main highway the Retreat is situated on 45 acres near Historic Prater's Mill. We are on the Scenic Byway beautifully tucked into a well appointed Pondside Retreat for the outdoors person to come Retreat, Relax, and Restore! PET FEES ARE $30 EACH PER STAY- COLLECTED AT CHECK IN. 2 Cots and 2 camp chairs are provided inside the tiny cabin. You must set up your own cots. Bring your own sleeping bags, blankets, pillows. The cots and chairs must remain inside the cabin. The Tiny Cabin only accommodates two adults, maybe one child in floor. Any extra people will need to bring their own tents, up to 8 add'l people in tents. Extra people will need accounted for as you checkout within the Hip Camp app/software. There is a $30 per extra person fee for camping. Learn more about this land: Camp is set up in a beautifully shaded area pondside with a Tiny cabin that is completely screened in. So you are sleeping under the stars but you’re inside a covered structure! We provide 2 picnic tables, park grill, fire pit, a water spigot, a warm water wash stand, 2 battery powered fans mounted above the cots and phone chargers with USB port, and a clean porta toilet serviced weekly. Catch and Release fishing on the 1.5 acre pond is included! Our pond is fully stocked with Bass, Catfish, Shellcracker, and Bream. You don't want to miss this gem! It's a good spot to use as a landing place. It's not super private but I didn't feel bothered by the people there. I tried to be quiet so they felt the same! Can't beat the price. The host is very accomodating and answers all questions. They also have a cabin I have stayed at in a dofferent part of the property and they were helpful with that as well.

The property is beautiful. Had a great time and am very thankful for all of the helpful amenities included (clean port-a-potty, communal barn, picnic tables, etc.). There was a dog and a cat who visited us a few times throughout our stay, both very affectionate and sweet. Overall a 10/10 experience.

I had a wonderful time camping in my truck bed camper. Billy’s land… you’ve really got to see it to believe it. I arrived after dark so I wasn’t too sure if I had the best spot or not. When I woke up the next morning I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. It was beautiful. The rock formations… the pictures are gorgeous but the in person view… just wow. I felt like I had the whole mountain to myself. My dog got to be free and lead the way on our adventures which he absolutely loved. I 10/10 would recommend and I definitely plan to visit again. Thank you Billy. Your place is wonderful, and full of wonder.

I loved the property and the peace and the people were wonderful too!!!! The only downside is, if you are tent camping during the winter there is no outside water source or no shower because the water is off during the winter outside.

Great option for those who want an unassisted or supplied camping trip. Barn with cooking materials and games was an awesome resource. I went alone with my dog to test out my new converted van. Amazing option. I also had to reschedule due to some travel issues and host was very accommodating.

This campsite is great! It is very spacious with great views. They have canoes and kayaks available to use and it’s great to get on the water for sunrise or sunset. Located close to some awesome outdoors areas like Suck Creek and Middle Creek. Highly recommend.

Doni was an incredibly gracious and kind host who went above and beyond to be helpful! The property was perfect for our single night trip, and there seem to be several different sites available depending on what you’re looking for. The spot we selected had a fire ring, had enough room for several tents, and felt secluded even though it was just a 3 minute walk back to our vehicles. There is some road noise at night you can hear, but otherwise we had a wonderful time. We had some success fishing as well along the river, which was quite exciting. The paddle board was fun as well. Would love to come back with a larger group.
