This camp site was great! We had a wonderful time, yes the showers only have cold water. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the outdoor shower and with the heat it felt super refreshing and peaceful to be in the outdoor shower. We will definitely be returning.

Both my wife and I had the most amazing time at Alan’s Land. We loved the atmosphere hearing all the sounds from the horses peacocks chickens lamas and donkeys. Our camping spot was perfect in every way. The people we met were very friendly. We needed the peace and quiet to help ground and reconnect with nature. We didn’t want to leave. I highly recommend to visit this incredible place. We can’t wait to return.

Great place for kids to explore the whole Ranch and interact with lots of Animals. Clean bathrooms. Hay Ride to feed the cows and Horses was amazing. 🤩

Great spot. Would definitely come back with a group. There was a while area with a sink, prep tables, charcoal grills and picnic tables next the firepit. I wouldn't reccomendation it here if you weren't an animal person, but for us it was a lot if fun. The host's 8 dogs, pig, chickens, and peacocks roam free about the property. Its dispersed camping so you can set up your tent anywhere in the grass amongst the trees. It could probably fit 10 tents easily, but only 2 "sites" can be reserved. If you reserve both then you can have the whole place just for your group. There is a small bathroom- a stall for men and a stall for women, but it is kept well. The one shower looked pretty rustic, but like it would do the job if needed. Firewood is for sale there via Venmo for $15 for 1 day or $20 for 2 days.

I made a reservation for the same day that I registered. I never got a confirmation. I sent a message to the host and did not hear back with instructions on where to check in or an address.
I also contacted Hipcamp's assistant and was told by the AI assistant that I would be contacted sometime that day.
Never was contacted so I had to find another spot elsewhere.
Please do not try last minute arrangements on this sight.

I loved staying at Alan's land! Quite, beautiful farm, with tons of animals, cattle, llama, horses. It was such a pleasure to talk to Alan, who takes such good care of his lovely farm. We will come back!

This was Hands down One of the Best Experiences Ive had Since I started Camping!! I'm new to the App but the Host Replied to my message before I booked and Helped me understand the App more!! Then I showed up, And Oh My Goshhhhh!!!! I was just expecting a Nice place to camp, But this place is a Campers Dream!! The Nice animals, Nice area, Kayak rides, The Company of Friendly dogs, Everything about this place is 6 of 5 Stars!! Absolutely Love this place!!

Had a great time. Plenty of trees providing shade. Very nice facilities and a huge community fire pit. Kids got a chance to feed the herds on the farm and really enjoyed it.

This camp is beautiful and peaceful. Alan is a wonderful host. He made sure we got the opportunity to enjoy all the fantastic animals he has. There are dogs, horses, donkeys, llamas, cattle, bull frogs, lizards and peacocks. This place is a veritable mini zoo. The sunsets are picture perfect and our camping spot was the best. I highly recommend Alan's hip camp. This is one adventure we will never forgot and definitely plan on repeating.

I felt very at peace staying on Alan’s property and would absolutely return again sometime. From our brief interaction, I could tell he’s good people and loves his animals. There was another family camping on the property, but everyone was respectful. Lots of space to take a walk and unwind. Was able to purchase firewood there at the site.

We LOVED our camping at Alan’s land! It was our young families first time tent camping and we could not have picked a better place! A pond with canoes, farm animals to see, hayride, walking to the “lake”, friendly farm dogs, chickens and peacocks! We picked blackberries too. Alan was a wonderful host and we could tell he was happy to see kids enjoying being in nature. So lucky to get to enjoy this special place.

We loved how much open space there was and seeing all the animals. We stayed one night and car camped, and our three-year-old son had an absolute blast exploring and enjoying the outdoors. The property had a peaceful, family-friendly feel. A few areas could use some updating, and the bathrooms were a bit of a walk from our site. The pond wasn’t quite as pictured and was heavily covered with algae during our visit, but overall we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the unique setting.

We had the pleasure of staying on Alan’s property for 2 nights and 3 days. We brought our 3 dogs and had an amazing time. The property is beautiful. Bathrooms were clean. The people who had been there before us left bags of trash on the ground so the dogs and chickens got into them leaving trash EVERYWHERE, but we cleaned it up for them. There is a small lake with canoes, horse shoes, a large fire pit, grills to use, wild chickens, cows, llamas, horses, and peacocks. We were worried about the dogs based on previous campers reviews but the dogs were a pleasure! Yes as people commented they pee on things… but they are ranch dogs, being ranch dogs. They listen well and were VERY friendly! 2 of which were dumped on the property and Alan has claimed them and cared for them. Bring bicycles if you can, made it easy to ride up to the bathrooms. We also rode out to 2 further ponds on the property and took a little plunge. If you get a chance to talk to Alan, LISTEN. The man is a gem, career teacher that made his dream of having his own Walden pond come true. We are only about 45 minutes away from this 300 acre slice of heaven and will be back as often as we can. Thank you Alan for sharing your property with us, it was an absolute pleasure.

My family had a good time camping at Walden Ranch. We enjoyed canoeing in the pond and walking around the ranch to visit the various animals. The amenities were great and my kids especially loved all the ranch dogs that were running around. The only issue was that there must have been a broken water pipe because most of the campground was flooded and it was difficult to find a spot to set up our tent that wasn't wet and soggy. We also weren't able to use the horseshoe court, which we would have loved to, because it was in the flooded area.

We always have a great time here! There were 2 new dogs who acted like puppies. My daughter loves animals, but we are a 1-cat family, so it was great to get to interact with them! We walked over to the small pond (even though it was hot), had a brief canoe excursion, and roasted tofu dogs and marshmallows. All while being serenaded by bullfrogs and other wildlife. In the morning, Brian introduced us to his huge black pig Adrian. 🐷

Alan’s land is beautiful and accommodating! I loved visiting the animals and scenic lakes on the property. The only thing that might bother visiting campers is the noise of the birds at night but it didn’t bother me and should be expected of a ranch. Lovely place!

Walden Ranch is the a great place to relax, we've been here several times now and always enjoy the grounds and scenery. Last night we watched the full moon rise over the lake from the fireplace. The animals are all friendly and the dogs add such a great touch. Can't wait to go back.

This was the best camping trip we have had. So much space for my kids to roam and the animals are so friendly. A perfect getaway close to home. Only 30 minutes from Stockton and clean bathrooms. This will be our new go to camping place. Thanks Alan!

I REALLY loved my stay here. The property is beautiful. I was bummed I was only passing through. Allen is a really cool guy with a lot of fun stories I would have loved to talk to him more. I had a good time walking around talking to the geese, peacocks, chickens, cows, horses, llamas, and dogs. Bathrooms are nice. I had phone signal if that is important to you. There is a pond but the bugs surprisingly weren't bad at all. I felt safe, but I was unaware peacocks and roosters do not care what time it is and scream at all hours and I am a light sleeper.

Alan's place was perfect to pitch my tent for one night: nicely shaded, soft grass, friendly animals roaming around (chickens, peacocks). There's water, a sink and restrooms. The campground is easy to find. Would definitely stay again!

I loved our car camping experience at Walden’s Ranch. We were surrounded by animals all weekend, on our first day we were greeted by pigs, peacocks, alpacas, and chickens. We were also able to take an evening walk to an extended lake on the property. One note I would make is to be prepared for the smell as you will be staying on a farm.

My dog and I were greeted by a little dog on arrival who hung out while I set up.
I messaged Alan a question about the dogs and he came to greet us with several dogs who were social with me; he shared some were dumped there that he continues to give lots of great care for 🥹
I kept my dog in the vehicle most of the time (except when Alan was on the other side of the property with the dogs) because my dog would’ve struggled with one of the big dogs’ behavior. I am a dog behavior professional and observed this dog bullying the other dogs, at one point repeatedly pinning and growling toward a herding breed dog even after the herding dog tried many strategies to get relief/away, like look aways/avoidance/moving away/appeasement signals and staying prolongedly frozen on the ground). My dog is socially savvy and generally enjoys other dogs; I just wasn’t comfortable having her interact with that dog.
In the morning, I woke up to one of the larger dogs jumping and scratching my car door (camping setup in vehicle so that’s where I slept) which my dog was scared by.
I enjoyed Alan’s animals—chickens, roosters, peacocks, llamas, cows, horses, and dogs (and probably more) and loved hearing about Alan’s dogs, animals, land, and stories.
My suggestion might be to fence off some Hipcamp area so the farm dogs can still roam freely but Hipcampers (and their cars/dogs) can have a barrier between them and the farm dogs when it’s helpful.
Overall a great place to stay!

Alan's a very warm and friendly host. I had the campground to myself. Except for the farm animals and the friendly dog pack, I enjoyed my seclusion. Grassy campground, little dust. Beautiful.

In this spring season upon entering Walden Ranch Camp, I was greeted with blooming flowers and numerous trees offering shady rest from the sun. I experienced a sense of peace and serenity in Walden Ranch Camp. One becomes relaxed with the splendor of foliage.
Mr. Alan Hanson, the camp owner, was very welcoming and friendly to me. He offered pertinent information about the camp for me. He wants to make sure that each camper can be at ease while staying at the camp. I appreciated his willingness to visit with me and provide information about the camp.
Peace is present at the camp, however, our animal friends enjoy offering calls, chirps and voices in this setting at Walden Ranch. So, sit back and enjoy the cacophony of sounds coming from our animal friends, both wild and domesticated geese, peacocks, dogs, cattle, and roosters and hens. Our animal friends also have a very large role to contribute in the natural order.
Walden Ranch Camp is a place where one can return to a simpler time. There is a certain earthiness at Walden Ranch. In many ways, Walden Ranch offers each camper a grounding in the fabric of the earth. These camping experiences at Walden Ranch Camp help protect us from the distortions in our culture.
I recommend Walden Ranch Camp as a place to regain a vibrant connection with nature.

Amazing private place with pond, friendly dogs, great host and more! So many animals; gorgeous sunrise and sunset. Good mix of shade and sun. It can get loud at night if you’re not used to animal sounds. We’ve been before and will be back!
