Cinco de Mayo Event (May 3rd-5th, 2024) Our ranch was originally part of the enchanted Rock property owned by Mr Moss. It is currently a 6th generation ranch. Original ranch was 1767 acres. The highest elevation is 1600'. You can locate us on Google Earth by searching for Dooley Wahl Rd Llano, Texas. We have secluded camping available. Primitive tent camping, or if you want to go glamping you can bring an RV with a generator and be even more secluded but still have the comfortable amenities of an RV. IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN RV...no worries! Contact outdoorsy.com. you can rent an RV. They will deliver it, set it up and pick it up. Remember to ask for a generator. You don't have to bring wood. We got yuh covered! There is a porta potty at the dig site. We are currently working on getting an outside bathroom and shower area. Firepit musicians welcome! Bring your instruments! Bring bikes, dirt bikes, atv or mule. Rock hounds who love to pick up rocks will love this place. Photographers who enjoy taking pictures of nature and wildlife will love this! If you enjoy looking for treasures like Arrowheads and artifacts you can participate in one of our large screen digs. You can pay for large screen digs when you arrive and see how it works! You can fish! We allow Jeep rock crawling. You can Target practice. Hand guns/side arms are permitted. Lots of room for kids to run and play! Let them be kids! Family get away, romantic secluded get away! The skies are limitless! Take home anything mother nature makes. Plants, rocks, feathers and more! During the month of February March and April the ranch provides a safe space with no electric lines in the 1500' long Sandy bottom dry creek. Leaving you with straight Lanes to you kites. We have 10 horses at domestic Pig that is our pet. A stock tank for fishing Granite hills and mountains for hiking or scaling the rock faces. We also offer hand digging surface hunting personal screening or large screen digs for Indian artifacts such as tools or ArrowheadAll terrain vehicles campers and RVs are welcome for a one time fee of $25 perm vehicle per visitIf primitive camping is more your style primitive camping as welcome!We have a rustic cabin complete with kitchen fridge stove microwave Broiler oven a large room with twin size bed frames and and AC unit as well as a working bathroom sink toilet and shower We welcome families youth organizations and people who are artifact hunting as well as alternative families looking for a place that is safe where they can bring their children and experience Mother Nature in a safe environment. Tent Camping with my Doggo!

I came out for a camping weekend with my pup. We set up a tent at one of their spots, and we had a really good time. The ranch manager, Tim, was extremely kind and helpful. He showed us to our site, answered a ton of questions, and gave good advice on where to explore and what to do. Maggie was amazing to work with throughout the whole experience. We would absolutely come back!!

Riverbed Primitive Camp

My girlfriend and I camped near the river bed and enjoyed the views, the animals, and exploring the property. The camp is about 45 minutes from enchanted rock, which we hiked for a day, and also 30 minutes from Llano where we picked up supplies and swam in the river. All around we had a great weekend, and Maggi, Tim, and Noah are excellent hosts! Thanks again!

Hill country at its best

Upon entering I was greeted by the host. They were very familiar with the land and after describing the kind of site I was looking for they guided me to a perfect spot. This land is in the heart of the Texas hill country so you are surround by stunning geography and wildlife. It is a dream camp for hunters or those looking for adventure on an ATV. I’m looking forward to returning.

We had an incredible time with Maggi and crew at the ranch. The land was beautiful, plenty of camping spots and room to spread out, great hike up to the plateau with tremendous views. Everyone was helpful and working hard to put on a great event. It was all that and more! The campfire gatherings and music each night really were the icing on the cake. Extremely welcoming and inclusive, we felt right at home immediately. Had no idea we'd travel all the way from Portland, Oregon and I find family in rural Texas.

Eclipse camp

We came out to camp for the eclipse. All of the staff and volunteers were super friendly and very helpful. The Porta potties were very clean. There was firewood, laying all around for you to use. Maggi the Ranch owner and camp host was amazing. She is very friendly, kind and knowledgeable about the land. You can basically do whatever you want as long a you have respect for the land and animals. I would definitely recommend enjoying this magical place.

Flower Fields Forever!

I'm still picking my jaw off the floor! I've never seen so many wildflowers in my life. We came for two nights during the eclipse, and stayed at two different spots so we could experience different views. I can't say enough good things! Everyone we met was incredibly helpful and kind, and offered up recommended spots and areas to check out on the property. The carpet of stars at night, the constant medley of bird song, the humming of pollinators doing their thing -- we were blown away. We chose to stay in a fairly "remote" spot, but it was still only a .5 mile hike to the nearest porta potty (I imagine these move around or get scaled back during slower times, but they came in handy during out stay) 10/10, couldn't have asked for a lovelier place to spend two nights. Thank you for making it a special time! We would love to come back some day.

The Great American Eclipse of 2024

The land is beautiful and peaceful. Despite the eclipse crowd, campers were dispersed so it felt very private and roomy. The staff were exceptionally accommodating, checking frequently to see if we needed anything. They also were mindful of grouping campers near other compatible people. I connected with other seasoned (Boomer) women campers and felt surrounded by kindred spirits. Maggi did a phenomenal job of pulling this together and she and Tim were outstanding in keeping the delightful crew coordinated. Viewing the eclipse with only one other friend in the middle of the wide open wash, surrounded by the carpet of bluebonnets, gazing up at the big sky is an experience I will never forget! My week at the ranch was the best camping ever! I hated to leave, but will definitely go back!

Amazing views and sites for primitive camping. Came for eclipse and though we had cloudy skies, the ranch and staff was great! They even gave everyone eggs filled with confetti for totality! Definitely would recommend and if we’re ever back in the area we will check availability for a night or two! Thanks Maggi and staff!

Lots of privacy

This was truly dispersed camping. You will need to bring lots of water. There were no amenities, except for porta-potties located about 1/4 mile away. We had over 5 acres all to ourselves. It was very private. We couldn't see or hear any other campers. There were lots of areas to hike and explore. The ecosystem was vibrant with flowers and birds. There were no mosquitos near us. We could hear turkeys and coyotes in the early morning.

The natural setting is so beautiful with flowers, rock formations, and chirping birds. Campsites are secluded and other campers are around but only off in the distance. Staff was helpful but not intrusive. Walking the road up to the pond or to visit the goats was enjoyable. Stayed three nights and all good.

Eclipse on a gorgeous Texas Ranch

So beautiful and historic. The land is varied with so much to look at and hike between and oh the flowers! We had a crew of very helpful hosts during our time for the eclipse. Two of our neighbors needed battery help which the staff was happy to provide. Thank you Maggie and crew.

Absolutely stunning property! We came here 2 nights to see the eclipse, and still managed to snag a secluded spot. Plenty of places to explore. It was such a fun, community vibe! They had live music and more during the eclipse event too. The people working on the ranch were always so helpful and kind. They brought us firewood to our spot with their 4-wheelers. Also, the port-a-potties were kept super clean. They have their setup figured out. Would definitely camp here again!

A+ Camping Experience

This is an exceptional place to camp in the Texas Hill Country. The sprawling property (hundreds of acres) lets you really spread out, and the lush, hilly landscape always helps maintain a sense of privacy from any neighbors. We chose this place to watch the eclipse because even if the weather wouldn't let us see it, we'd have plenty to do, in a beautiful setting. From check-in to check-out, the staff were wonderful (Wendelful?). They found the perfect spot for our RV with a bit of elevation in a wildflower meadow with lovely views. They also made sure we were comfortable and well stocked with firewood. Really A+ service for a campsite and worth every penny.

Wendeful really equals wonderful

We camped our 1969 Shasta camper on a sweet spot resplendent with wildflowers and birds. Not only was the location peaceful and beautiful, but everyone was so helpful, friendly, and kind. I highly recommend!

Firstly, we really did have a great time, the land is beautiful and Tim (the onsite employee) was so so kind and wonderful. I did feel a bit mislead with the amenities and accessibility of the property. Firstly, it was listed that a bathroom/port-a-potty option was available at the campsite, only to find out upon arrival that it is only available at peak times/big digs and that there wasn't one available. Then it was also very hard to navigate in our compact car. We were unable to drive really anywhere outside of our tent site to enjoy parts of the property like the pond. We tried to walk there but it was a bit of a haul with a kiddo under the age of 5. I think that information up front would have impacted our choice in reserving a campsite. Again, we still enjoyed our time, and the property, but I think some of that information would be helpful when making plans.

Just what we wanted

Everyone at Maggi’s ranch was kind and thoughtful. Tim was especially helpful! He even drove us to the pond so that we could fish. Our tent camping site was peaceful, quiet, private, and had a great view. Some of the horses on the ranch came by our site for a visit, making our experience extra special. Next time we will bring apples and carrots for them. And there will be a next time!

Beautiful land and great spot

Maggi’s land was absolutely beautiful. We were shown to the tent area by Tim who was awesome and extremely helpful. Tent spots were bare bones with just a fire pit, but that’s to be expected based on the listing but if you’re fine with that I highly recommend this spot. It was super cool walking the creek bed and looking for finds and just getting to spend time on that land. They had an RV area as well and way more property we didn’t get to check out because of time constraints. Will definitely be coming back in the future!

A special place.

Maggi's ranch is a special place. We loved our stay there over a long weekend. The ranch itself is beautiful with amazing and varied topology and geology, many points of interest and an amazing variety of plants and wildlife. We had rented a camper and had it delivered to a site that Maggi selected based on our pretty specific requests. She hit it on the nose too! Perfect placement and very thoughtful. We were a little out of the way, away from other campers and lights, in a secluded but accessible clearing surrounded by trees with a great view of the nearby hills. It was beautiful. Maggi and Tim were excellent hosts, greeting us and spending all the time we needed with us to get us settled in. They did just the right amount of checking in on us to make sure we had what we needed, and giving us space and room to breathe otherwise. Tim, in particular, spent additional time just visiting with us and telling us about the history of the place and its many stories, and some of his own. We will definitely return, hopefully sooner than later.
