Our 40 acre property is home to four quiet, secure, exclusive river front sites on the mighty Clarence River. Boating, fishing and crabbing literally at your doorstep. And it's just a 15 minute drive into the towns of Yamba and Maclean.
To ensure all our guests have a comfortable and spacious experience, each campsite is designated for one camp set up only (eg one caravan or camper trailer or tent) This allows us to maintain a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere with plenty of space between sites.
The campsites are situated right on the bank of the mighty Clarence River, perfectly suited for campers who enjoy the peace and quiet.
Please note:
Our sites are available for booking up to 3 months in advance.
Our property is inhabited by a few cattle and kangaroos and on occasions a couple of visiting brolgas. The private boat ramp is accessible at the main house which is about 100 metres from your campsite. You are welcome to make use of our canoe or kayak which are kept up at the main house.
Pets are welcome but must be kept under control.
Campfires are allowed permitting there are no restrictions in place.
Each campsite has it's own firepit surround in which to light your camp fire. Firewood is available for purchase.
Campers must bring their own toilet and be fully self sufficient. Leave the site as you found it and take all waste with you on departure. The campsite is accessible by 2WD and can accommodate caravans, campervans and camper trailers. The sites are generally level and grassy.

Our property is situated on the North Coast of NSW, 1.5 hours south of Byron Bay in a glorious climate. It is unique because we have 5 acres of land, lots trees for shade, mowed grass and Eastern Grey kangaroos visit morning and evening.
Situated in a very quiet neighbourhood, no street lights, magic night skies but only 10 minutes drive to local shops in Maclean, 15 minutes to Yuraygir National Park, fantastic views at Brooms Head, 15 minutes to Yamba's renowned surfing beaches. Did I mention fishing? Clarence River, ocean beaches, boat ramps only 10 minutes away.
Only a small number of campsites which ensures that you have space to spread out, light a fire, play ball, have fun.
We have a toilet and water available close to sites. Suits tent camping, camper vans, caravans or vehicles. Plenty of room for boat parking if needed. You are welcome to bring your dog, as long as it is under control, and cannot chase our kangaroos. Birdlife in abundance as well, including 3 Wedgetail eagles on occasions.
In order to provide a quiet environment for everyone we ask that there be no loud music at night. Consider others in the locality at all times.

So whether you indulge in pants off, or leave them on and just fish it’s up to you.
Explore a little further and you’ll find ‘The Abyss’ a former micro quarry, 9m deep waterhole.
The creeks have waterfalls, swimming holes, pure and clean, though are a rugged unmarked hike.
The sites are site only. You’ll need to take care of your waste, water, rubbish and power. Generator is ok, we’re out of earshot, so is everyone else.
Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit and an abundance of ‘cut your own’ firewood upon the ground.
Remember, fires this time of year are for ‘cooking only’, so be sure to bring those marshmallows…
Pet Friendly, 4WD friendly with a bunch of serious challenges too… Horse friendly too, yep, there’s a yard to keep them too, up by the house.

The Groundswell Guest Camp would love to welcome you to enjoy an exclusive camp in a tranquil native bush setting. The camp is located on 100 acres of unique grasstree forest in Taloumbi, NSW. We are just 10 minutes off the Pacific Highway, between Maclean and Brooms Head. The camp is currently set up for private use for one booking. Please contact the host first for group bookings (up to 15 persons).
There is a sink with filtered rain water on the deck, an instant gas hot water shower behind the main deck and also a compost toilet. There is a small solar power set up to run the sink and shower pump. The site in OFF-GRID on tank water only, so it is important to be mindful of water use and make sure taps are off when not in use. Bring your own cooker, lights and chairs. Mosquitos come and go depending on weather or season. It is good to be prepared with coils/sprays just in case.
Pets are welcome, but must be on a leash if they are a threat to wildlife.
You can swim in the dam when full. Enjoy a meditation or sunset drink over looking the dam and admiring the wildlife that also use the watering hole. Please relax and enjoy your time at Groundswell.
We are currently working on a network of trails inside of the 100 acres. There is a "TRAIL" sign at the start of the trail behind the orchard.
The Spa at Groundswell is now open at the owners home. Please contact the host for massage. Limited times are available.
Our nearest beaches are just 5-10 minutes at the Yuraygir National Park Campground entrance and the beautiful quiet beach town of Brooms Head. Brooms Head has a general store and a snack shack, coffee and convenient essentials. Fishing, boating, spear fishing, surfing, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, kite surfing, motor bike trails (Candole State Forest), coastal walks, and beach walks. Yamba is a 30 minutes drive and has great surfing beaches, plenty of café options, shopping, a lighthouse, breakwall walk and fishing.

Shark Creek Retreat is an ongoing conservation project, where I call myself the caretaker of these beautiful wetlands. Our 40 acre property is home to four quiet, secure, exclusive river front sites on the mighty Clarence River. Boating, fishing and crabbing literally at your doorstep. And it's just a 15 minute drive into the towns of Yamba and Maclean.
To ensure all our guests have a comfortable and spacious experience, each campsite is designated for one camp set up only (eg one caravan or camper trailer or tent) This allows us to maintain a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere with plenty of space between sites.
The campsites are situated right on the bank of the mighty Clarence River, perfectly suited for campers who enjoy the peace and quiet.
Please note:
Our sites are available for booking up to 3 months in advance.
Our property is inhabited by a few cattle and kangaroos and on occasions a couple of visiting brolgas. The private boat ramp is accessible at the main house which is about 100 metres from your campsite. You are welcome to make use of our canoe or kayak which are kept up at the main house.
Pets are welcome but must be kept under control.
Campfires are allowed permitting there are no restrictions in place.
Each campsite has it's own firepit surround in which to light your camp fire. Firewood is available for purchase.
Campers must bring their own toilet and be fully self sufficient. Leave the site as you found it and take all waste with you on departure. The campsite is accessible by 2WD and can accommodate caravans, campervans and camper trailers. The sites are generally level and grassy.

In close proximity to us are shopping centres, surfing beaches and areas of outstanding natural beauty.
We operate as a cottage industry, processing alpaca fleece & manufacturing products from it. We regularly conduct tours & maintain a small farm shop.
We also offer a full range of home-cooked meals.

Our property is situated on the North Coast of NSW, 1.5 hours south of Byron Bay in a glorious climate. It is unique because we have 5 acres of land, lots trees for shade, mowed grass and Eastern Grey kangaroos visit morning and evening.
Situated in a very quiet neighbourhood, no street lights, magic night skies but only 10 minutes drive to local shops in Maclean, 15 minutes to Yuraygir National Park, fantastic views at Brooms Head, 15 minutes to Yamba's renowned surfing beaches. Did I mention fishing? Clarence River, ocean beaches, boat ramps only 10 minutes away.
Only a small number of campsites which ensures that you have space to spread out, light a fire, play ball, have fun.
We have a toilet and water available close to sites. Suits tent camping, camper vans, caravans or vehicles. Plenty of room for boat parking if needed. You are welcome to bring your dog, as long as it is under control, and cannot chase our kangaroos. Birdlife in abundance as well, including 3 Wedgetail eagles on occasions.
In order to provide a quiet environment for everyone we ask that there be no loud music at night. Consider others in the locality at all times.

Metres away is another private swimming hole ‘Pants Off Pond’ stocked with Silver Perch and Bass.
So whether you indulge in pants off, or leave them on and just fish it’s up to you.
Explore a little further and you’ll find ‘The Abyss’ a former micro quarry, 9m deep waterhole.
The creeks have waterfalls, swimming holes, pure and clean, though are a rugged unmarked hike.
The sites are site only. You’ll need to take care of your waste, water, rubbish and power. Generator is ok, we’re out of earshot, so is everyone else.
Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit and an abundance of ‘cut your own’ firewood upon the ground.
Remember, fires this time of year are for ‘cooking only’, so be sure to bring those marshmallows…
Pet Friendly, 4WD friendly with a bunch of serious challenges too… Horse friendly too, yep, there’s a yard to keep them too, up by the house.
Accessible by 2WD with sites with enough space for any size caravan or motor home.

The Groundswell Guest Camp would love to welcome you to enjoy an exclusive camp in a tranquil native bush setting. The camp is located on 100 acres of unique grasstree forest in Taloumbi, NSW. We are just 10 minutes off the Pacific Highway, between Maclean and Brooms Head. The camp is currently set up for private use for one booking. Please contact the host first for group bookings (up to 15 persons).
There is a sink with filtered rain water on the deck, an instant gas hot water shower behind the main deck and also a compost toilet. There is a small solar power set up to run the sink and shower pump. The site in OFF-GRID on tank water only, so it is important to be mindful of water use and make sure taps are off when not in use. Bring your own cooker, lights and chairs. Mosquitos come and go depending on weather or season. It is good to be prepared with coils/sprays just in case.
Pets are welcome, but must be on a leash if they are a threat to wildlife.
You can swim in the dam when full. Enjoy a meditation or sunset drink over looking the dam and admiring the wildlife that also use the watering hole. Please relax and enjoy your time at Groundswell.
We are currently working on a network of trails inside of the 100 acres. There is a "TRAIL" sign at the start of the trail behind the orchard.
The Spa at Groundswell is now open at the owners home. Please contact the host for massage. Limited times are available.
Our nearest beaches are just 5-10 minutes at the Yuraygir National Park Campground entrance and the beautiful quiet beach town of Brooms Head. Brooms Head has a general store and a snack shack, coffee and convenient essentials. Fishing, boating, spear fishing, surfing, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, kite surfing, motor bike trails (Candole State Forest), coastal walks, and beach walks. Yamba is a 30 minutes drive and has great surfing beaches, plenty of café options, shopping, a lighthouse, breakwall walk and fishing.

Shark Creek Retreat is an ongoing conservation project, where I call myself the caretaker of these beautiful wetlands. They must be controlled as sheep are nearby and we have an abundance of wildlife.
We have a slackline, a rope swing and badmitten for anyone looking to include more play in their stay!

This was a great spot to camp. Very quiet, open, but private and close to brooms head beach. Easy access and a great host. I’d stay here again.

It’s a beautiful property complete with kangaroos, ducks and all sorts of wildlife. Lupe and Ben are brilliant and generous hosts who went to great lengths to ensure our stay was a great one. We’ll be back whenever we come back this way.

Rod was a great guy and his property was a perfect little Pit stop between our destinations about 10-15 minutes of the main drag and we spent the night surrounded but the sounds of nature and the stunning views in the sky he also has a few very little walking tracks around his property which was nice to wonder around and for the kids to explore thanks again

I had a perfect experience tent camping here! Lupe, the host, was so nice and made my stay very relaxed and comfortable. The kangaroos visiting at sunset and grazing in the morning was so cool to see. All in all I had a great time and can only recommend camping here.

Stayed for one night on our way back home from holiday. Really enjoyed the spot, especially the fishing, wish we had another day or two there. My son caught a nice flathead from the jetty on lure. I got spooled on my little bream rod with 6lb leader something massive taking my prawn bait and I couldn’t stop it. Later the night we caught a few catfish on bait which was fun, and a small stingray as well. My son got broken off by something big too, possibly a big stingray.

We loved our stay here at Riverview island paradise because it was peaceful and relaxing on a beautiful river bank land. The sugarcane fields were a great view on the drive in and the well keep land is amazing! Squiggles makes the campground very welcoming and accommodating with an awesome DIY bathroom facility including a portaloo and gas camp shower. He provides many unique firepits, loads of fishing spots and an all around nice camping area. His 2 dogs and 2 chickens even came for a wonder down to our camp to say hello. Absolutely loved our stay, we will definitely be back soon!

If you want a true Aussie bush camp this is it. If you want to be surrounded by Australian flora and fauna this is the place. Cicadas to bandicoots all amongst the gums trees. Give respect, get respect is the motto here. The bee hive toilets are awesome and super clean, plus you get fresh potable (drinkable, 20L) water on arrival. Mick himself is a pretty cool bush fella, you will get the opportunity to meet him! All in all a really great camp in the bush.

Wow wow unreal Hipcamp!
My partner and I have used Hipcamp for a few years now and this place is in the top 5.
Location: beautiful spot next to the river and really close to Yamba and Maclean. Also very private and quiet.
Amenities: spotless! Most Hipcamp don’t offer bathroom or shower but these amenities were spotless and easy to use. There was also kayaks, fishing rods and yabi nets for guests to use.
Host: squiggles is your classic top tier Australian bloke. He checked on our group each afternoon to ensure we were ok or needed anything. He also had firewood available with elevated fire pits which was an added bonus.
Experience: to add to our already amazing stay we also got to try some sugar cane from squiggles farm. He even chopped it in front us which was amazing to watch!
This Hipcamp is hands down worth the visit! Thanks for having us squiggles - we will be back

When to go
The NSW north coast gets very busy during summer school holidays, but February and March are pretty crowd-free with many accommodation options. Even in winter—when you’ve got a good chance of seeing migrating whales from the many headland vantage points—the weather is usually very kind. Swimming is best from October to May, while autumn is ideal for beach fishing.
Know before you go
- Road rules are the same on beaches as they are on bitumen roads, except that the maximum speed limit allowed on beaches is 40 kilometres per hour. Also keep an eye out for nesting seabirds…and sunbathers.
- Iluka tour operators offer kayak tours, snorkelling, bikes, standup paddle boarding, and kayak hires.
- Recreational fishing licenses are mandatory in New South Wales. Find them online or at most fishing bait-and-tackle shops.
