Peaceful Prairie Campsites consists of 200+ acres of prairie pasture bordering the south side of Scotts Bluff National Monument. Under the care of third generation steward, Lisa Betz-Marquez, the beautiful bluffs feature a stunning backdrop to a those seeking a private and peaceful experience, birding, wildlife-spotting, or an adventure-seeking hike.
Rustic Tent sites (allowing cars, vans, rooftop tents, truck campers, and motorcycles, but not RVs or pull-behind trailers) are located directly on the prairie.
The prairie is a fragile environment. To preserve its beauty and health, trailers and RVs must book the RV sites. We appreciate your cooperation.
RV sites 50 amp electricity and a rustic experience on crushed concrete near our corral. You'll have foot access just steps from the prairie.
All sites share access to delicious potable water, a clean porta potty, and a funky outdoor camp shower (with unheated water), as well as private foot access to hiking at various levels of challenge to the south side of our nation's Scotts Bluff National Monument.
A small group of yearling cattle are at home on the prairie in summer months, and may share you the prairie tent area with campers in the months of May and June.
Prairie guests have relished the feeling of having the place to themselves to enjoy the majesty of the landscape, the magic of our starry night skies and the soulful communion with the land.
Lisa is the fourth generation of her family to live on Valley View Farm, located directly south of the prairie. Her family has been steward of these lands since 1925. Lisa is a member of a pioneer family. Ancestor, Martin Gering, came to the valley in 1887. As an early investor in the fledgling town, the town of Gering was named for him. We invite you to enjoy our organic vegetable seed farm with its trees, nearby water, and abundant wildlife. You’ll see pelicans, turtles, herons, and other creatures, plus a few non-poisonous bullsnakes that help keep the mice at bay.
From our property, you’ll have the opportunity to experience nature on a working farm. Scotts Bluff National Monument is visible from the land and just a 15-minute drive away, along with the extensive Legacy of the Plains Museum. And nothing compares to a Nebraska sunrise or sunset, with skies exploding in unforgettable colors.
We are experienced farmers, and Nathan is a master naturalist who can lead hikes at nearby sites, including the Wildcat Hills. We also offer our farm products—grass-fed hamburger, garlic, and vegetable seeds—available for sale year-round. Seasonal vegetables and eggs may also be available.
Throughout the year, we host special events through the Living Environment Foundation. Our largest gatherings include the Ancestral Skills Festival in August and the Seed Fest in autumn.
This is a century farm, and the barn you’ll see on the property is over 100 years old and still in great condition. These are also the ancestral lands of the Lakota tribe. We are grateful for their stewardship and aim to honor their tradition of caring for the land through our certified organic and biodynamic farming practices.

Just over 3 hours from Denver, BE Farm offers more than just a place to spend the night—it’s a full immersion in farm life, nature, and wide-open skies. With Nebraska’s iconic Chimney Rock just 8 miles south, Scotts Bluff National Monument 25 miles west, and Carhenge 40 miles northeast, adventure is never far. At night, the Milky Way lights up the sky—so vivid it feels like you could scoop it up in your hand.
The campsite is nestled along Wildhorse Creek, shaded by trees and surrounded by wildlife. Deer, raccoons, and native birds are common visitors, and Rainbow and Brown trout glide through the waters (note: no fishing is allowed).
In summer, you might spot Farmer Billy tending crops or setting irrigation at sunrise and sunset—it’s all part of the BE Farm experience.
During October, it’s Pumpkin Patch season at BE Farm, and with your stay, you’ll be welcome to enjoy all the fall vibes at the Farm.
A quick note: The Farm is open to the public on Fridays (4 p.m.–dark), Saturdays (10 a.m.–9 p.m.), and Sundays (10 a.m.–6 p.m.). Farmer Billy will do his best to ensure you enjoy your time here, but please note that other guests will be present at the farm during open hours. The camping spot is set off to the side, so you should not be bothered by the public during your visit. If you have questions, please let me know.

This was the best site I've ever camped at and can't recommend it enough! You're all to yourself but still nearby other sites. The town, as well as Scottsbluff NM and Chimney Rock, are close by. Lisa was an excellent host, wish we could've talked longer! Make sure you're well prepared for the weather...the wind swept through the canyon just right and snapped our tent. Will definitely look for this place again the next time I come out!

This land is gorgeous and we felt so lucky to camp there. We decided to camp last minute on our cross country road trip back home to Idaho and it happened to be my birthday. The sunset was incredible and the prairie was gorgeous. Be prepared for the wind!

Wow, it was raining HARD when we were driving towards the Peaceful Prairie location and the road condition concerned Lisa. She contacted us right away about getting into our spot and settled. Through the hip camp site/app and LIsa's guidance, we found our spot just fine and had a nice evening in the drizzle. Woke up to some beautiful fog and singing birds. The road does get a little greasy with that kind of rain, but we did fine.

I came here from Colorado for a weekend getaway and wasn't disappointed. The farm and flowers are beautiful. The spot I camped was right next to a little river. The owner, Billy, was very nice and helpful. The farm cat Sir Gordon camped with me for the weekend. You can pick and make your own flower arrangement during season. There is a water spigot and firewood for sale . The closest store is a dollar general about 10 minutes away. Farm is about 30 minutes east of Scott's Bluff Monument.

Get up close and personal with 20-million-year-old fossils at Agate Fossil Beds. This high-plains monument has 4 miles of trails and a huge collection of artifacts.
Hit the trails to see where ancient creatures once roamed the plains. Hop on the Daemonlix trail for a walk to strange twisted formations rising from the earth. Though their name—Devil's Corkscrew—is alarming, these swirls are harmless. They were once burrows for little creatures called paleocastors, the ancestor of the beaver. On the Fossil Hills Trail, check out 1900s-era excavation sites. Here, you can see where bone-hunters found massive "Miocene monsters". The craziest? The Daphoenodon, which was part bear, part dog. Or maybe that would be the terrifying Dinohyus, better known as the hell pig.
After your hike, head to the monument's museum. It has more than 500 Plains Indians artifacts collected by rancher James Cook. Among them are gifts from legendary Lakota Chief, Red Cloud. Buckskin suits and painted hides are among the treasures.
There are plenty of camping areas within 10 miles of the fossil beds. The Nebraska high plains offer everything from primitive spots to luxurious RV amenities. This is ranch country, so be on the lookout for cowboys and cattle.
