This lake was formed when U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built Pine Flat Dam in 1954 on the Kings River. At maximum capacity, it holds one million-acres (said in a Dr. Evil voice) of water.
Nestled in the central Sierra Nevada foothills near Fresno, this lake boasts plenty of watery activities. Oak and pine high-five along 67 miles of shoreline. Escape the heat of the Central Valley with some boating, jet-skiing or excellent fishing.
Itâs a great place to take kids camping for the first time. Playgrounds, volleyball courts, and horseshoes will keep them entertained. Thereâs also the quarter-mile Blue Oak Interpretative Trail, itâs a perfect length for little legs to discover hiking.
Spending the night at this lake offers a variety of choices. There are two reservable campsites, Island Park and Trimmer Campgr
