The place is great, however, the instructions to get there were bad. The name of the camp listed is different then the actual name, when we got their the gate was closed and it says the host will greet you and show you to your site but the place was abandoned. We called and messaged the host but he didn’t answer until it was too late. We would love to go back but they need to update the instructions.

We got into camp pretty late coming from the coast. Getting up to the camp was a little challenging, but with our hosts help we got in with minimal headache. The location at the lake and the hospitality provided by Brian was excellent. I would highly recommend camping in this serene location!

Great “summer camp” vibes!
Great property with lots to do. Took my 15 year old daughter and three friends on 9/22/23 and had the whole place to ourselves. It’s isolated & pretty, but there’s some infrastructure (very clean bathrooms, a giant open sided gathering/dining area, and an amphitheater set up with a giant fire ring). It’s signposted as an “Armenian Church Camp” and it has the feel of a summer camp. I can imagine it being great for large groups. Highlights for my teenage crew were the canoes on the lake as they found just jump into those independently (but I could still keep an eye!). Also volley ball, basket ball & soccer (bring balls - we also brought badminton). They also loved exploring the entire property 2 lakes, trails etc). Brian was great & responsive. Chris (on site caretaker) was there to meet us and show us where to go even though it was after 9pm Friday when we arrived. Location is great for Kings Canyon/Sequoias which is only 30 mins away.

Camp Hye Sierra
It was close to the entrance, very peaceful and great fishing on the little pond! Our host was very responsive, met us there and even offered some advice on park closures. Highly recommend this gem of a spot!

Camp Hye Sierra
Amazing site with lots to do!
Our group loved this campsite. We went during a heatwave, but felt comfortable in the shade. The amenities including the canoes, lake, and the basketball court were all great and fun to use. The showers and bathrooms were awesome to have too. Our dog especially enjoyed all the space there was to run around. I’d recommend bringing some bug nets and a canopy if flies bother you. Overall, we loved everything and hope to camp here again someday!

Solitude at Camp Hye Sierra!
Just a short drive to both Kings Canyon National Park and Sequoia National Park, Camp Hye Sierra is in a prime location for peaceful relaxation, or memorable adventure. I would describe our stay at Hye Sierra Camp as a pure joy. Our kind host, Gary, was amazing right from the start. Gary was great at keeping in contact with us to make sure we made it to camp safely. Upon our arrival, he kindly walked us around the property and highlighted all the amenities and facilities that would be available to us during our stay. Thank you, Gary! During our short stay at Camp Hye Sierra, we set up our tent on a level, grassy site near a tranquil pond and grand pavilion. The camping plot, and, in fact, the entire property, was very well-maintained, and came equipped with a basketball court, volleyball court, soccer field, canoes, and many great places to kick back and take it easy. There is truly something for everyone to enjoy here! We also had access to a huge bathroom facility with showers and flushing toilets. In short, this Hipcamp offered everything my husband and I could possibly need for a delightful camping experience, and so much more. Camp Hye Sierra was beautiful, peaceful, and exquisitely quiet. The sense of solitude up there made it a perfect destination to relax, unwind, and recharge. Thank you for sharing your Hipcamp with us, Gary. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with you at Hye Sierra Camp, and deeply appreciate your genuine hospitality.
