Hi there! 🌞 We're thrilled to welcome you to Agape Gardens, our 30-acre homestead nestled in the Gatineau Hills. Our property is more than just land; it's a dream we've nurtured and cultivated with love—a place to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with nature. We have several unique spots for staying, each with its own vibe: cozy bell tents, our minimalist A-frame cabin, and sites to bring your own tent or RV/camper. Whether you’re here for a solo retreat, a family getaway, or simply a break from the city, you'll be surrounded by the peace and calm of the land. We’re open year-round, and guests are invited to embrace the beauty of winter as well. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can experience the quiet magic of winter camping, with snowy forest views, crisp fresh air, and the warmth of our wood-fired sauna just steps away. For rest and relaxation, you can warm up in the sauna, cool off in the cold plunge, or try a venik session—a traditional sauna ritual with aromatic branches that feels incredible on the body (available in the extras section). On the property, you’ll find a pond to explore, trails to wander, wildflower gardens, chickens, and an edible garden. We’re passionate about conscious living and have designed our land using permaculture principles to create a thriving, edible landscape. We look forward to hosting you and sharing the magic of our land. Come, relax, explore, and reconnect with the simplicity of life—no matter the season.

Whispering Pines - Curran, Ontario

(293)
17km from Plaisance National Park · 30 sites · Tents · ON
'Whispering Pines' was bought about 35 years ago as our dream retirement home, a place to rest, have a quiet life, enjoy nature and have a peaceful retirement for ever and ever...In past years we have been a family camp. and an event camp with camping festivals, special events, and day visits. Now we welcome visitors who are looking for a casual, rustic, laid back experience with nature in a simple, peaceful setting. Nature is allowed to thrive on our property, and the entire property is forested and wild. The majority of our campsites are shaded under a verdant and lush canopy. Our private beach and small lake welcome you for a swim. All we ask of our visitors is: that whatever you bring in you take home with you, that you leave your campsite and the property the way you found it, and the only thing you take from here are pictures and happy memories. All of our campsites are off-grid, un-serviced, drive-in camping. Campfire wood and recycling facilities are available on site. Maintained outhouses are available throughout the property. There is no potable water on the property so please bring your own drinking and cooking water. Children under 12 can camp for free. When booking a campsite please only include any guests over 12 years of age in your guest count. Children under 12 do not need to be included in your booking. Contact us to inquire about large group and event rates. We host LARPing weekends twice a month. We also have a limited number of seasonal sites available from June to September. I love this property and all the people who visit us, many have become extended family and for this I am grateful. There is nothing nicer than to have people drop by and spend a couple of hours, a day or a weekend, sometime when I get real lucky it's for a longer period of time :-)

4-Season Cliffside Camp

100%
(15)
66km from Plaisance National Park · 1 site · Lodging · Denholm, QC
❄️ Cliffside Cabin at The Off Grid Ark — Cozy Winter Getaway in Western Quebec If you’ve ever dreamed of waking up to a quiet, snow-covered forest — this is your spot. Perched on a west-facing cliff at The Off Grid Ark, our rustic shelter is now fully winter-ready. A whisper-quiet diesel heater, mounted safely outside, keeps the cabin toasty warm all night while you sleep surrounded by nature. Outside, a propane deck heater makes it easy to enjoy coffee or dinner under the stars. We’ve also added a Cuisinart tabletop propane BBQ, which cooks faster and cleaner than the old jet grill — perfect for winter gloves and quick meals. We have snowshoes for rent and 10 km of groomed snowshoe trails winding through maple forest, ridges, and lakeshores — the same trails used for Canada’s longest-running snowshoe and trail race series, The Mad Trapper. I’m also hoping to cut a new backcountry ski loop this winter at the top of the escarpment for adventurous guests. The shelter includes a queen bed with fresh linens and a down duvet, plus space for tents around the firepit if you’d like a group setup. Kids and pets stay free, just leave it like you found it. The covered deck has handcrafted rocking chairs for lingering over sunsets, while your private fire area sits just below — perfect for roasting marshmallows or watching the stars. Hammocks are tucked into quiet corners for lazy afternoons or stargazing at night. We’re also building a new bunkhouse nearby for families and groups — another step toward making The Ark a year-round destination for outdoor education and adventure. There’s no electricity or running water, but you’ll have remote-control and desktop LED lights, a Jackery battery bank to keep devices charged, and a Bluetooth speaker for music or podcasts. A cooler, lanterns, jugs of clean well water, and a clean outhouse are provided. Wildlife is plentiful — deer, foxes, loons, and the occasional wolf howl in the distance. I’ll haul your gear by ATV, so bring what you need and settle in. Come unplug, warm up, and experience the stillness of winter at The Off Grid Ark — where comfort meets true off-grid adventure.

The best camping in Plaisance National Park, QC guide

Overview

About

The word “Plaisance”' means pleasure, and that’s exactly what you’ll find at Plaisance National Park (Parc national de Plaisance) in Quebec. This genteel provincial park, 90 miles (145 kilometres) from Montreal and 50 miles (80 kilometres) from Ottawa, offers a supervised swimming pool, canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddle boarding, plus hiking, cycling, and fishing. Visitors should keep their eyes on the skies—the park is part of a major migratory route and nearly 250 different birds have been spotted. Parc national de Plaisance has more than 100 sites for tents and RVs.

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for families: The Shores Campground has ready-to-camp units with two rooms, plus small refrigerators, heating, and a stove.
  • Best for RVs and campervans: Fer-à-Cheval is set apart from the rest of the park and tent-free.
  • Best for classic park views: La Baie Campground has many sites with water views and shade from mature trees.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. A two-night booking rule typically applies for Friday or Saturday visits. However, you can get around this requirement—reservations open up for one-night weekend stays 72 hours before arrival, a great option for last-minute campers.
  2. If you have more than six people in your party but don’t want to book a group campsite,  call the campground directly to inquire about exceptions for large families with multiple kids.
  3. Cyclists don’t have to worry much about reservations. Parc national de Plaisance has partnered with Vélo Québec to set up exclusive Bienvenue Cyclistes camping sites that don’t require advanced reservations.

When to go

The park is open year-round. However, the Discovery and Visitors Center (which hosts the reception desk, nature boutique, exhibitions, and equipment rentals) is only open from early June to mid-October. The area is busiest from late June to early September. Visitors should book well in advance to get reservations for Canada Day weekend and Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day (celebrated across Quebec on June 24).

Know before you go

  • The park’s star attraction is La Zizanie-des-Marais, a floating walkway highlighting plant and animal life along the marsh. Rebuilt after serious flooding in 2017, it’s now wheelchair accessible.
  • The park offers a comprehensive guided discovery program, which includes rabaska canoe rides led by a park naturalist.
  • The park has 16 miles (26 kilometres) of biking trails. Bike rentals are available on-site and they’re free for kids.
  • Visitors looking for groceries, gas, and restaurants can find all the basics just outside the park gates. A little bit further down the road, Papineauville and Montebello have more extensive services and amenities, including hotels and sporting goods stores.
