Please note you must have your own trailer or tent. We’re a 5-10 minute drive to Rathtrevor beach/Parksville, Englishman River. We are right in the middle of an extensive trail network perfect for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding.  Both sites have plenty of space for RVs and trailers - we can accommodate vehicles up to 45ft in length. 30 amp Electrical and potable water hookups are available on both sites. WI-FI onsite as well. There is a flush toilet and sink available in our farm store that is available for guest use. No shower yet, but we are working on it! The property is private yet close to all amenities. Local favorite Rocking Horse Pub is a quick walk next door and a must-stop for dinner and drinks!  Centrally located on Vancouver Island, it’s a perfect spot to set up the rig and day trip out to Rathtrevor, Little Qualicum, Parksville, Coombs, Port Alberni valley and Nanaimo, or go for an overnighter in Victoria, Tofino, Mount Washington and the Comox Valley. Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban and we have dry firewood for sale onsite. If you would like firewood send us a message before you arrive. Pets are welcome, but please be responsible for them. There is a large open grass field for you to let them run and burn off that energy. PLEASE NOTE that this is a campsite and the trailers in the photos are not for rent.

Weekend Trip to Little Cedar’s Hideaway

Location: just off BC Hwy 4 near 4-4A intersection and Old Country Market (Goats on the Roof). Nothing fancy, just level, gravel pads with full hookups. (Water spigot is heated.) Could use as a staging point for day trips. No other campers on night we were there. Quiet; no shade, no privacy. To clarify, sites listed as 30 amp or 50 amp are those amperage’s only, no other sockets. Yes, I would stay here again as a backup to a park campground or when I need to empty tanks.

Weekend Trip to Little Cedar’s Hideaway

Easy to find and spacious sites. Really appreciated the access to laundry - wasn’t expecting that! I only stayed a night but it was a good place between pacific rim and Nanaimo. It’s close to a great coffee place just a couple minute drive away. There was a little dog that was loose on the property for a moment, it seemed nice/shy. I was getting ready to leave and didn’t have my dogs with me at that moment so not sure how it would have responded to them. Didn’t do much exploring because it was a stopover for me but it seems close to hikes, water etc. There’s also a Thai restaurant nearby but I didn’t try it. It was a great place to stay the night and do laundry!

Welcome note at the front building when we arrived. Brand new campsite, so everything is fresh and clean, but the property is still a work in progress. Nice green grass space next to gravel pad with a picnic table. Washroom was clean and it's nice to have a warm shower. Only 1 washroom available currently. We were happy to find this campground as we booked last second.

Spacious sites & like that they are terraced. Rare not to have a huge lists of rules; we appreciated that. The proximity to Rathtrevor Provincial Park, Englishman River Falls & the Old Country Mart in Coombs was nice. Sites could use some privacy between them and some visual separation from host’s property would be great as there’s a bit of an industrial vibe there. Overall, a good stay.

This was the perfect day and if it wasn’t full, we would’ve requested to stay longer. The river spot is absolutely gorgeous while we don’t have kids. It was clearly a great spot for kids to run around. It was the perfect distance from downtown Nanaimo were you still felt like you were sheltered and in the wild, but could get out to whatever you wanted quickly. The camp post was awesome! Showers and bathroom said they were in construction but worked relatively well with a one Looney cost for shower for six minutes if we weren’t all the way from Texas we would definitely stay here again.

The site is in the front of the property and is a great stop for the night. We arrived late and Paul came out to help me set up and plug in. The next day him and his wife showed my son their chickens and bunny and he loved it! Super nice people. I’d definitely camp here again.

A fire pit and firewood are provided. What a great perk!

Walter made really nice RV-sites with everything complete. We could even do laundry, for free. We didn’t expected that. But came in really handy. Kristy helped us out big time with showing how it all worked (first time in Canada/America). That was super awesome. They both had great knowledge about the area and what to do. Good recommendations, for lakes/ hikes and more. They were super friendly, helpful and willing to make it our best stay. And they did! Can recommend staying here, 5 stars!

This was our first Hipcamp experience and were surprised to arrive at a large commercial campsite instead of a small, quiet location. The campground is great and seems well run. Small store, large bathrooms with showers, big sites but not too private. Very family friendly. Though we were expecting something completed different from our first Hipcamp experience we had a wonderful time at Mountainaire Campground. And I'll pay more attention when I book the next time. 🙂

14 nights at Little Cedar’s Hideaway

This is a hidden gem. We set up our base camp here and spent 2 weeks exploring Vancouver Island. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home. Walter (Jim) and Kristi were outstanding hosts. Very accommodating and very responsive. There are currently only 4 sites - all have full hookups. We made friends with everyone immediately and enjoyed our time back at the campsite as much as exploring the island. In the evenings we gathered and did craft projects with anyone who wanted to join us. Lots of things to do around the area and easy accessibility to routes around the island. Definitely recommend and will definitely return.
