Decourcy Meadows is a peaceful forested site within a short walking distance to a safe local swimming beach.
We are an RV-only campsite. The site is level and can accommodate vehicles up to 40ft in length. Electrical, sewage, and potable water hookups included.
Amenities include a picnic table, wifi and a fire ring and some fire wood supplied at no cost. If there is a campfire ban in effect we will provide a propane campfire.
The property is about half natural forest and so it's not unusual to see local critters, large and small peeking out!
There are several hiking trails in the area and local parks as well. There are 3 artisans on Decourcy Drive. The world-famous Crow and Gate pub is 4 km from here and the historic Wheat Sheaf Hotel (Pub) is about 5 km. Local restaurants and Cafes, Groceries, Pharmacy are 5 km.
We are a quiet country getaway located 25 minutes from Nanaimo Departure Bay Ferry Terminal. Duke Point Terminal is about 20 minutes.
Picturesque town of Ladysmith is about 25 minutes south and the very Unique town of Chemainus is 35 minutes and very worth seeing.

We have a 7 acre developing hobby farm currently with fruit trees, a garden, a king shepherd named Jack and a cat named Lulu. You may see some of our neighbour's ducks walking around and hear their rooster in the morning.
Please note; our driveway is an uphill, switchback driveway so long trailers are not a fit for our location. Front wheel or 4 wheel is a plus but typically all vehicles can make it up our driveway.
We have 2 swimming holes near and backing our property. At the back of the property is Hayward Lake/Hairsine Creek which is great for swimming. Inflatable paddle boards are the way to go if you wish to paddle board in the lake since it would be difficult portaging a rigid paddle board down the Crown Land trail. On the front is the Stave River Runoff. This has trails and is ideal if you have smaller children as the water is a bit warmer and has shallow areas.
There are hiking trails in the area and a beach area a short drive from the sites.

Recently we decided to share our property that we love and have enjoyed so much for two reasons: to give others the opportunity to enjoy it and to put money away for university. Our parents, Mark and Sarah, got behind the vision and are excited to be part of this project with us.
We would describe our property as: home…and a really fun place to grow up! Our parents thought that wasn’t descriptive enough for Hipcamp so they’ve helped us describe it more.
We live in a quiet neighbourhood in a forest that has been a source of peace, relaxation, and fun for us in our growing up years. We’ve noticed that people who visit here say they feel the same way.
With plenty of space for kids to explore and adults to relax, our 3 acre forest is perfect for down time with a book in the hammock or a nature walk before dinner.
Amenities and service:
A single, tidy campsite with picnic table surrounded by mature and gently manicured forest, as well as a hammock, and a new construction outhouse. (Go dad!)
We love hospitality, so though we won’t always be around when you’re here, if we are and you need something you can simply ask and we’ll do our best to provide what you need.
To help you feel welcome we provide a fresh, cool jug of drinking water and large container of fresh potable water as well as access to an outside tap to fill water containers if needed (upon request) , power to charge devices (upon request), and a campfire ring with firewood (sorry about the frequent fire bans. Huge bummer. We will post current fire ban status while you’re here.)

Fun fact! It’s a 10-minute bike ride from our house to the Cowichan Valley Bike Trail.

Half of the property is beautifully forested with majestic fir and cedar trees, while the rest features thriving vegetable gardens, fruit orchards, and our friendly ducks. We’ve long hosted adventurous bikepackers on their journeys and now warmly welcome hikers, bicycle tourists, motorcycle travelers, and car campers alike.
We have two walk-in from your vehicle (1-3 minute walk) tenting-only campsites tucked privately into the forest, with each site comfortably accommodating up to four people. Licorice Fern is a little more private and deeper in the forest, but a bit noisier during the daytime as it is closer to the road (but very quiet at night as there is no traffic). Cottontail is more sunny (especially in the morning), quieter, and closer to toilet/shower.
We also have our new Pacific Dogwood site that is for pickups with slide-in campers, truck toppers, vehicles with rooftop tents, and cargo vans available should you have your own sleeping setup.
Each site is a short stroll away from the dishwashing and meal-prep station with a sink, kettle, flush toilet, and a hot rainwater shower. Fresh, high-quality drinking water is available at the washing sink along with electrical outlets for charging phones and e-bikes. Well water is available either at or nearby each site for washing and cooking. There are also a couple of hammocks in the forest to relax in during your stay.

Wild Coast has 2 nightly campsites for you to enjoy. Site one is a large, flat open gravel base. And Site 2 is a large, flat grass based site. Please note you must have your own trailer or tent.
We’re a 5-10 minute drive to Rathtrevor beach/Parksville, Englishman River. We are right in the middle of an extensive trail network perfect for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding.
Both sites have plenty of space for RVs and trailers - we can accommodate vehicles up to 45ft in length. 30 amp Electrical and potable water hookups are available on both sites. WI-FI onsite as well. There is a flush toilet and sink available in our farm store that is available for guest use. No shower yet, but we are working on it!
The property is private yet close to all amenities. Local favorite Rocking Horse Pub is a quick walk next door and a must-stop for dinner and drinks!
Centrally located on Vancouver Island, it’s a perfect spot to set up the rig and day trip out to Rathtrevor, Little Qualicum, Parksville, Coombs, Port Alberni valley and Nanaimo, or go for an overnighter in Victoria, Tofino, Mount Washington and the Comox Valley.
Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban and we have dry firewood for sale onsite. If you would like firewood send us a message before you arrive.
Pets are welcome, but please be responsible for them. There is a large open grass field for you to let them run and burn off that energy.

Jody’s property was very convenient, right down the street from a beautiful park but it felt private. It’s close to a secondary road but noise was no issue. Would stay again!

Paul's place is great! We took the short walk down to the beach and what we found was an amazingly beautiful slice of paradise. Could not believe how clear the water was. The site was super easy to access and it was mostly level. He offered electrical hook ups and water. We will definately stay here again. Thanks Paul!

We had a wonderful 8 night stay at DeCourcy Meadows. Even though the owner’s home is close by, the camp site is private and quiet; perfect for a base camp to explore although you should allow time to visit the local neighborhood beach and have at least one meal at the nearby Crow & Gate Pub. Rod is a respectful, gracious and all around awesome Hipcamp host. After setting up, camp walk down the driveway and go right, then take a right on Pylades - a magical beach with a public access trail will be to your left (small parking lot, portable toilet).

Paul's spot was perfect for our quick overnight stay. We arrived in the evening and headed out early the next morning, but we were fortunate to meet Paul. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We loved walking down to the nearby beach that evening and again the next morning before heading home.

Jim’s pace was our first HipCamp experience. It was amazing! His space has only a few options and so it’s so quiet and peaceful. AND, it’s the best most convenient spot close to everything!
Jim was the best part of our experience. He is so kind and funny and so knowledgeable about the area. He was able to give some great tips. In our opinion, he went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable.
The full service access, proper/potable water, electricity, et. Was exceptional! He has been working to make his property a place to look forward to coming to.

Rod's RV site is great. Very quiet, power and water and sewer, and some nice places to explore nearby. It is less than pa km walk to Pylades park with views to DeCourcy island. Bike or drive to Cable Bay parking lot; the 5 km walk to Cable Bay and along the coast to Joan's Point is really nice. The Crow and Gate pub has a lovely outdoor eating area, and good food.

Really worth a visit
This place should be so much more aknowledged. We visited it by accident, but it's really nice, so interesting and the staff is very friendly and talkative. We learned a lot!
