With 80 acres of The Land Between- the ecotone where the Great Canadian Shield meets the St. Lawrence Lowlands- it's easy to live well. Kilometres of trails criss-crossing the property, minutes' drive to larger networks of cross-country ski trails and lakes for big and small boating, swimming and fishing or getting the necessities at the local family-owned grocery store, or hardware store mean you really don't have to go far to get big and small adventures in every day. We have a number of canoes, paddles, PFDs and safety kits, along with all the camping equipment you'd need for day adventures or backcountry canoe camping trips available at an additional coompetitive rate. Silent Lake is a beautiful provincial park 15 minutes' drive to the north with more cross country ski trails, a front-country zero motor boat lake (hence the name). There are walk-in and car-camping sites at Silent Lake. Our property nearly backs into Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park; at nearly 40,000 hectares it's the largest provincial park south of Algonquin. We can give you lots of tips on canoe tripping routes through the park, from easy to difficult, or you can just head into the park for the day, head to Loon Call Lake boat access for a swim & picnic- we strongly recommend the annual Ontario Parks Day Use Permit- totally worth it. Given that North Kawartha Hideaway is located on Highway 28, we are first served in terms of road maintenance in the winter months. Highway 28 has seen some significant roadwork improvements from Peterborough to Apsley over the last 5 years, all wrapped up now, so it’s just a bit slower on the cottage-going weekends.

We are confident you won't want to leave the farm, but in case you choose to explore beyond our 98 acres there is lots to still see and do within only a short drive. We are located close to Buckhorn, where you can explore more lakes, pick your own berries or visit pumpkin patches, pick up groceries or enjoy the restaurants in Buckhorn.  Also, in nearby Bobcaygeon you can find world-class shopping and dining, parks, beaches, festivals, a heritage village, and even more lakes. Welcome to our cabins in the woods, in beautiful Sunderland, Ontario! Our tiny cabins are tucked away in the woods on our gorgeous, private 10-acre property in the heart of North Durham. We offer a unique glamping experience with all the benefits of camping, but with a roof over your head, floor under your feet and super cool amenities. Please read our full listings before requesting a booking. If you’re unsure about something, just ask. We’re very laid back, approachable and inclusive people, and can’t wait to welcome you. We’re surrounded by Beaverton on Lake Simcoe, Port Perry on Lake Scugog and Uxbridge (the Trail Capital of Canada), which are a close driving distance away. Around the corner from us, the Beaver River Wetland Trail (part of the Trans Canada Trail) is the perfect place for a hike or bike ride. There are walk-in and car-camping sites at Silent Lake. Our property nearly backs into Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park; at nearly 40,000 hectares it's the largest provincial park south of Algonquin. We can give you lots of tips on canoe tripping routes through the park, from easy to difficult, or you can just head into the park for the day, head to Loon Call Lake boat access for a swim & picnic- we strongly recommend the annual Ontario Parks Day Use Permit- totally worth it. Given that North Kawartha Hideaway is located on Highway 28, we are first served in terms of road maintenance in the winter months. Highway 28 has seen some significant roadwork improvements from Peterborough to Apsley over the last 5 years, all wrapped up now, so it’s just a bit slower on the cottage-going weekends.

My partner and I loved staying in the dome, our dogs had a blast playing with Max and Ruby too, sweetest pups I ever met. It was amazing sleeping under the stars and the moon. It was like camping but a lot better. Mitch was very attentive and made our stay an 11/10. If you forget something civilization is close by so don’t fret. The pond and the land surrounding the dome is breathtaking. If you want to sleep under the stars surrounded by nature add this trip to your bucket list you will not be disappointed !

Our land is very private and beautifully sheltered by trees all around the campsite. There is an open field as well that also has trees on the outskirts. A video is available upon request! Fenella is a small village about 7 min away that has a large convenience/ grocery/Beer store as well as gas stations and Canabis beyond belief ! Go carts, food trucks and the best Butter Tart Factory as well! Warkworth is a town east of us about 20 min and Cobourg is 20 min South of us. Many shopping experiences available. Primrose Donkey Sanctuary is down the road a few minutes which we highly suggest visiting. Look their hours up before planning a visit! We have easy access up our road about 1 km to the Northumberland Trails where you can ride your horses, cycle, ride your ATVs,walk or jog. We have goats and can provide goat walks on our own trails. Goat walks are about 30 minutes generally and $15 per walk. Our own Free Range eggs are available for $7/doz as well as firewood for $10 per bundle Dogs are welcome as long as they are constantly on a leash, as we have chickens that free range! We ask that you bring your own water and hydro please. We hosted 35-40 endurance horses and their riders in August of 2022! We welcome tents and all trailers!

We are a small hobby farm set within a mature forest setting. There are two, newly built tiny home bunkies that are situated in private areas of our property, yet close enough to our main house for security, Each bunkie has a modern outhouse with composting toilets and non potable water for washing Guests will have the opportunity to commune with nature as we have a multitude of bird species and there is always good possibilities of wildlife viewing, as guests stroll down the nature trails. There are plenty of very cool areas along the trail where guests are able to participate in forest bathing/meditation or can just relax and listen to the wind rustling through the leaves of the trees. We have a couple of very gentle horses on our farm, that if anyone wishes, can schedule a time meet them and do some therapy grooming. There is also a small flock of egg laying hens that are quite social. We have a small on site store, which has some beautiful wood crafts that are created in our woodworking shop. Live-edge wood tables/charcuterie boards and other beautiful pieces as well as a large display of gorgeous healing crystals and metaphysical items are available for purchase if that's your interest. We are less than a 10 minute drive to Bobcaygeon, where you can find the world famous Kawartha Dairy, scrumptious restaurants, specialty clothing boutiques, grocery stores and pharmacies. Sturgeon Lake is the predominate lake with fabulous fishing/boating/ swimming. A 20 minute drive will get you to Fenelon Falls, Buckhorn or Kinmount where you will find the famous Kinmount Movie Theater that have the latest movies available. The Canadian Rail Trail is also nearby for anyone that wants to do some biking/hiking.

Previously used as the hot chocolate shack for our tree farm business which has finished after a 30 year run. The Shack is completely "OFF GRID" and you can get a feel for staying amongst the sounds of nature and possibly find yourself shutting off your phone and really enjoying the quiet peaceful escape. Sitting by a bon-fire at night, with the stars bright in the dark sky. Enjoying a good book or a walk on the property looking out for Wild Turkey's, Coyotes, Raccoons, Ground hogs and a variety of Bird's. Take an evening walk to the top of the hill to catch a beautiful farm sunset over the corn fields. Local businesses nearby are Brooks Farm Playground and Market 2 min up the road. Rose Family Farm with fresh cut fries 4 min away. Musselman's Lake is a 6 min drive to enjoy the fabulous Fishbone on the Lake, casual outdoor dining. In nearby Stouffville find Timber Creek Mini Golf, Gallucci Winery, Willow Springs Winery + Tree top trekking at Bruce's Mill. With many hiking trails in the area including Eldred King Woodlands, Vivian forest Trails, Durham Regional Forest and almost directly across the road and slightly south of our property new York Region Forest walking/hiking trails can be accessed. Nearby restaurants in Ballantrae. In the quaint little town of Mt. Albert 5 min with an LCBO in it open till 8pm daily. Ballantrae Ultramar 6 min away also has an LCBO open till 11 pm daily. Uxbridge is nearby and a large variety of restaurants and shopping Lots to check out in the area, or simply stay put at The Shack and enjoy cooking a meal on the BBQ in the outdoor kitchen area (propane included) and relaxing by the bonfire (wood included). The Shack is equipped with some cooking items, pots + pans, BBQ and utensils, knives, cutlery, plates, coffee cups, bowls, glasses + (wine glasses) cutting board, tray, kettle and a small chest cooler to keep your food and drinks cold (you will need to bring the ice) Dish washing rack is provided, as well as large jugs of clean potable water for cooking/drinking and doing the dishes. With 80 acres of The Land Between- the ecotone where the Great Canadian Shield meets the St. Lawrence Lowlands- it's easy to live well. Kilometres of trails criss-crossing the property, minutes' drive to larger networks of cross-country ski trails and lakes for big and small boating, swimming and fishing or getting the necessities at the local family-owned grocery store, or hardware store mean you really don't have to go far to get big and small adventures in every day. We can all watch the birds- big and small, visit trees and waterfowl migrating with the seasons over the wetland. We have a number of canoes, paddles, PFDs and safety kits, along with all the camping equipment you'd need for day adventures or backcountry canoe camping trips available at an additional coompetitive rate. Silent Lake is a beautiful provincial park 15 minutes' drive to the north with more cross country ski trails, a front-country zero motor boat lake (hence the name). There are walk-in and car-camping sites at Silent Lake. Our property nearly backs into Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park; at nearly 40,000 hectares it's the largest provincial park south of Algonquin. We can give you lots of tips on canoe tripping routes through the park, from easy to difficult, or you can just head into the park for the day, head to Loon Call Lake boat access for a swim & picnic- we strongly recommend the annual Ontario Parks Day Use Permit- totally worth it. Given that North Kawartha Hideaway is located on Highway 28, we are first served in terms of road maintenance in the winter months. Highway 28 has seen some significant roadwork improvements from Peterborough to Apsley over the last 5 years, all wrapped up now, so it’s just a bit slower on the cottage-going weekends.
