Weekend Trip to Treefrog Retreat

Treefrog Retreat was everything we hoped for and more! Just a under 2 hours from Toronto, it was the perfect escape from city life. The traditional Mongolian yurt is tucked away in a stunning forest, with a peaceful stream nearby that made the whole experience feel incredibly tranquil and private. The yurt itself was clean, cozy, and well-equipped with all the amenities we needed. You can really tell care was put into making it comfortable while still keeping that off-the-grid charm. Shelley was a fantastic host—super welcoming, kind, and accommodating. This spot is a hidden gem for anyone looking to unplug, reconnect with nature, and just breathe. We’ll definitely be back and have already been recommending it to friends and family!

I was looking for a space in nature to take time for myself and connect with my soul and I saw Natalie’s listing and my heart said yes. I was so glad I did, I received what I needed and more! My Fiancé & I loved our rainy Saturday night stay at Jack’s Cabin! Malissa & Corey were very helpful - Corey gave us a lift back to the cabin; the rain had made the trail a smidge mucky. They also answered any questions we had very promptly. The cabin was clean, quaint and homey - complete with a wicked selection of DVD’s, board games, puzzles and a few different books to read. If you’re looking for a romantic night away with your loved one, Jack’s is the way to go! We’re sure to return.

This was such a great winter getaway! Malissa and Cory’s cabin was literally perfect for us. Our dogs absolutely loved exploring the trail and woods around the cabin. While it was on the hosts property, we felt like we had our own private, safe space. The cabin itself was cozy and had all the amenities we needed. And if we did need anything, Cory was just a text away to bring us what we needed. We will be coming back for sure. Highly recommend if you love roughing it a bit*

We had a great time at Jack’s cabin! It was the perfect place for a winter getaway with our pups. The property is awesome with a nice little trail loop to walk. Although the cabin is on the hosts property, it is set far back and was very private. The bed was comfortable and we really enjoyed firing up the water of stove and throwing in some nostalgic DVDs at night. Great hosts that were available when needed. We would come back for sure!

Sit by the pond, sit by the creek, sit in the waterfall, sit out at Blueberry Hill for a pleasant breeze or up on SunStar Ridge for some nightly star gazing or lay back in a hammock or on zero gravity chair 1 Bunkie on a hill overlooking the pond and 2 private tent sites, one at Boot Hill and one in the Field of Dreams. Each site has a fire pit and a compostable toilet and there is an outhouse on the property for the bunkie. Great for canoes, kayaks, bird and wildlife watching with spectacular star gazing. This property was part of an old homestead and as such I am still finding things so please respect the caution tape and stay on the marked trails. Some are treasures (European Grapes, Bergamot, French Roses, Asparagus, Rhubarb, Ramps, Fiddle-heads) and others not so much. I am re purposing what I can and collecting the rest for disposal as I nurture this land back to what it was meant to be, paradise. There is an outdoor shower available as well.
