RV camping in Vancouver Island

·

With distant mountain and city views—plus ocean all around—this tiny corner of BC offers unparalleled nature access for RV camping. RVers are spoiled for campsite choice, with plenty of coastal experiences, gentle beaches, and old-growth forests where it's possible to pull up and park for a while. Dozens of BC provincial parks and protected spaces on Vancouver Island offer RV campsites, most of which are open for advance reservations with hookups, dump stations, and full services. Bamberton Provincial Park, not far from Saanich Inlet, is relaxed and peaceful, especially in September when fewer campers visit. At the family-friendly Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park, nearly a kilometre of sandy flats is exposed at low tide, perfect for beach combing and shell collecting. No matter where you park, reservations are strongly advised and are all but essential during peak summer months.

Courtenay, BC · 1 site
Welcome to our half-acre homestead in the beautiful Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. We are conveniently located along the main highway, making our property a great basecamp for exploring everything the Comox Valley has to offer, including walking trails, beaches, rivers, lakes, hiking trails, and Mount Washington Alpine Resort, all within a short drive or bike ride. Many trails and outdoor areas are close by and easy to access from our property. We offer a simple RV parking spot in our driveway, with a view of the ocean, for fully self-contained RVs. Please note there is no sani-dump or bathroom, so your RV must be fully self-contained. This is a simple homestead RV stay rather than a full-service campground. Our property is a small working homestead with a large garden, chickens, rabbits in the back and a seasonal farm stand where we sell herbal teas, artisan jams and jellies, and farm-fresh goods grown and made right here on the property. Guests are welcome to walk through the garden, visit the animals, and shop at the farm stand upon request and accompanied by property owner. If you are looking for a convenient location to break up a long journey or while exploring the Comox Valley and enjoy a casual setting, this is a great spot to park and stay for a few nights. In addition to the RV stay, we also host Wild Edible Plant Walks, garden tours, and seasonal herbal workshops on the property and around the Comox Valley. These are separate bookable experiences that Hipcamp guests are welcome to join if dates align with their stay. Please inquire when booking if you are interested in adding a plant walk or workshop to your visit. The Comox Valley is made up of the City of Courtenay, the Town of Comox, the Village of Cumberland, and the surrounding communities of Royston, Union Bay, Fanny Bay, Black Creek, Merville, Denman Island, and Hornby Island. The Courtenay Riverway Heritage Walk is right across the road and runs along the ocean, through forested areas, around the Courtenay Airpark, and along the Courtenay River, connecting all the way to our downtown core. From our farm stand to Simms Park is just over a one-hour walk or about a 20-minute bike ride. We look forward to sharing our small homestead and the beautiful Comox Valley with you.

Hi! We’re your hosts, Seth, Jodie, and Megan Williams. Recently we decided to share our property that we love and have enjoyed so much for two reasons: to give others the opportunity to enjoy it and to put money away for university. Our parents, Mark and Sarah, got behind the vision and are excited to be part of this project with us. We would describe our property as: home…and a really fun place to grow up! Our parents thought that wasn’t descriptive enough for Hipcamp so they’ve helped us describe it more. We live in a quiet neighbourhood in a forest that has been a source of peace, relaxation, and fun for us in our growing up years. We’ve noticed that people who visit here say they feel the same way. With plenty of space for kids to explore and adults to relax, our 3 acre forest is perfect for down time with a book in the hammock or a nature walk before dinner. Amenities and service: A single, tidy campsite with picnic table surrounded by mature and gently manicured forest, as well as a hammock, and a new construction outhouse. (Go dad!) We love hospitality, so though we won’t always be around when you’re here, if we are and you need something you can simply ask and we’ll do our best to provide what you need. To help you feel welcome we provide a fresh, cool jug of drinking water and large container of fresh potable water as well as access to an outside tap to fill water containers if needed (upon request) , power to charge devices (upon request), and a campfire ring with firewood (sorry about the frequent fire bans. Huge bummer. We will post current fire ban status while you’re here.) Surroundings and local attractions: Our property is situated in a low traffic rural residential area within ¬ 3 km to Sandy Pool Regional Park (5 min) A family favourite! ¬ 10 km to the Cowichan Valley Museum (Duncan Totem Tour) (13 min) ¬ 14 km to the Pacific Northwest Raptor Center (15 min) ¬ 19 km to the Hand of Man Museum (20 min) ¬ 20 km to Lake Cowichan (16 min) for swimming, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc Note: Lake Cowichan is also home to ‘The Tube Shack’ where you can rent tubes to float down the Cowichan River and catch the Tube Shack Bus back to your car. We do it every summer! Fun fact! It’s a 10-minute bike ride from our house to the Cowichan Valley Bike Trail. *(All destinations calculated from our dining table by Google maps) There are multiple well known hikes within 20 minutes (we suggest googling Stoney Hill Trail, Mt Tzouhalem, and Mt. Prevost.)
