Our private Campground is centrally located on the Olympic Peninsula.
We are a Campground, we are not a Hip Camp, we just advertise through them. Paying for extra days or rentals, wood, propane fire-pits, are done at pay station at Campground or by calling the office.
We have 21 tent sites on the West side of Pavel Road close to the river. 13 are river view sites. We have 15 tent sites and most are bigger tent sites, ones that are big enough for a RV on the East side of Pavel Road, Use our website dawleysrivercamping.com for details.
We have beautiful woods with trees, ferns, moss, and the Sol Duc River runs adjacent to our property. Beautiful views of the Sol Duc River from some of the sites and a short walk to the right of the parking lot to the Fish Hatchery, stay to the right there will be a boat launch and beach to fish and play.
Just a 20-minute drive to the Pacific Ocean and a 20-minute drive to the straits of Juan de Fuca.
Just a one-hour drive from our site to Cape Flattery, short hike down to a rocky viewpoint overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Tatoosh Island, which is the farthest NW Point in the Continental US!
We have sites with beautiful river views, 9 walk-in sites, and 12 drive-up sites. 4 of the walk-in sites are river views 4, 5, 6 and 8. The drive-in sites with river views are 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 20, and 21.
There are more sites on the other part of the Campground.
The Fish Hatchery is right next door and has a boat launch, beach, and lots of fishing.
The river at the Hatchery is great to float on, fish, and just play.

There is an electric hookup for an RV, water is available, and a gravel strip beside the RV parking spot provides space to set up portable camping equipment. A large open area is also adjacent to the campsite.
Dogs are welcome, but please note the backyard is not fenced. With rabbits and other small wildlife in the area, dogs must remain on a lead or under control at all times.

Come enjoy the serenity of The Rustic Retreat. Located on 50+ private wooded acres, over a mile off the highway our tent sites will give you the peace and quiet you are looking for. The night sky is clear and perfect for star gazing. This place truly is a piece of heaven. As of right now we have large and small tent sites. There are ponds to look at and eventually they will be stocked with fish. The campsites are not completely flat and may have a few small holes so please be careful and watch your step. A lot of this property has been left natural for years and we are trying to keep it as natural as possible. We do suggest sleeping on an air mattress or camping pad for your comfort. We are just starting out so this place will get better and better as time goes on.
We at The Rustic Retreat value your privacy and we try not to interact with campers unless you request.
The Peninsula Northwest has some amazing activities including hiking, biking, fishing, crabbing, shrimping, whale watching, beach combing, Kayaking, and so much more. The Rustic Retreat is about 20 minutes from downtown Port Angeles and the Victoria Ferry and about 30 minutes from Lake Crescent. It is the perfect place to stay in between everything.
There is a communal firepit can be used by all campers until the Clallam County burn ban comes into affect. During the burn ban, the firepit will be closed off.
We also have walking trails, more lighting and parking. We have not been able to get fish in the ponds yet, however some wild ducks stop by now and again to say hi. The hiking trail head is down the dirt road, west of the porta potty, it is roughly 316 yards to the trail head. Walking and biking is allowed. Trail is very natural so it is uneven, please be careful.
2026 Update: The property The Rustic Retreat Campground in on, is for sale. If the property gets sold we will ask to close after September. If you are interested in more information about the sale, just ask.

Looking for camping near Victoria, BC? Our peaceful 1.5-acre property on the Saanich Peninsula offers the perfect escape just 20 minutes from the city. Enjoy a scenic stay only a 3-minute walk from the world-famous Butchart Gardens and steps away from the trails of Tod Inlet. Experience the best of Vancouver Island’s natural beauty with the convenience of being close to town.
Half of the property is beautifully forested with majestic fir and cedar trees, while the rest features thriving vegetable gardens, fruit orchards, and our friendly ducks. We’ve long hosted adventurous bikepackers on their journeys and now warmly welcome hikers, bicycle tourists, motorcycle travelers, and car campers alike.
We have two tenting-only campsites tucked privately into the forest, with each site comfortably accommodating up to four people. Licorice Fern is a little more private and deeper in the forest, but a bit noisier during the daytime as it is closer to the road (but very quiet at night as there is no traffic). Cottontail is more sunny (especially in the morning), quieter, and closer to toilet/shower.
We also have our new Pacific Dogwood site that is for pickups with slide-in campers, truck toppers, vehicles with rooftop tents, and cargo vans available should you have your own sleeping setup.
Each site is a short stroll away from the dishwashing and meal-prep station with a sink, kettle, flush toilet, and a hot rainwater shower. Fresh, high-quality drinking water is available at the washing sink along with electrical outlets for charging phones and e-bikes. Well water is available either at or nearby each site for washing and cooking. There are also a couple of hammocks in the forest to relax in during your stay.

Wild Coast has 2 nightly campsites for you to enjoy. Site one is a large, flat open gravel base. And Site 2 is a large, flat grass based site. Please note you must have your own trailer or tent.
We’re a 5-10 minute drive to Rathtrevor beach/Parksville, Englishman River. We are right in the middle of an extensive trail network perfect for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding.
Both sites have plenty of space for RVs and trailers - we can accommodate vehicles up to 45ft in length. 30 amp Electrical and potable water hookups are available on both sites. WI-FI onsite as well. There is a flush toilet and sink available in our farm store that is available for guest use. No shower yet, but we are working on it!
The property is private yet close to all amenities. Local favorite Rocking Horse Pub is a quick walk next door and a must-stop for dinner and drinks!
Centrally located on Vancouver Island, it’s a perfect spot to set up the rig and day trip out to Rathtrevor, Little Qualicum, Parksville, Coombs, Port Alberni valley and Nanaimo, or go for an overnighter in Victoria, Tofino, Mount Washington and the Comox Valley.
Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban and we have dry firewood for sale onsite. If you would like firewood send us a message before you arrive.
Pets are welcome, but please be responsible for them. There is a large open grass field for you to let them run and burn off that energy.

Just outside of Port Angeles, and nestled right on the Strait of Juan De Fuca is Whiskey Creek Beach NW. This is a family owned and operated property, with northwest history and a rustic setting that will take any guest back to a simpler time.
Now owned by the Pinson Family, this land was originally purchased by the Schmitt Family nearly a century ago in the small town of Joyce, Washington, back when fishing was the only draw to this beautiful landscape. There is access to a private boat ramp, seaside privacy, and it is surrounded by beautiful trees.
Hand built rustic cabins line the coastline. Each has it's own unique name. Folks have been escaping to Whiskey Creek Beach for generations as a way to unplug from the hustle and bustle of todays busy lifestyle. With names like "Halibut Hole," "Codfish Cottage," and "Captain's Quarters," the charm is undeniable. The waves crashing over a pebble beach lull you to sleep, and the salt in the air wakes you in the morning. A private boat launch is very difficult to find anywhere on the sound. The boat launch at Whiskey Creek Beach is the only one between Fresh Water Bay and Sekiu.
Whiskey Creek Beach is a place you really must experience it in person. In a busy world, full of demands and obligations, it is rare to find a place so close that feels so far away. This truly is PNW living at it's finest.

There was apartments nearby but the way we angled the trailer helped. We parked across from the spot where the fire pit was as it seemed parking there would block the tent sites entrance. Nice level spot though and the firepit was nice to have. Potable water in gallon jugs but there was a spigot on site that would be cool if it was turned on when campers are there. Great site for the price though.

The camping spot was spotless. And unlike almost any other campground, public or private, it was LEVEL AND ON A CONCRETE SLAB!!! We didn’t need the power or water but it was all there. Salt Spring Island is a beautiful place!

It was a great place to stay with the camper, easy to set up, plug in, and go exploring. The private beach across the street was also very nice to go to and looked great for surfing. Hearing the crashing waves at night was super relaxing. Also the check in was easy and the owners were incredibly nice. Definitely want to go again and would recommend it

Beautiful spot right on the beach! The RV1 spot was perfect for my camper van and we loved going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean. Loved learning about the local Native American culture of the region. Be sure to check out Calvin’s Crab Shack as well. Cape Flattery was stunning as well. Highly recommend. Thank you!

Travelled with a pet and to the left of Jim’s property you can walk up to a cul-de-sac for quick morning and night walks. Jim was very hospitable and informative on island activities Common area above overlooks ferries coming and going and Mt Baker very cool 👍

The campground is nice and quiet, not busy (upper half of park is all residents living full time). We have a 37’ fifth wheel, and it is tricky to pull in and out due to the steep hills, and campsite not being level. But once you’re in, it’s great. We stayed at site #2 and it was spacious and beautiful, we stayed for 7 days. Camp owners are friendly, store is great and convenient with delicious ice cream, and there’s so much to do nearby to the rv park. No wifi and limited cell reception.

My best friend and I visited Salt Spring Island for the first time from Puyallup, WA with my small elderly pup for a long weekend and Jim’s place was the most PERFECT location and set up! We’re obsessed with the island and can’t wait to come back! I was able to charge my Tesla quickly with the electric setup, and it was an added plus with the outdoor fridge to keep our things cold. There’s a clean porta potty and a water spicket to wash hands and dishes. Having the option for a hot shower for a small extra charge was a huge relief after a day spent hiking and biking! Jim
is so friendly and laid back, we felt comfortable knowing he was only a text away if we needed anything. He gave us the best map to help us navigate cool spots to check out on the island. We woke up to deer, rabbits and the sound of birds each day, it was so lovely. Definitely make sure you eat dinner on Jim’s balcony at least once - it’s so pretty watching the sun set over Mt. Baker. It was trip we will never forget 💕 We will definitely be back!!!!

Campground information did not say there was full hookups or you had to maneuver a steep hill to park your camper. Although sceptic was too far back in spot to use since there was a picnic table at the end of the spot and I signed a form saying I would not move the picnic table. Was surprised by the wonderful laundry on site
Allot of long term visitors—was surprised not to see more travelers as it was such a nice facility with a well stocked country store and friendly staff. Never did ever meet Staci!

We did a 4 night travel trailer stay in the RV1 site and were very happy. The RV2 site sits a few feet higher and offers better water view opportunities. The host is reasonably flexible on the positioning of your rig. The site had 50A electric and potable water hookups, but none for sewer. As of this review there is a pay-to-use dump station available nearby at Mason's Resort is Sekiu, WA.
The level and walkable waterfront sandy beach is just steps away from the campground and offers great views of the Strait, Vancouver Island, BC., etc.
We'll definitely go again!

If you're seeking a peaceful and secure place to spend a few nights, I would highly recommend at this location. Jay is a lovely and personable host. Her back yard makes one feel calm, as in nature. You get to enjoy the morning sunshine and the trees give just the right amount of shade in the afternoon & evening.
As noted in Jay's instructions, you may find it easier to drive in, rather than back in, and then use the adequate space in her back yard to reposition your rig onto the grave pad provided. (I definetly found this to be the case with my camperized extended GMC Savana as I currently don't have a backup camera.)
The next time I come to Nanaimo, this location will be my first choice!
