The best vintage trailers in British Columbia

·

It’s hard to describe British Columbia as anything other than wildly breathtaking—quite literally when you swim in one of the province’s many turquoise glacier lakes, ride a wave, or catch a glimpse of a bear in the forest. For camping experiences and road trips, BC offers privately operated campgrounds and RV parks; a major network of parks with reservable and first-come, first-served tent camping sites; yurts and cabins; and thousands of recreation sites and trails on beaches, lakes, mountains, and meadows. Thanks to the mild climate and some winter huts, camping is possible year-round.

The Pacific Ocean runs along the length of BC, offering plenty of oceanside spots to explore. On Vancouver Island, Tofino and Pacific Rim National Park are famous for cold-water surfing, whale watching, and hot springs, while nearby Ucluelet is a fisher’s paradise. Further inland, campers can find riverside camping in Squamish; backcountry huts around the resort town of Whistler; and reservable tent pads overlooking the jewel-toned Joffre Lake. For a true off-the-grid experience, head to Haida Gwaii's Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve—set about 100 kilometres off the northern British Columbia coast, this area is only reachable by sea or air.

The northern part of the province is all raw, rugged beauty, with unique culture and untouched natural beauty. Soak in Canada’s second-largest hot spring in Fort Nelson, watch salmon spawning in the many rivers, and peek at bears catching some themselves at Kleanza Creek Provincial Park in Terrace. Options for outdoor stays include vast wilderness resorts, remote cabins, and private beach, lakefront, or rainforest campsites—but note that cell service and WiFi are rare in these parts. Bonus: Given its far north location, it’s relatively easy to snag last-minute campsites that still offer peace and quiet.

With a blend of history, wildlife, adventure, and expansive grasslands, the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast is true Canadian countryside. Campers come to this wild western spot to spend time in the Great Bear Rainforest and at alpine rivers (whitewater rafting is big here), but travelers usually also visit lakeside fishing lodges and historic Gold Rush towns such as Barkerville. Tweedsmuir Provincial Park is a prime spot for the chance to spot a grizzly bear.

Set in the province’s southeastern corner and part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks World Heritage Site, the Kootenays are home to four national parks: Glacier, Kootenay, Mount Revelstoke, and Yoho. Here you’ll find unrivaled wildlife—think black bears, mountain goats, and elk—much of which can be spotted even from the highway. Throughout the region are glaciers, peaks, waterfalls, and quirky little towns such as Golden, Cranbrook, and Kimberley, the highest in Canada at 1,113 meters up. Camping and tenting is typically open between May and September, with limited winter options.

💚💜Enjoy the simple wild private campsites with gravel pad's and picnic tables, on the edge of a creek ravine with second growth forest, and the regeneration of the younger forest around you. A big beautiful pond hosts lots of wildlife and you will hear our ducks and chickens making their happy noises on the wind. And for your information—This year we have a quiet long term camper at the end of the road. There are large berms full of greenery between each site for privacy. Sheringham light house and Shirley Delicious Cafe are within walking or biking distance and The Stoked wood fire pizza is also just down the road beside French beach. You have the opportunity to visit DREAM THREADS studio on site and shop for unique and natural clothing and kimonos made by Navit. 3 sites: cabin, yurt, trailer. Welcome to 28 acres of forests, mountains, creeks, a river and all that comes with it! We live in a little off-grid cabin deep in the Yalakom Valley in a small community of rustic-living and friendly folks. Please note that this property is located 40 km outside of Lillooet. Part of the road is a dirt road and a bit bumpy, best for cars that don't mind roughing it a little bit, and best for people who don't fear cliffs. You also lose service 5 minutes outside of Lillooet. The property is surrounded by one other large private lot on one side and some steep crown land on the other. You can explore our lot down to the river or you can drive to other locations like the Horseshoe (a great swim spot), Carpenter Lake (great for swimming, too), Lac La Mere (good for fishing), Carol Lake, and much more. All sites are located 150-200 feet away from our main house and share the same outhouse. However, it is unlikely for us to have more than one site booked the same time, so there is ample privacy. This is a somewhat rustic and rugged spot- if you are looking for fancy glamping this is not the space for you! Vancouverites, you've been warned!

Welcome to Flyway Farm and Forest. We are five acres of farm, forests, and gardens, with our front yard facing out on the Columbia River, in the heart of the Pacific Flyway. It is one of the largest migratory bird routes in North America, and a crucial corridor to migratory birds, waterfowl, and shorebirds, extending from Alaska to Patagonia. Whether your goal is to connect with the Earth or with people, the Flyway Farm and Forest is the place for you. Located in tiny Spillimacheen BC, this hidden gem will enhance any experience. It has a lot to offer the independent traveller, including beautiful views, hiking, rock-climbing, fishing, mountaineering, and paddling. Ideal for those looking for a base camp for further adventures, or just a quiet get-away off the beaten path. Flyway Forest: '79 Vintage Komfort RV, '63 Esta Villa RV, both with electrical service, and a bare campsite between them. Great view of the backside of the Rockies Flyway Pasture: For small groups looking for a place to pitch their tent, several places are available behind the orchard or in the north forest by special arrangement Flyway Farmhouse: For those looking for indoor plumbing and a place to recharge their phone, we have three rooms available upstairs in the main house (two queen beds and a single). Since we last opened, the goats and chickens have been re-homed. This was necessary during our two-year absence. But no fear, there's lots to do and see if you're the self-motivated adventurer type(s). Bathroom and kitchen facilities are shared up at the main house. Dog-friendly. When navigating to our place, please stay on the paved highway. The GPS may want you to come up the back roads, but don't let it fool you. Unless you really like adventure and have the right vehicle. Feel free to message us prior to booking if you have any questions!

You’re welcome to leave your car here during your backcountry stay. Contact us for more information on Work Crew Stays. Staying with us you accept the following: Our ranch is on Gun Creek Road, close to Tyax Lake, 30 minutes from Gold Bridge and Bralorne. It is about 2 hours west of Lillooet or north of Pemberton (6 hours from Vancouver) on a remote road with paved and gravel sections and no cell service. There is no cell service or TV at our location. Wi‑Fi is usually available but cannot be guaranteed due to weather and other natural factors outside our control. Each guest is responsible for cleaning the cabins when they leave, such as doing the laundry, washing all dishes. At the end of your stay, please bring all garbage to the main house so we do not attract critters and bears. We live in a true wilderness environment. The cabin water system uses filtered creek water and, though not common, there is always the possibility for water pressure to fluctuate. Weather and other variables can change quickly in the mountains. We expect guests to approach challenges with a positive, solution‑oriented mindset and to be respectful of nature, other guests and our team. We are experienced in dealing with nature’s challenges and will find a solution together.

I bought this magical property 13 years ago and I have developed it from beach to mountain with the idea of sharing it with epic humans since day 1. It is 1 acre of pure natural and artistic bliss. The natural wonders include a massive beach with space for many, a gigantic sling shot, sweet fire pits, comfortable lawn chairs, paddle boards, kayaks, a cedar strip canoe, and many other toys free for you to explore. Please note that the Beach house guests have priority of the Gazebo but there are many spots/tables and parasols set up to enjoy all other spots on the beach. My property has 2 rentals on it, the other is right on the beach called "Sweet beach house-edge of the water", in case you wanted to book both locations. There are also a couple of sites for extra guests to pitch a tent on for a fee. Its like jurassic park here...very tropical and chill. The artful camper boasts of an outdoor spa and deck, BBQ, mini fridge, fantastic lake and mountain views and access to the beach from 9am-8pm. The other rental a.k.a. The beach-house comes with an attached outdoor 1950's style kitchen, oudoor on demand shower, outhouse, fire pits, lawn chairs, and free use of water vessels. It is located steps from the water. Truly magical.

Come unwind in Lucinda the Bigfoot, located in the luscious urban-countryside of the Fraser Valley. Tastefully decorated and thoughtfully furnished, Lucinda is a small 1984 Bigfoot fiberglass trailer, her updated interior nods graciously at her charming, vintage past. Relax in lawn chairs under an airy canopy, light the fire bowl, and listen to the singing birds in the morning and peeping frogs at night. Lucinda is conveniently located in Abbotsford near three famous Mt Lehman area wineries, Mission Bridge, great walking trails and mountain hikes, fantastic Mt Baker view, berry picking, boutique shopping, and the Abbotsford airport. Lucinda features all the comforts of home snugly assembled in one cozy room. Great for a quick stop, weekend stay, or fun alternative place to have a break. Lucinda has a toaster, tea kettle, pots, cast-iron pan, and all your basic kitchen needs. Feel free to use the stove-top to heat something up or call in a meal with SkipTheDishes or DoorDash. In need of a coffee fix? If you are feeling organic, help yourself to local whole beans, or we have ground coffee for a speedier option. Savour it in genuine vintage Denby stoneware! Enjoy our comfortable mattress, pillows, and high-quality linens. Towels, toiletries, and a clothes steamer are provided for your convenience. You can adjust the thermostat to your liking, and the MaxxFan air vent works like an A/C on summer nights to keep you comfortable. Lucinda has a small table for meals or working on your laptop. The bed is a small full-size bed and can accommodate one adult or two slender adults who like to be close together 😉. You can stretch out comfortably at a length of 6’3”. Due to the size of the trailer, it may not be suitable for children. There is not currently a TV, but you will have access to WiFi, so be sure to bring your laptop to cuddle up and watch your favorite shows or movies in bed! The bathroom is, frankly, a fairy-sized wet room – Lucinda is economical like that. It will give you a decent shower though and we provide bath towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The toilet is flushable, and we provide RV toilet paper that is made specifically for our RV plumbing system. The water heater works well and heats up pretty quickly. However, it is a standard RV water heater which means you'll have about 5-6 minutes of hot water until it heats up again. The shower head has a stop button to control water usage while you are showering. Lastly, please do not be surprised that Lucinda is small; she is small. However, we find her to be a comfortable resting place. -Guest access- You may use the outdoor areas located directly outside of the RV but please respect the area around the adjacent private residence as off limits.
