Whispering Forest Campground

Unfortunately the campsite was closer to other campsites than expected and was about 20 minutes out side of goldens town center down a dirt rd. We arrived at night and couldn’t find the toilets.

The property is very beautiful and full with nearby birds and squirrels and I particularly enjoyed the surrounding tall trees that swayed in the wind - very relaxing! The nearby washroom with running water was very nice and appreciated. We were able to rent a propane fire pit from Randy and he was very accommodating throughout our whole stay! I wish the sites were more private as it is kind of an open floor plan but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Also, make sure to bring mosquito deterrents as they can get pretty annoying at some times (we stayed around early Aug)

Great facilities, toilet and trash were convienent and well kept. The host was extremely friendly and hospitable, keeping us well informed about local goings on, and gave us some complimentary mosquito coils!

Whispering Forest Hipcamp is conveniently located between Golden and Revelstoke, making a nice overnight stop when heading East or West on the Trans Canada highway. Our site was nice and level with a gravel surface. It was next to a site that had some construction equipment on it, but was quiet while we were there. The outhouse was clean, had running water and some fairy lights. It was relatively bug free as we deployed appropriate counter measures (Deep Woods Off and mosquito coils). We would be happy to stay there again if in the area.

The campground was a quaint little loop with a few sites. The pictures make it look more spread out with bigger sites than it actually was. The bathroom exists and serves is purpose. There was a lot of fresh berries around which had us concerned for bears in our tent. Nearby properties made some noise which I continually thought was bears. The hosts were helpful and greeted us when we arrived. Overall if you're looking for a spot to park your van or small motorhome for the night you'll be happy, but I'd explore other options first if you're planning on renting.

Cosy and quiet stopover

Cozy spot for a break from highway driving for a night. Sites 6 and 7 are very close together and maybe best for a group. Would book another site next time. Not much to do other than walk dirt roads unless there are trails somewhere that I missed! Great for a night to break up a long trip.

This camp site had what we needed for the night. The mosquitos were HUNGRY. The camp spot was peaceful despite the camp neighbors, and the running water in the sink in the outhouse was a nice surprise. Trail was a bit overgrown. Camping spots are close together so may be a bit noisier if all the spots are booked, but no complaints from us! Beautiful drive to get there.

Great little property with several camp sites! Amazing location, quiet at night and plenty of firewood available for bonfires. We really enjoyed our stay. Will be back again!

The site is very small and packed next to thick woods with an insane amount of mosquitoes. Tried to check out the meadow and ran 10 min into the woods on the trail and didn’t find anything but more mosquitoes, not sure if we missed a turn or looked in the wrong spot but didn’t see what the description talked about. Definitely need to bring lots of equipment as there’s no tables or water and limited space in the gravel to set up.

Cozy Vintage Camper ”Tealy Wheely”

Simple beautiful site that was flat, had lots of birds (which we loved), and was easy to find. The washroom was great and had running water which was a big plus! The site was quite close to other sites so it was not as private as we were expecting, but not unreasonable whatsoever. Our biggest challenge was the unrelenting mosquitos so just be prepared if you are visiting in early summer!

Amazing place in the forest

Randy and his wife did an tremendous job with the Tealy Wheely! It's cozy, functional and well equipped! Outdoor kitchen and hot shower are amazing. The site had a gazebo with mosquito nets all around so we could spend time outside despite the bugs. Will be back and would recommend to anyone that wants to explore the area.

Quiet location, nice site with basic amenities (outhouse, firewood) great location just off the Highway, recommend for one or two nights. Plenty of trees for shade, few mosquitoes but nothing crazy!

Paid $62.48 CAD to stay here for one night. Compared to other campsites where we paid less and received much more, we felt it wasn't worth it. We were not greeted at all. There is no power, water or internet and only 1 bar of service. There wasn't even any water to wash your hands in the toilet and there was no lighting. If you stay here be sure to bring plenty of water with you and a few head torches.

Willowbank Bell Tent (Off-Grid)

Beautiful area! Very treed in! Sites are close together but still feel private. Randy was very accommodating when I wanted to change sites once we arrived. He also recommended things for us to check out and a local restaurant in town to try out(Papa Bear’s is a must try!). Yea, there are mosquitos…just like everywhere else. So bug spray/thermacell is a must! Would definitely stay here again!

It was a nice location being close to some amazing places but the photos on Hipcamp are a little misleading. There is no privacy between the tent sites. The outhouse was a little rickety. There was free wifi and firewood which was super nice but I would not stay again. (also not that the host can control this but the bugs were absolutely crazy definitely bring all the mosquito nets you have!)
