Quiet, majestic back to nature spot!
This is a place to get away from a busy life.
With close proximity to Winchell Lake, this land is ideal for fishing, hiking or simply enjoying the breathtaking scenery.
We have 4 campsites available for tent or RV/trailer campers. If you're bringing an RV, we have two power outlets and water available. You will be parking on a field and the site requires levelling.
Electricity and firewood are both available for purchase (see extras below). Please add this to your reservation at the time of booking.
Campfires are permitted, pets are welcome. Potable water, picnic table, and outhouse are all available.
We have cows, goats, chickens, horses and dogs and cats on the property that
generally love people. :) I have only one dog and typically allow dogs to run off leash. We do have to be careful that it doesn't turn to a dog gang as this happened once and they took down one of my goats. The goats Hon and Chewy are okay but it took months for poor Hon to heal. I also worry about the chickens and the cats so please keep and eye on your dogs!
Lots of treed areas for private camping, horseback riding hiking and walking!
Bird watching is big around here as we are on a bird migratory path.
We are just above Winchell Lake and less than 10 km from Water Valley Golf Course and Saloon.
Please recognize that you are visiting a Ranch not a campsite. We are sharing our piece of heaven with you and you are helping to support our animals and their heaven.
Chickens are "True" Free Range and hand fed every morning. Eggs are $10 a dozen to pay for their feed. :)
Every spring the rain tends to cause ruts and washes out some of the road on the way to the back forty where the meadow is. We gather rocks on the property to fill the ditches but the early part of the year the roads can be bumpy. Please ask the conditions of the road when you book if you have concerns. Thanks!

Collin’s Wood is a very special place indeed. The land was bought by my grandfather years ago when he moved to Canada from England and wanted to chase his log cabin dream. Our main cabin my family built from trees on the land, entirely by hand. We have photos of the trees being cut and the bark being peeled off. Since then, we’ve made many changes out there, we now have a guest cabin that used to be a Teacheridge (back when teachers would live in a one room building beside the school), eventually it was turned into a cafe and now it sits on our land as a guest cabin. This place is so magical. With a quarter section of land I grew up running through the forest with my friends and learning about what the land has to offer. If you’re looking for adventure nearby, there’s wonderful hiking at Elk Island Park (30 minutes drive) or bird watching at Beaver Hill lake and hiking . The sites are all easily accessible by traditional cars and no special vehicles are needed. We have 4 sites that can accommodate up to 7 people each. The sites are in the open but have some protection and privacy provided by the trees. We have a fire pit, wood supplies, and a picnic table so you can enjoy your evenings by the campfire.
During your stay, you are invited to walk around the property to see our farm animals like goats, sheep, and chickens. If you’d like, we can even show you how to collect freshly laid chicken eggs, tend to a garden, or bird-watch all of the marvellous birds that fly about our property.
If you’re looking for adventure nearby, there’s wonderful hiking at Elk Island Park (30 minutes drive) or bird watching at Beaver Hill lake and hiking . The sites are all easily accessible by traditional cars and no special vehicles are needed. There is wifi and cell reception on the property, and we can also provide you with electricity to charge your phones or other devices during your stay, just ask! May is lambing time at RedRock farm ,

Our highland cows can also be seen grazing in the pastures nearby! There are ample walking trails with scenic views all over the property- we invite you to explore.
Our 160-acre regenerative agriculture family farm came to be in May of 2021. After previously homesteading on a humble 1-acre property our family had dreams of owning more land where we could establish a farm to call home for many years to come and farm in ways that would be sustainable for generations to follow.
Upon first look, the heart and soul that the original owners poured into this property shone like the sun glaring on the water of the river. We knew this was the perfect place to call home for our growing family, and a place so beautiful we could not wait to share it with others.

Nearby Jasper National Park makes an excellent day trip. For history buffs, our property is located between two former transportation corridors: the original Trans Canada highway and the Canadian Northern Railway. Explorer David Thompson led his expedition through this area in the 19th century. Coal mining history surrounds our town and county- many days can be spend exploring the ghosts of the Alberta Coal Branch! This site includes a fire ring, picnic table and a 15A electric hookup. Enjoy our two rescued historic Alberta transit coaches! Red Deer Transit 7115 and Edmonton Transit 429 arrived in 2023 and 2024, their resurrection is ongoing. Both attend car club events regularly.

We are available all year round. Rock Lake Provincial Park. 70km NW of the nearest town (Hinton).
You will enjoy peace in quiet in this remote, private, and off-grid location. Our cabins are in a forested area surrounded by mountains. Set apart amongst the trees for privacy.
Savour the sound of silence and smell the trees. Beautiful sunrises, sunsets, and stargazing at night!
Rock Lake is only 7km from the camp where you can enjoy
awe-inspiring views of Alberta's Northern Rockies while fishing, boating, mountain biking or hiking.
There is no TV, wifi, or cell service. Each cabin has indoor plumbing, toilet, shower, hot and cold running water and a wood-burning stove. All cooking is done on the deck of the cabin using a griddle. Propane supplied.
All firewood, kindling, bed linens, towels, pots/pans/cutlery included.
Please note, a 4WD vehicle is recommended to access the site.
Sub-Alpine area in front ranges of Alberta Rockies.
We are located 1 hour and 30 minutes from Jasper National Park and 3 hours from Mount Robson National Park.

For the second time this year an amazing stay at the Hideaway, made even better by host Gordon who kindly left a propane fire pit for us to use during the fire ban, lots of wildlife to be seen and the vintage trucks and farm equipment are a great touch on the walking trails, and to top it off a private fishing spot with picturesque views at the rocky lockout trail, we will be back next year.

This was my second time camping here and I think it’s officially my favourite campground. :) Geri and Pat are so welcoming, plus the sites are private with beautiful surroundings. This morning I saw the horses coming through the property too which was a huge bonus! With the Bowden Sunmaze close by, not to mention that this site comes with a bundle of firewood and water, I can’t recommend this place enough. With winter coming soon I hope to plan a weekend in the treehouse or other buildings soon!

Our hosts were very accommodating! We stayed at Woodbend for the night. It came with a bundle of wood, campfire pit, hammock and an abundance of property to explore! There is so much to see while walking around from the horses to the unique cottage/sleeping accommodations!

The Happy Hut and Treehouse are so cozy, every little detail is thought of and you are looked after so well! We loved camping at the Secret Sanctuary! We brought our own glamping and got the breakfast delivered to your site as an add on. Absolutely delicious! The whole experience and vibe of this place is really something special. We were looking for a getaway close to the city that offered privacy (which is hard to find these days) and were not disappointed. We want to bring the whole family next time we come! The hot shower and compost toilets were great, the trails and nearby lakes were awesome for exploring, and Denika and her family were so friendly and helpful. 5 stars! Also make sure to check out the store for amazing salves, delicious teas, and cute pottery!

Adrian met us as we pulled in and told us we were at the right spot. He showed us where we could park and told us the grassy area was ours to use. He offered us whatever we needed to make our stay pleasant. Later in the evening he and his son had to move the ducks and goose to the barn. They checked with us to make sure we were ok with that. Afterwards we had a great visit with both of them. The place was very relaxing. Definitely a great host and a great place to stay.
