Quiet, majestic back to nature spot!
This is a place to get away from a busy life.
With close proximity to Winchell Lake, this land is ideal for fishing, hiking or simply enjoying the breathtaking scenery.
We have 4 campsites available for tent or RV/trailer campers. If you're bringing an RV, we have two power outlets and water available. You will be parking on a field and the site requires levelling.
Electricity and firewood are both available for purchase (see extras below). Please add this to your reservation at the time of booking.
Campfires are permitted, pets are welcome. Potable water, picnic table, and outhouse are all available.
We have cows, goats, chickens, horses and dogs and cats on the property that
generally love people. :) I have only one dog and typically allow dogs to run off leash. We do have to be careful that it doesn't turn to a dog gang as this happened once and they took down one of my goats. The goats Hon and Chewy are okay but it took months for poor Hon to heal. I also worry about the chickens and the cats so please keep and eye on your dogs!
Lots of treed areas for private camping, horseback riding hiking and walking!
Bird watching is big around here as we are on a bird migratory path.
We are just above Winchell Lake and less than 10 km from Water Valley Golf Course and Saloon.
Please recognize that you are visiting a Ranch not a campsite. We are sharing our piece of heaven with you and you are helping to support our animals and their heaven.
Chickens are "True" Free Range and hand fed every morning. Eggs are $10 a dozen to pay for their feed. :)
Every spring the rain tends to cause ruts and washes out some of the road on the way to the back forty where the meadow is. We gather rocks on the property to fill the ditches but the early part of the year the roads can be bumpy. Please ask the conditions of the road when you book if you have concerns. Thanks!

We are excited to share our Alberta landscape with its beautiful sky, empty fields, and close up nature details.
Hillwinds House is a cozy Nordic-inspired cabin located on the edge of the Meeting Creek valley. The cabin is nestled in the trees on a 5 acre piece of land.
The cabin is completely off-grid with a wood burning stove inside to keep it warm. The kitchenette has everything you need to prepare meals: a gas stovetop, sink with gravity water faucet, and a YETI cooler stocked with ice packs to keep your food cool.
To access the king sized bed in the loft, a sturdy ladder must be climbed (see photo). Loft and ladder are “use at your own risk.”
A wood burning sauna is located just steps from the main house. Walk out on the wrap-around deck and light the fire in the sauna to get your sweat on. During the winter months, a snow bath is recommended for refreshment. (it feels so good!) We also have a handheld shower to rinse off with after the sauna. A wood-burning hot tub bathing area is available for bookings from May to October, and no hot tub is available in the winter months when it is too cold to change the water for each guest.
There is a dry flush toilet inside the cabin (in its own bathroom) so there’s no need to freeze your butt off in an outhouse. Sanitary wipes and hands sanitizer are conveniently located in the bathroom with the wash basin in the nearby kitchen.
As a guest at Hillwinds House, you will have full access to the entire 5 acre property.
Enjoy the spacious deck with valley views, sit in the sauna at dusk and watch the wildlife walk by. (deer, white rabbits, moose, and coyotes)
Put on your snow boots or skis and enjoy the trail that winds down the side of the hill towards the Meeting Creek townsite.
When you book a stay at the cabin, we’ll send you a welcome booklet with a list of our favourite places to go and things to do locally. We’ll be a few miles away on our farm if you need anything during your stay at Hillwinds House.

We had a very peaceful and relaxing weekend. Loved having a sauna every day and all the little extra comforts of the cabin that are provided. A lot of personal touches that add to the stay - coffee, tea, water ready to go, portable shower, plenty of firewood. All these things helped us just be able to relax and unwind.

Laura was an outstanding host. Not only did she invite us for Christmas dinner, but she showed my friend the true meaning of a Canadian Christmas. Her ranch is beautiful, with great walking trails through the trees. I’m excited to camp here come summer and spring time, what a beautiful place.
Her dogs, cats, and horses make everyone feel welcome!

We had such a wonderful stay at this cabin! The place is amazing, quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. Guillermo, their lovely dog, was a highlight of the trip. He gave us a little “tour” of the property and played happily with our dog, who was thrilled to run off-leash. Kerry is a fantastic host, always quick to answer our questions and make us feel welcome. We truly enjoyed our time here and are already planning our next visit this winter.

My partner and I absolutely loved the cabin. Beautiful details, comfortable bed, nice touches and everything you need to set up a little camp kitchen on the porch. The property is beautiful, the cabin is surrounded by trees. The little outhouse is very cute and does not smell like an outhouse because of the composting toilet. It even has a bag shower. I wish we could have stayed longer, I hope we'll be back!

This is the second time I've visited. Camped last year and stayed in the cabin this year. Absolutely love this space. Very quiet and peaceful. Spent most of our time outdoors, hoping it would rain so we could listen to it hit the metal roof, no such luck. Cabin is well stocked and the hosts are very accommodating. Will definitely be back!

This was our second time staying here in the cabin and it was great. We were worried about privacy with having someone booked the tenting site but we barely knew they were there. The brush really filled in compared to our stay back in May.
The hosts were just as nice, friendly and responsive as our first stay. Love that our dogs get along and I didn’t have to worry about mine. She had a blast running around and playing.

We had a great time Glamping here with our two little boys! It was the perfect way to camp in comfort (and warmth) with them. The cabins/tents and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. There was access to running water (non-potable) for dishes. The sauna was brand new and a definite touch of luxury. The staff were so friendly and approachable.

I highly recommend this for an overnight adventure. Close to the city and a hidden gem.

We had a nice time at the Rustic Cabin. It was a quick 45 minute drive from our house and the directions were perfect. Eugena was easy to communicate with and the property was beautifully kept. We enjoyed the quiet afternoon, and the temperature dropped overnight so we could have a great sleep. The only problem was that the train whistle woke me up a few times, but other than that, it was a great place to visit. We will visit again!

Such a beautiful and peaceful experience. We just got away for one evening but the second we arrived we were able to turn off and chill. The communication was fantastic and kept us up to date with any little issues that had occured. It is very very rustic and we wished we had been able to stay longer, there was a box of camping supplies for bits we had missed. We walked around the property and loved every second. Will return

The space is very clean, cozy, comfortable, peaceful. We enjoyed our privacy, the camp is safe & family friendly. It was our first camping experience and Denika was a huge helper, she answered all our questions even sometimes wasn’t really related to our booking. The camp is great choice if you want to experience of being camping but very suitable for families especially if you have little ones.
Denika’s family -all- were so welcoming and supportive. Her adorable girls are so sweet and great friends if you’ve little ones 🥰 We loved their quick response to change the compost toilet, refilling the water & ….etc
Their Homemade Breakfast is a must try, we couldn’t resist reordering it twice😋 Yoga session was relaxing.
We enjoyed the sandy beaches at Pigeon lake, Ma-Mo lake, hiking and we rent a water paddle. The Nature Shower was our daily treat after barbecuing and playing.
Everything is near by and accessible (15 mins) grocery, clothing, gas station, …. so don’t overpack.

4 nights at Trappers Hill Lodges & Campground
Wow what an experience, the drive up was a bit rough our first time but after the 2nd time it was no problem, our Honda civic got us through no problem! We loved the view from our cabin and enjoyed the sauna and Cold plunge after long days and in the early mornings. And we had Dusty (Campground cat) keep us company during the rain fall in the mornings and cuddles by the fire at night time on our last night. Coming from manitoba to camping in the mountains was an absolute adventure and would/will 100% come back, we had a leak in our cabin but Pete came and sealed it up the next day and gave us a free bundle of wood for any troubles we delt with. I recommend this place highly as its an experience you will never forget! Me and my honey will never forget our adventures there and am glad we found this gem.

Weekend Trip to Avant Gardens
Beautiful cabin and property. Right on a farmland. If you like that isolated feeling, this is perfect. Many greenery around. We went for a walk and enjoyed the privacy. We even got to see her cows. Close to town to grab stuff and even to use the washroom at the grocery store. Things to note, there’s no electricity, no wifi. It rained during our stay and the cabin was so cold, only source of heat is by lightening a fire through the wood stove.
