Nestled between the Gulf of Mexico and the Intercoastal Waterway, Sargent Island, with its unique, water-front home sites, was created in the 1950s. A quiet community, we feel Sargent is an oasis away from the crowds and congestion of other beach-side communities. We love taking a break from our busy lives to listen to the waves roaring down the shore. We think you'll love it, too! Learn more about this land: This is a 8000 sq ft privately owned, ocean-side lot. Located on a barrier island in Sargent, TX, the site offers a neighborhood atmosphere, with a secluded, unobstructed beach view. There is an approximately 30x30 gravel pad and long driveway. The property is beach front, but dune area/beach may not be accessible by foot (depends on tidal flow, rainfall, Gulf storms etc.). Full beach access is about 1/4 mile down the road. This is a subdivision--there is a neighbor on our right side. This is an RV lot only. This property suits smaller to midsize RVs and most wheeled campers (but no ground tents--there is too much ground wildlife for safety, though elevated, vehicle-mounted tents are fine).  The property is still in development. We currently have electricity (110v, 30, 50 amp), water, but NO SEWER OR SEPTIC. You must bring your own toilet facilities with you and take the waste away. NOTE: Public Toilet facilities and trash available 1.5 miles away. We do provide a picnic table, but it changes often--we lose them in storms, lol. You'll also have a clothes line and a canopy as wind/storms permit. If you're an introvert, dislike traffic or just like breathing room, you'll love quiet, crowd-free, Sargent beach. It's such a peaceful getaway!  ISLAND LIFE NOTE: This is the Texas Gulf Coast--we have mosquitos, and it's the state bird for a reason! Please bring SPRAY. We never guarantee a bug-free experience. This gorgeous, island property is vulnerable to the extreme weather conditions on the Texas Gulf Coast. It's a dynamic property, shifting and changing, depending on the weather--we try our best to maintain this property in a timely manner, but we can't control this Mother Nature factor! There may be times we cannot put up the shade canopy due to high winds, other aspects of the property may have shifted, there may not be a beach due to high tides, you may not be able to walk to the beach from the property, etc. Please ask questions and we'll communicate what's available at your booking time. Our strict cancellation policy encourages good communication at time of booking. We do not grant refunds for rain, tidal flow, or any other natural element beyond our control. Private lot on the Gulf of Mexico in Sargent, Texas.  Just walk across the foot path to the Gulf of Mexico.   Full RV Hookups - water, electrical (50A/30A/20A), and sewage.  70+ feet of concrete pad and driveway inside the fenced yard with plenty of space for all RVs.   The property is fully fenced. The entrance gate is 16' wide.  The yard is all St. Augustine grass.  Very clean and maintained.  Pets are welcome.  This property is tailored for RVs, 5th Wheels, Travel Trailers, and Motorhomes that have black and grey tanks and can hold their waste water (shower, toilet, and washing) for dumping into the on-site water treatment unit.  You must have your own shower, sinks, and toilet on your rig with holding tanks for black and grey water and the ability to dump into the dump location on the property.  The property is not designed for tent campers. The electrical and sewage hookups are on the left side of the property.  Motorhomes (Class A, Pushers, and Class C RVs can pull directly into the space with hookups in the usual location.  5th wheels, travel trailers, and campers that are pulled by a vehicle will need to back into the space as there is no room in the front of the property to drive in, unhook your vehicle, and drive the vehicle off the slab.  When you back in, the hookups will be on the the opposite side of your connections.  Depending upon your travel trailer and where you place your travel trailer on the slab, you may need electrical or sewage extensions to reach the connections. The vast majority of the renters who use the property used a 5th wheel, travel trailer or camper that is pulled by a vehicle. The pictures of the property show a line of granite blocks between the property and the beach.  The granite forms a seawall (called the revetment wall) that was installed by the Corp of Engineers and prevents beach erosion.  Depending on the tides, sometimes the Gulf waters hit the wall and there is very little beach area in front of the property.  Sometimes, there is a large beach area.  If the water is against the seawall and you’re looking for beach area, there are several beach entrances along Canal Drive within driving and walking distance.

Totally will be staying here again! Jim is great with his communication to include the mosquito density. All but one day was breezy so they were only an issue toward sundown. The lot is mowed regularly and all the hook-ups worked as they should. We will booking again in the near future!

Stella Mare is a very nice location, very clean or organized! Staff are very nice and welcoming. One thing to note is that there isn't tons to offer, but they do keep their pool open year around, they have a pool heater which is cool. They have a bar but it wasn't open the whole time we stood there. I hope they work on offering more stuff for us RV folks :)

Place is very well maintained. Clean and with good hookups. The fence was great for our dogs so they could run and play. A good kind of isolated. James provided us with good info and things to take into account. He made us aware of the mosquitos, which is something to plan for and know when and where be outside. The weather while we were at the camp was chilly so we were able to enjoy mornings and late evenings without worrying too much about them. If you are visiting plan ahead - shelter, permethrin, wondercide, citronella and protection for your dogs and yourself. We will certainly be coming back.

2 nights at No Moss Island

Came on Labor Day weekend, so I was expecting it to be crowded. It wasn’t. Not like Galveston or Corpus. Nice, peaceful, seaside town. This property has one side on the intercoastal waterway, the other is the beach. Great for fishing or beach combing. The road in is sand/gravel/shells. It has some potholes from the weather, but 2wd can make it. Just go slow. Property was well kept - clean and mowed. I know the description says the host will be there upon arrival, but they weren’t. But, everything was self evident. Host did respond quickly to my message. There is water, 20/30/50 electric, and sewer. There is a trash bin. The pads are pretty wide, enough room to have your lawn chairs/table etc. next to RV. The pads, though, are pretty close to each other. They are very flat. Bring your mosquito and ant repellent. There’s a small Texaco station on the mainland for gas and such. There’s a BBQ stand about a couple miles inland, and the largest restaurant, The Crab Trap, about 8 miles inland. If you are familiar with driving on the sand and have a capable vehicle, you can drive right out there and go quite a ways. A lot or two over is a mooring park that boats will pull up to rest. There’s not any shade so if this is something you desire, be sure to prepare accordingly. There’s lots of frogs at night, but they aren’t loud. Weekend Trip to Bella's Place on The Bayou

We had a great time. Took the family and three dogs. Has a dedicated fenced dog run. Very private location right on the Bayou. Has a great private dock with good fishing. Caught redfish, blue crabs, spotted sea trout, black drum, catfish, bluegill, ladyfish and alligator gar all in one spot. The hookups were in the perfect location and did not require a long 50amp cord or septic hoses. Surfside beach is only 18 minutes away for your beach fix and good food. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. Great host and great spot.

2 nights at No Moss Island

Moss Island was perfect. It was peaceful and very clean. I read previous comments before booking. The ants and mosquitos were minimal. The beach is literally right across the road. We just walked the beach some, it was not crowded and you could fish in the surf. The sites were clean and concrete slabs were nice. There was a large grass area, we were able to set up our chairs, tent, and poles. We caught a variety of fish and an eel. We also had fun crabbing. It was cool looking at all the big barges in the waterway . The only issue we had was the heat, but that is expected in August in Texas. We will definitely book again when it cools off some!

It is our second time here and our only regret is not coming back sooner. We absolutely love it here. We love it so much we would want to live here! James’s spot is amazing especially if you have dogs. If we lived closer we would be here more often. Please do not ever stop renting it!!! Thank you for your kind hospitality!

Full hookups right next to the beach, can't beat that! Sunrise on the beach and sunset over the canal. This beach is more remote than Galveston so it's a lot less busy. Lots of birds to watch, especially the pelicans. The barges in the canal right behind us were fascinating to watch. The noise might get annoying after a while but for 3 days it was still interesting.

Although just 45 minutes from downtown Houston, this state park feels worlds away. Wildlife stars, as the bottomland and upland coastal prairie provides a habitat for more than 300 documented species of birds, as well as 25 species of mammals and 21 species of reptiles and amphibians. Explore on foot, bike, or horseback along 37 miles of trails, cast a line from a fishing pier, learn about the park’s ecosystems at the nature center, or explore the galaxy at the George Observatory (part of the Houston Museum of Natural Science).

Notable campgrounds

Best for hiking: Burr Oak Camping Area offers easy access to nature trails.
Best for groups: The park’s primitive campsites feature a large central fire ring and proximity to the nature center.
Best for peace and quiet: Red Buckeye Camping Area has sites with water and electricity set away from the busy areas.

Tips for snagging a campsite

You can reserve any of the park’s 73 sites with electricity or 15 primitive campsites via the Texas State Parks online reservation system.
You can reserve a site up to five months in advance. Walk-ups are typically easiest to secure at Red Buckeye.
The sites at the Red Buckeye Camping Area are pet-friendly, so feel free to bring along your furry friends.

When to go

Brazos Bend State Park is open throughout the year. September through April is the best time to visit Brazos Bend for cool, comfortable weather. Summer temperatures can often reach triple digits. Come in fall or spring for the best opportunities to spot alligators, or any time throughout the year for excellent bird watching. The park generally closes for two winter weekends for hunting.

Know before you go

The visitor center, amphitheater, interpretive trail, and fishing pier are all wheelchair accessible.
If you’re visiting multiple Texas state parks during a calendar year, it may be worth purchasing a Texas State Parks Pass for unlimited visits and camping discounts.
Pick up basic supplies at the gift shops in the park headquarters, nature center, and George Observatory.
Swimming is not allowed within the park—be sure to stay at least 30 feet away from any alligators you see.

Brazos Bend Campground

Great camping experience for families or solo, spots are close but still feel secluded. Beautiful scenery and full of life, saw 5 deer while driving into the campsite. Prepare for lots of bugs but other wise perfect place to disconnect and only 30 minutes from town.

If you want to see Wildlife, this is the park to go to! I counted over 40 alligators on one of my hikes. Beautiful scenery and lots of outdoor activities to do.

Brazos Bend is one of my favorite parks in Texas. It is huge, with tons of trails and gorgeous wetlands, and the best part is that it's only an hour or so from Houston. We were there in June and saw alligators, deer, armadillo, and tons of bird species. The limited use cabins are great and are screened in which helps keep some of the bugs away, it can get hot in the summer, but that's Texas! There is also an observatory on site that was awesome, but I'd advise bringing wine and snacks while you're waiting for your turn for the observatory though because the lines get kind of long. I'd highly recommend making the trip to Brazos Bend for one or two nights!
