Murray Valley Camping

1. Murray Valley Camping

96%
(501)
62km from Greater Preston National Park · 12 sites · Tents, RVs · Bunbury, WA
Murray Valley Camping features campsites that are completely open in nature. Each site is close to the Murray River and is surrounded by nature, so you truly feel far away from the rest of the world. The property is close to the famous Bibbulmun track, with Harvey and Boddington equal distances away, so options to explore the region easily. Campers can go for walks along the river, relax, and enjoy the sounds of nature. Throw your kayak in for a paddle. Throw a line in and try your luck at fishing. As the day slips away, catch a beautiful sunset, as you toast marshmallows by the campfire (outside of fire restriction times). There are no toilets or amenities, so all campers need to be fully self-contained in that respect, with their own camp toilet and water, and we ask you to take all waste when you go. There’s also little to no cell reception at the sites. There is background noise from the nearby conveyer belt that goes on and off randomly. Some people take it as soothing white noise while others think it’s overbearing. Pet-friendly, so you're welcome to bring your four-legged friend along. Unplug from everyday life, escape and reconnect with friends and family in nature.

Solomon’s Rest

4. Solomon’s Rest

56km from Greater Preston National Park · 22 sites · RVs · Sunnyside, WA
235 acres on the top of the Donnelly River catchment. Seclusion at its best. Light and noise pollution free for open star gazing and serene sunrise/sunset views. 2 Dams available to swim most of the year round. The closest has easy gravel access to the water, a kayak or SUP waiting for use. A longer walk with an incline into a clay based Dam is another option. During winter a creek runs through the south of the property. We have grazing sheep with multiple paddocks. 1 Alpaca, Oscar, keeping guard. During lambing season you may get a chance to see them up close. Eggs may be available to purchase, depending on demand from our chicken Coop. 35 acres vineyard with Varieties of white and red. There are many unofficial paths to wander on the property, the driveway itself is great for a leg workout. Most places around the farm will have spaces accessible to walk, you may just need to 'pick a path' depending on the rotation of mowing and the level of wetness during rainy seasons. There may be snakes present. We have personally only seen 1 tiger snake in the 3 years of being here and it wasn't in a place for easy walking. Just be mindful At the moment we are offering only sites for fully self contained set ups. Our infrastructure is slowly expanding and we hope to offer more amenities in the future. Feedback and ideas from seasoned caravaners would be appreciated for the long term vision. The property is well situated for mid south west exploration 15km South of Bridgetown 25km North of Manjimup 45min to Pemberton and Nannup 1.5hrs to Kojonup through the back forrest 1.45 to Karridale and Margs An easy 2.5hr drive to Albany on the scenic Muir Hwy. While the property itself has a farming foundation, with the addition of orchards and vegetable gardens on the horizon, we are a holistically minded outfit. As well as myself, Andrew, permanent residents include Marcia and Brendon and their young son Elijah. As we expand we hope to offer a range of Massage/bodywork, yoga and meditation, group facilitation, energetic healing, catering and craft workshops on site. And a sauna house

68-acre peaceful retreat nestled within State Forest, a short drive from Donnybrook. We are one of only two properties in this small, isolated pocket. We have five sites available for self-contained campers. We do not offer any facilities. Self-contained campers/vans only, you MUST bring everything with you including a toilet. Stay here and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of your surroundings over a glass of wine from one of the local wineries or head out and explore the beautiful Geographe Wine Region. Redgum Hill Nestled in amongst the red gums on an elevated position near the edge of the property, you will be camping next to the old hay shed. The birdlife here is amazing, with red tailed cockatoos and honeyeaters amongst others frequently visiting. Please take care whilst exploring around this area, there are some deep rabbit warrens around the hay shed, which can be hidden in the grass in winter. Valley Vista Valley Vista is a private and secluded haven, on an elevated spot backed onto state forest looking down over the valley, with arguably the best views of the farm. Creek Junction Creek Junction is a peaceful area by the creek line nestled in amongst the trees, where the gully running down the hill meets the creek. One of our three dams is hidden in amongst the tea tree bushes nearby. You can see the house from this campsite, but it is far enough away that privacy is not an issue. Please be aware, all of our dams are seasonal and will be very low in the summer months. We also recommend that you do not swim in them. Hidden Corner Hidden Corner is situated at the back corner of the property. It is the most isolated of the three campsites with views of the open paddock and across the valley in front of you and state forest behind. Shed Pad (No longer has bathroom facilities) Shed Pad is our only powered site (15 amp) situated next to the main shed. It has a patio area with a table and 4 chairs (an extra 2 can be provided if required). WIFI is also available for an additional fee. The best camping in Greater Preston National Park, WA guide

Overview

About

Embark on an adventure through the serene expanse of Preston National Park, where the ancient Jarrah forest beckons with its majestic beauty. Wander along the Bibbulmun Track, immersing yourself in the vibrant wildflowers that flourish in Djilba and Kambarang. With no camping facilities, the park offers a pure, undisturbed natural experience for day-trippers and bushwalkers alike.

When to go

The best time to visit Preston National Park is during the wildflower season in Djilba and Kambarang, when the landscape transforms into a kaleidoscope of colour. Avoid the peak of summer, as the heat can be intense and the risk of bushfires is higher. Early autumn and late spring offer pleasant temperatures for exploring.

Know before you go

  • Ensure you have a personal location beacon (PLB) for safety, as the park is remote and rescue may be required.
  • Be aware that no dogs or other pets are allowed within the park to protect the native wildlife.
  • Entry to Preston National Park is free, making it an accessible adventure for all.
  • There are no visitor facilities, so come prepared with water, food, and first-aid supplies.
  • Respect the traditional owners, the Kaniyang and Wiilman people, by acknowledging their connection to the land.
