Blackwood Ridge Nature Park is situated on the Roebank property and as party of the first settlement in this area, both Roebank and the neighbouring Peninsula House have historical significance in Bridgetown. The Roebank Cottage was built in 1890 by the grand-daughter of John Septimus Roe who was a famous civil engineer contributing to the original town planning of Perth City and Roebourne. In the early days, Roebank was used for livestock grazing and had the largest shearing shed this side of Bridgetown used by the neighbouring farmers. Over the years the property has been used as a pear orchard, goat farm and other small farming activities. Today the property operates as a family hobby farm with short-stay accommodation along the river residences and nature park sites on the high points offering scenic views of the valley.

Peaceful Pastures

Peaceful Pastures is set over 9.3 acres. The back 5 acres has a watercourse running through with wild ducks. The neighbours cows visit at times. The front 4 acres has a shed in the centre and 3 caravan campsites. We welcome quiet and considerate campers, who are self-contained with their own facilities. A self-contained fire pit is provided at each of the 3 campsites, for use outside the state fire ban that extends from Nov 1st to May 10th. Firewood may be available, but bringing your own is recommended. There is a small water tank, with rainwater available at the tap. This is to be used minimally at times of no rain and not to be used for car or van washing. We have the odd kangaroo visit the front 4 acres and the ducks like to come through early in the morning and late in the afternoon. There are a number of wild emus in the area, which can often be encountered when driving along the road. There have been 2 snakes (dugites) sighted at the back paddock over the past several years. As the perimeter is mowed regularly, it is most unlikely there will be any at the property. However, if you wish to walk around the back paddock, gumboots are recommended, as a precaution. The front paddock containing the campsites is completely mowed and none have been seen there. The property is located 2.2 km off the South-Western Highway along a quiet, sealed road. Close by is the Kirup Tavern which has well-priced meals, pool tables and dartboards. It's a 15-minute drive from Donnybrook, with shops, restaurants, weekend markets and the Apple Fun Park, and 11 minutes from the tourist town of Balingup. Guests are welcome to use the chairs and picnic table, or the ballgames, which are on the shed front verandah. Please put anything you use back there afterwards.

Sorry dogs are not permitted We can take tents, camper trailers, RV's and small caravans up to about 8 m is OK. We do not have power to the campsite. The camp ground is on a working lavender farm and farming activities may be happening. We are small and exclusive so if you can't arrive before DARK please do not book. We don't want to be greeting people all hours as we are very busy so check in is 2 to 6pm. The lavender farm shop and cafe is open Friday to Sundays in term and Thursday to Monday during school holidays (closed February and Match) but campers can purchase lavender products on request. Camp fires in season (Usually May to September) and weather permitting. We supply fallen logs so no need to bring your own but fires only at night and not in the morning. Breakfast Basket or BBQ packs available, these are cook your own we supply all the ingredients and tools or dine in our cafe during your stay. Our creek runs for most of the year but there are pools of water and several springs all year round. It is very quiet, private and a great place to unwind. An unconventional farm located within walking distance from pemberton town site. there are a number of dams located on the property if you want to cool off or go for a quick paddle board or canoe. The pemberton pool and Mountain bike tracks are just over the hill a quick walk or even quicker ride. The pub and a number of eating establishments are also within walking distance or a 2 minute drive. The farm itself has horses and sheep at the moment along with all the other wild life that abounds the lower south wests Karri Forrest, if your looking for scenic bushwalks among Giants then it doesnt get much better. there really is a lot to do really close by and a great place to sit yourself to plan a few day trips fom.
