Something Different - Shed
Vivien is a lovely host and the property offers a unique camping experience. The lake is beautiful and well maintained, with kayaks available and a rich ecosystem around it. Even though the summer heat had dried up the grass, the kids still had an amazing time exploring the area (though it was a bit too cold for a swim!).
The shed is a practical addition — a typical farm shed so understandably a little dusty, but it worked well with a shower, toilet, mattresses, and a very functional kitchen.
Our group of more than 30 people (plus kids) had a fantastic time — adults played table tennis for hours, we enjoyed volleyball and badminton outside, and the teens loved the board games provided.
One thing to note is that the site is beside the road. The trees give some cover, but we did hear a few loud cars drifting late at night during our stay. Not the host’s fault, but something to be aware of.
Overall, if you’re not too fussed about a rustic farm-style setup and occasional road noise, this place is perfect for big groups. We’d happily come back in winter for a campfire. Thanks Vivien!

Another lovely stay at Something Different. The shed is perfectly equipped for our group, and is such a nice relaxed place for a weekend getaway. There's really nothing else like it within reasonable distance of Perth. Great value for money too.

This was our second stay at Something Different Shed Stay. The location is amazing. Vivien is a wonderful host and so accomodating. The shed is awesome for our large family gathering, with plenty of space for all the adults to relax and the kids to play and enjoy time together. I would highly recommend 👌

Great shed, so many toys to play with we didn't know where to start! Enjoyed having sheep to say good morning to and being able to start the day with a walk around a beautiful dam lake. Fully recommend and we will be back!

Something different was the perfect location for my 21st birthday! My friends and I all had a wonderful time, the location was gorgeous with absolutely everything you could need already provided by Vivien. Beautiful scenery, a lovely mob of dorpers in the paddock and enough firewood to keep us warm all night. A beautiful place to stay, I can’t wait to come back again

My group of 16, 30 year olds had an unreal get together over 2 nights here!
The scenery and space you are given at the stay would be very hard to beat!
The shed is huge so easily accommodated all of us with a fee extra swags around the place. Vivien supply's wood too for the outside and inside fires which was needed as winter in donneybrook is quite cold during the evenings.
We will 100% be back!

Beautiful private spot. Everything you need in the big shed for the campers that are not self contained. Close to road, but car noise not a problem. Dogs had a great time running around. Great host. We will be back.

Highly recommended Vivian's property. We had an amazing stay for 3 nights. We were self sufficient in our caravans but the shed has everything you need , huge kitchen, lounge areas and three separate bedrooms. Wood burners in the shed to keep warm on cold nights and a huge fireplace outside with wood supplied. Take a walk to the dam to see the ducks and sheep or just relax and enjoy the serenity. A must stay if in the area.

What a wonderful stay! I booked Something Different for my 30th. There were 17 of us, some of us in swags. Everything was perfect. Kitchen very well stocked, so many games and activities to do and the dam was such a great place for a dip. Vivien checked in on us and made sure we had everything we needed, which was lovely. Will definitely be back. My friends are already asking about booking it themselves!

Something Different was the perfect location for our group's weekend retreat. All the facilities we could need, and plenty of space inside and outside. The big barbecue made catering for our group a breeze. We enjoyed swimming in the dam and playing table tennis and board games. Our group was a bit bigger than the maximum listed number, but Vivien was happy for us to pitch a few tents outside. There's definitely enough space for a large group. The price is extremely good value for such a well equipped venue. I would absolutely recommend Something Different to anyone looking to host a getaway for a large group.

Absolutely loved our time at the Something Different shed. My friend and our collective three dogs (two border collies, one aussie shepherd puppy) had a blast kayaking on the dam, exploring the shed paddock, and playing with the resident kelpie pup Alfie. Shed is huge, beds are super comfortable, kitchen has everything you need to cook whatever you'd like - we've already booked to come back in winter!

Fantastic spot for camping with the option of using the beds makes it a really versatile place! Swimming in the lake was wonderful and secure for dogs was great. Highly recommend this place, can't wait to come back in winter and the fires going with a bottle of red wine!

This place was absolutely magical. The dam was clear and clean and even in January the area was green and lush. Vivien was so accommodating for our larger group and we had an absolutely fantastic time.
The shed itself is large and spacious and well equipped with a kitchen, shower, multiple toilets, and any game you could possibly think of. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were well insulated.
I can't recommend this property enough! Thank you Viven for an unforgettable weekend.

My stay at the Something Different Shed was an absolute delight! It truly lived up to its name, offering a unique camping experience with all the modern amenities you'd expect in a cozy retreat.
The shed is beautifully designed, blending rustic charm with contemporary comfort. The space was impeccably clean, thoughtfully decorated, and equipped with everything needed for a relaxing getaway. From the comfortable bed to the well-stocked kitchenette, every detail was carefully considered. The outdoor area was equally inviting, with plenty of space for our convoy of caravans and a crystal clear dam ideal for a leisurely swim or kayak for those summer days and a firepit perfect for evening campfires and stargazing in the winter.
What stood out most was the seamless balance between the charm of camping and the convenience of amenities. While I enjoyed the peacefulness of nature, I didn’t have to compromise on creature comforts like hot showers and a warm, cozy interior.
The host Vivien was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure my stay was perfect from start to finish with great communication. We even had their dog Alfie pop over for a play with our dogs throughout the stay, which was a delight.
Whether you're a seasoned camper looking to upgrade your experience or someone new to the idea of outdoor retreats, the Something Different Shed is the perfect choice. I can't wait to return!

Something different is the perfect getaway spot for a large family catch up. We spent 4 nights there and had the most wonderful time. It is located so close to some of the most stunning swimming spots, scrumptious breweries and wineries and a quick drive into Donnybrook for yummy bakery treats and a play on the playground for the kids. Something Different has everything you need. The kayaks in the dam were well loved by the kids and the well equipped kitchen made cooking a breeze. The owners are the most welcoming people and their dog Alfie was wonderful with our dog and the kids. Thank you, we will definitely be back!!

We had a great time with the kids and four dogs. Lots of room to run around, kayaking (or swimming for the dogs) in the dam and games to keep everyone entertained. We even saw 3 little lambs. Donnybrook isn’t too far so it doesn’t matter if you forget something or need a barista made coffee.

Good spot close to Bunbury/Donnybrook/Australind.
We stayed at the SHED for a weekend in November 2024. (4 families) with 8 kids between us and 2 dogs. 1 family in a camper trailer & the others in the SHED.
Our kids enjoyed using the kayaks on the dam. The massive kitchen was fully stocked with pots/pans/cutlery and utensils plenty of room for us all just to kick back chill out, relax and recharge the batteries before silly season arrived 😜

My friends and I stayed here for the week and we already miss it. The dam is great to swim in and use the kayaks, and the shed itself is really spacious which was good for socialising and moving around.
The place was equipped with everything we needed for the week and we had a very comfortable stay.

Ran a Bux party here with 15 lads. We were respectful of the land but could play music loud, play some wide games in the damn and chill as a large crowd without feeling like the living space was small. Parking cars wasn't an issue for the group and could set up tents as well. I took up several large pans because I wanted to cook mass food for the group quickly but I don't think that's a short coming of the host, there is decent kitchen gear available for usual guests. This facility is awesome for a large family or even multiple families that wanted to have a fun getaway. Thanks so much for a great stay Vivien!

We loved the Something Differeht Shed. It was exactly what it said. We loved the whole set-up, from the relaxed atmosphere of the shed to the peace and quiet of the location. Would be even better in the slightly warmer months so we could use the kayaks and boards on the dam but the indoor wood fires and camp fire outside kept us nice and warm. We will be back. Thank you Vivien we loved our weekend.

Great big shed with indoor fire to keep us out of the weather when it came in. Lucky we didn’t need it too much so the big fire pit out front was where it was at. Paddock we camped in was pretty well fenced to keep the dogs in except for the gap under the front gate which fronted a fairly busy road. Lots of games for the kids. Felt like I was back in the 80s. Clean warm beds. Vivienne was quite quick to respond to queries. Thanks for a great stay. We all had a great time.

great open space to roll out tents or swags, plus the shed has a full service kitchen. we had a fantastic stay, caretaker was friendly and helpful. the farm kelpie will come and kick the footy with you, when he isnt herding the sheep (which he's probably not supposed to be doing).
A wonderful spot for a weekend getaway with mates, or a longert stay with a few families that dont need everything to be the waldorf astoria.
