Otford is a historic village in a valley between Sydney and Wollongong, and bounded by the Pacific ocean. Our private acreage backs onto the southern tip of the Royal National Park, so the outlook from the campsite is all leafy trees. Walk to lookouts over the ocean, hike down to the beach or a few minutes drive to dog friendly beaches. Our bathroom and kitchen facilities make it an easy experience for first time campers. We are well-behaved-dog-friendly BUT you must let us know in advance. Our access track to the camping sites has been repaired with a deep layer of asphalt but still best suited to 4WD. The majority of standard 2WD cars manage the track fine There is also the option of parking roadside, and walking in approx 300m to the sites. Please message us if unsure about your vehicle. IMPORTANT PLEASE READ 1. Please let us know if you are bringing a dog/dogs - we have horses, house dogs, chickens and; wildlife plus likely other campers close by, so need to be forewarned. Dogs must be on lead or contained at all times. 2. If you need to camp out of your 4WD RV (such as a roof top tent), please contact me before booking to ensure those two particular vehicle sites are still available :) and that your vehicle is suitable for our track. Maximum length is approx 5m. Please scroll through the photos to see our amenities and camping sites. 3. We limit the number of people staying at any one time, so weekends book up quickly. That said, due to Covid and weather, people often cancel at the last minute too, so if we are currently booked out, it's always worthile checking again closer to the date for any availability. Located just one hour from Sydney, our property features 19 acres of pure serenity with two dams and one large enough to kayak on (kayaks supplied). The back of the property is perfect for camping and suitable for a small to medium caravan/camper. The larger dam has a picnic area and kayaks available to paddle on. Adjoining our property is Nattai National Park with a lovely 20 minute walk down to Little River. The Aqua Pool Trail in the National Park is just gorgeous. If you wish to try and catch some yabbies from the dams the only allowable and fun way is by a long stick and sausage. Hooks, fishing lines and traps are not allowed as we have people, dogs and horses swimming in the dams. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their shower/toilet set up. We do have two drop pit toilets available and each campsite has a pit fire provided. We are getting low on firewood so you will need to bring some along with you. There is access to drinking water. Our property is 2WD accessible and can accommodate small caravans and camper trailers. Not far from Buxton is Thirlmere where the Steam Train Museum is and train rides are available on the weekends, a great activity for the kids. Thirlmere Lakes National Park is perfect for a relaxing picnic, walk, birdwatching, and glimpse into locomotive history. Mittagong and Bowral have great wineries with restaurant/bistro. Pets are welcome. There's a range of different bushwalking trails in the region, including Starlights trail, a scenic bushwalk suited to experienced hikers, which forms part the Greater Blue Mountains trail network between Mittagong and Katoomba.

Elouera Vale is a working farm located just outside Mittagong NSW. We breed and train camels for sale, especially into the Southern Highlands. Camels are excellent for weed control and co-grazing with cattle. 'Elouera Vale' also breeds Belted Galloway cattle, Dorper and Wiltipol sheep and donkeys. Our property covers over 140 acres, 80 acres cleared and pasture improved and the rest consisting of forest. The Chain O Ponds creek runs through the property and makes for a lovely walk. You will probably get to see kangaroo, wallaby, wombats, echidnas, koalas and lots of bird life. The lush green hills abound with walking and cycling trails. You can head to the spectacular Nattai Gorge via the Box Vale Mine walking track, an easy 4.4km circular walk that follows an old railway line through a tunnel to breath-taking views. Nestled right up against the escarpment at an elevation of 450m, this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround. It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views. As of September 2025, many of the trails on the property have been degraded by the rains and are now challenging for 2WD cars. If you're towing or it's wet we recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles. Since this is coastal rainforest and it has been very wet, expect leeches anywhere it is damp. These are easily kept at bay with deet and or trousers tucked into socks. We're not particularly price sensitive - until all those rate rises - but we are extremely value sensitive so we set out to make your stay extremely good value for your hard earned money. The land itself does most of the heavy lifting but also personal service and of course there's Lana to fall in love with. Note, Mellows Rd is 2.6km long and rises 400m - in parts the road is a 15 degree grade. It's all paved but narrow so if you are towing a large heavy load, it's going to strain your car.

Kiama has a great market on each month where you can check out the local offerings and enjoy a stroll along the esplanade or check out the famous Kiama blowhole and lighthouse. We are with easy reach of the Budderoo National Park which is full of stunning walks and waterfalls that are always popular. We are a short drive to the Jamberoo Action Park and Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk which are both great places to visit for kids and families. Please note our dogs can sometimes bark during the night as they are protecting the house and areas nearby. You must bring your own portable toilet. You are unable to bring your own dogs. I checked in late with no issues. There wasn’t the Hip Camp sign but once I drove to the property Bruce was there to greet me. He was very kind and I had the choice of a few camp spots. I stopped over during a long drive.

Very kind and wonderful hosts. It was a truly lovely stay. Perfect for one night or even longer. We especially loved the opportunity to do laundry for free and to enjoy the incredible bathroom. Thank you, Debbie and Lambert , you are amazing. P.S. With a bit of luck, a few kangaroos might stop by in the morning.

Katie was an excellent host. We camped near the hen house with the horses nearby. Shower and toilet were great and we were able to power the trailer for some aircon on the hot days we had while there. The kids loved feeding the horses and getting the fresh eggs in the morning.

Fantastic place to stay with lots of space and nice privacy, we arrived later than we would’ve wanted but Luvina was still on hand to help us find the property. Nice and peaceful place with lots to do and decent facilities for how rural it is! We would love to return at some point

What a wonderful place to stay, Mel was a fabulous host. So tranquil, directions were good but vague, we missed the turnoff so could do with a sign on the fence from the road possibly. Otherwise such a lovely spot, nice little creek flowing next to our site. Easy access with our 14ft caravan and Triton, also had a Hyundai i load with no dramas. Overall we would come again. Good access to Wattamola falls Beach, Thirroul etc.

Great location with lots of features. Both Dams are perfect for cooling off kids/dogs - both have really good access, and plenty of vegetation and shade. Sites are spaced-out well and directions provided were great. Highlight was the walk down to down to Little River, which was easy to find.

It was our first time camping and we honestly had the best experience. The host was incredibly nice, friendly, and very informative, while still giving us complete privacy throughout our stay. The highlight of our trip was Lana (the host’s dog) — she was the sweetest, so friendly, ans stayed with us most of the time which made the experience even more special. We were short on time so couldn’t do the trail on this visit, but we’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend this place to anyone planning a camping trip!

Weekend Trip to Buxton Getaway

Great spot above the big dam. Spent the heatwave (41degrees) here and being able to swim in the dam or down at the river (10min walk) was perfect. Felt like we had it to ourselves despite 2 or 3 others being there. Loads of space. Also feels quite off grid but only a short drive to town to pick up any bits you need.

We had a great weekend staying at Dharawal Camp. The camp has plenty of flat ground for tents, easy parking for campervans, and a spacious cabin with running water, some basic supplies and a ping pong table to entertain little ones. Jinnga waterhold nearby was beautiful and really worth the walk. We also had the pleasure of learning about David's art practice with his add-on art lesson, and would highly recommend this to others.

We’d definitely recommend this place! Debbie and Lambert were wonderful hosts, incredible welcoming and accommodating especially with our later check in. Debbie was available at all times for anything we needed and Lambert showed us around the amenities which included a very modern bathroom and kitchen inside a large shed that we were lucky to have to ourselves for two nights. Also had some games for the kids and a book of recommendations on things to explore around the area. Lots of mosquitoes though, bring repellent, you’ll need it.

Weekend Trip to Pheasant Ground

I liked how secluded and private the camp site. It’s nice to pitch a tent on grassy ground. It’s surrounded by trees, so we got plenty of shades and avoided the sun during high heat of 37C. The toilet is not near, maybe 250 metres away. I don’t mind the walk at day light. It’s a flush toilet, has sink to wash hands. Bring your own soap and toilet paper. It has sensor lights and switch light inside. Very low traffic sound, not bothered at all. We hear mostly birds chirping, which is great. Grocery is 8 minutes drive. Carrinton falls is about 5 mins Drive. Illawara Fly Tree top is about 10mins. The delicious Robertson Pie 3 mins drive. Must try lemon tart and chunky beef pie. Anyway, overall we enjoyed our stay. Highly recommends this camp site if you want to explore around the area. Oh also the host is prompt in responding to my inquiries. Thank you.

Absolutely loved it, so did the kids. Mini 4WD track, fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, boating. We loved waking up with cows and sheep surrounding us. Haha. Definitely my new 'go to' camping spot. 💜

Perfect campground for our family with younger kids. The host set up a big water slide and the river was calm and shallow for the kids to swim. The campground was big, so although there were others there was the privacy of your own spot. Plenty to pick from. Would definitely recommend!

It was a great place, lots of spaces to choose, toilets are ok for a campsite. Many fireplaces to choose from. Lots of available river water pumped. After asking for permission Phil even allowed us to stay a few extra hours after packing up and checking out, which meant we go go for a swim
