Old Forty Pumpkin Farm is located in Colo Vale which is 1 hour out of Sydney, 10 mins from Mittagong and 15 mins from Bowral. The owner, Bruce, grows giant pumpkins as well as other fruit and vegetables. The property is the last property in McCallums road so there is absolutely no passing traffic making for the most serene, peaceful stay. The property has various campsites to select from, each with its own fire pit, perfect for a quiet drink while the sun goes down and toasted marshmallows under the stars. Firewood is not provided so please bring your own. There’s plenty of room for mountain bike riding, and bushwalking with many beautiful walking trails. You will need to bring your own toilet, and all rubbish must be removed when you leave.

We had a choice of sites but all appeared to be very well.maintained Bruce had sent a message but I didnt see it until we arrived at the property bit no issue - quick phone call with easy directions and we were soon setting up camp - Bruce came.and introduced himself and had a yarn spon after - great spot in easy reach of Sydney Would recommend 4wd if its been raining

We stayed at Bruce's property on the June long weekend. Bruce greeted us on arrival and guided us to our site. Lovely location, peaceful and with its own fire pit. The days were sunny and nights cold, sitting around the firepit was a perfect way to relax and unwind. Would definitely recommend this property, close enough to Sydney but far enough away. We will definitely be back.

We were on Site 3 which was adequate. There are better sites on the property further away from the motorway and with a more open view. On the up side the fire pit areas are 10/10. There was also a drop toilet near our site which was clean and odourless. The property adjoins bushland so would have expected to see more wildlife. Campers are allowed to bring dogs which may explain why. Would recommend for an overnight stopover or a base to explore the area.

Great location and Property. Bruce is very welcoming. If you want privacy and peace though the sites are 100m away from each other which doesn't offer that. You will see and hear other groups. Not sure why when it's 124 acres

Not a million miles from Sydney for a quick getaway into a secluded spot in nature. Nice area for us and the dog to roam around. Enjoyed the campfire and cooking grills provided.

Great weekend away. Easy drive from Sydney & felt a million miles away. Exactly what we needed. Bruce has sectioned off each site so everyone is really nicely spaced out, meets you on arrival and takes you to your site. Great drive in, no issues.

We had such a wonderful stay at Bruce’s property. It was so peaceful and the landscape was beautiful. Bruce has done a great job with the sites. He has set up fire fits, smoker and seating around the fire. He greeted us upon arrival and took us to our site. I would highly recommend a visit.

Beautiful paddock with plenty twigs to start the fire. This is proper camping - you’ll need to be entirely self sufficient. Lovely walks around the farm. Bruce was a welcoming host.

Totally unexpected to find such a well set up rural place so close to Sydney. Massive sites, fire pits at all, firewood stacked nearby, wind breaks complete with fixings so you could string up a tarp should the weather not be so kind. Bruce guided me to my site, taking time to highlight a couple of low branches that could potentially have caused a bit of scratch to the top of my van. Great place for solo travellers, families or even larger groups. Loved it and given how close it is to Sydney definitely will be back.

We had a wonderful stay at Old Forty. Bruce was a wonderful host and Old Forty was such a beautiful place to stay. The property was peaceful, relaxing and exactly what we needed for a weekend getaway. We especially loved the sounds of the birds and nature, which made it feel like a real escape. The campsite was clearly very well looked after, and the fire pit was a great touch for a cosy night. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy a quiet stay in nature.

Loved our stay on site 4. The fire pit set up is fantastic, with a hot plate for cooking with heaps of timber supplied. Cooked a nice steak over the fire. Will stay again.

Quiet Secluded Retreat

Beautiful quiet spot amongst the trees. Very private with plenty of space for larger groups. Can see other campers but plenty of room between sites. Right at the back of the property so very quiet. Has well set up fire pits at each site also. Plenty of room for the kids to play. Note: It is a bit of a goat track to get in for larger vans so you will need to be good and confident with your rig at getting around some tight corners if you have a larger rig setup. We got two 19ft vans ok but was a little slow going in with low branches and tight corners and a small muddy creek crossing right on the bend. Would not want to do it in the wet unless you have a good 4x4 set up. Host leads you in so you don’t get lost.

Had a great overnight stay here, Bruce was fantastic in showing us to our campsite - we were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves however, all sites are quite far away from each other so wouldn’t have mattered if anyone else was around!! Will definitely return if I pass through again.

Lovely private campsite in nature. Access track to campsite very steep & rocky plus there is a creek to cross. Bruce assured us ok for our small 2wd caravan but it was a struggle & with unpredictable weather we chose not to stay. Dissapointing & expensive. Nice but not suitable for our rig.
