The property is adjacent to the Samaria State Park containing walking tracks and remnants of past logging activities. The Kelly Tree at Stringybark Creek is a short drive away. Also nearby is the Tatong Tavern which has a lovely country feel and serves meals seven nights a week. For film lovers the renowned Swanpool Cinema is a 15 minute drive away. Your campsite is nestled into a bush setting in a quiet corner of the property offering peaceful enjoyment of the sounds of the forest. The creek has several water holes suitable for fishing and swimming. Nearby attractions include Lake Nillahcootie and the historic township of Tolmie. Further afield there are wineries at Millawa and Taminick. Glenrowan township is close by and offers access to another wine region and the site of Ned Kelly's last stand.

The site is close to the road which normally has little traffic although log trucks do use it occasionally. The property is adjacent to the Samaria State Park containing walking tracks and remnants of past logging activities. The Kelly Tree at Stringybark Creek is a short drive away. Also nearby is the Tatong Tavern which has a lovely country feel and serves meals seven nights a week. For film lovers, the renowned Swanpool Cinema is a 15-minute drive away. Your campsite is on the site of an old Dairy that has been re-roofed to provide good shelter. Tank water is available at the site. Natural bushland is 500 metres away and you are 1 km from the creek which has several water holes suitable for fishing and swimming. Nearby attractions include Lake Nillahcootie and the historic township of Tolmie. Further afield there are wineries at Millawa and Taminick. Glenrowan township is close by and offers access to another wine region and the site of Ned Kelly's last stand.

Good access from road. Situated in paddock with adjacent trees overlooking creek and hillside. Part of working sheep and cattle farm. Close to creek with good swimming holes. There is no internet access and probably no mobile access either. The paddock has cattle on rotation so expect some evidence of their presence.

Mountain Solace: Old Dairy
We really enjoyed our stay at Mountain Solace. Beautiful scenery by day and no light pollution at night, which made for perfect stargazing conditions. The host Woz, is fantastic and friendly. He stopped for a chat after dropping firewood off for us. Our site wasn't the flattest but we did find enough level ground for our large tent and we set up our camp kitchen in the old dairy.

Stayed here over Easter Long Weekend - Lovely country side, the drive in through the valley is nice. The spot wasn’t exactly what we imagined, the property is VERY hilly. You’re tucked away in the bottom corner, with 1-2 medium sized flat spots. Definitely only suitable for tents/swags or off road capable vans, you could make it up in a 2WD, but I wouldn’t recommend it while towing. There is no water access on the property, there’s a tiny trickle of a stream about 200mts down the dusty road, or a couple of klms back out towards the main road there’s an awesome swimming/washing hole. If you can make it up the hill (not recommended for anyone unfamiliar with 4WD), the view is breathtaking taking. Would be a lot better if the areas was leveled out a bit more, especially the fire pit area. If a track could be cut up the hill, camping with that view would be bloody amazing. Yeah drove in and then drove out unfortunately not level enough for our van and our friends camper trailer . Not kid friendly at all with thisels half a meter high all about and not safe for 4 kids under 3 . May be OK for 1 couple or something but just not for us . Maybe the other spots on hod farm would be more appropriate for a group and kids not sure .

A nice private site with an established campfire area to camp around. Beauty of a creek/watering hole only a 5 minute drive. A bit hilly but to be expected for a campsite named Mountain Solace! Enough space for our cars/tents to all get flat ground. All in all a lovely spot for a quick get away.

The general location was beautiful. Amazing scenery, and a really lovely creek a couple minutes drive. But the camp site was just in the paddock, right next to the road. Which was fine until Monday morning when the logging trucks started at 5am. Loved having the old dairy for shelter and shade.

As a group of friends we enjoyed having our own private camping area surrounded by tranquil bushland during a long weekend public holiday. A highlight for me was the huge variety of birds. Woz was great at communicating ahead of our booking and it was a nice surprise to find lots of firewood provided beside the large firepit.

Great isolated spot. Views were amazing with mobs of kangaroos juat near camp. It wasnt the flatteat area, but was fully stocked with firewood and onky a shirt walk to the creek. Directions to get there were spot on.

I loved the serene location of Woz's site! Surrounded by nature, secluded and quiet. Was quite hilly, so we had only a few choices for where to park the caravan, but was really happy with how close the site was to Tatong (visit the Tavern - excellent pub!) and other wineries/towns. Not very many obvious watering holes nearby unfortunately, but maybe we just weren't looking in the right spots! Hardly any reception, which can be ideal, but good to know going into it! Perfect for the dogs too, as quite a good portion of it was fenced in and not near any main roads.

The site is not really suitable for bigger rigs. We couldn't use the site so sadly had to go elsewhere. It was also difficult to contact the host due to no mobile reception being available, which was not his fault. Also, the site had a number of cattle, including calves, camped at the site. There was a good supply of wood for a fire which would have been good had we stayed there.

Absolutely lovely place to camp. Great location out of the way but easy enough to get to. Lots to do close by, the swimming holes were a hit with my kids.

Mountain Solace: By the Forest
Our family loved this spot and will be back again for sure. If you are looking for a secluded and private spot with one the one site this is for you. Tatong tavern is only a 10 min drive away, the wife loved being able to go out for a meal and then get back to camping in 10 mins. A lot of great places to visit are not that far away and so makes this an awesome spot base yourself. Less than 5 mins away is Holland Creek with some amazing swimming holes with a little waterfall and rapids the kids played in for hours, we went over Christmas and still pretty much had the place to ourselves. Never got to meet up with the owner of this beautiful property but the chat we had after I booked it was very pleasant and his friendly personality made us feel very welcome. The site is very easy to find with some nice flat areas to set up, we have a Jayco Outback Swan and had no problem getting it up the entry track.

Mountain Solace: By the Forest
Great location and close to a very nice swimming hole. Tatong pub, which is about 15 minutes away, is a good local with tasty meals and cold drinks. This is a lovely area with heaps to to without driving very far. The site is simple and you need to bring everything, including your port-a-pottie. Suitable for a few camper trailers or tents. Not suitable for a caravan, track in has several large trees that would make that difficult.
