The Mountaintop Shack had incredible views, the photos don’t do it justice. It only had very basic ammenities so be sure to bring an Eski, bedding and shower (if staying more than one night). You will definitely need a 4WD to get to the top, but worth it once you get there! The cows were adorable and friendly, and our pup and 8month old baby had a great time exploring. John was super helpful and gave perfect directions. Thanks a million John!

Ellenborough Cabin
We stayed at Ellenborough Cabin for 4 days, and it was an incredible experience. The location is absolutely beautiful and super quiet, perfect for anyone looking to escape the hustle. The access road to the cabin is stunning, it could probably be doable but challenging with a 2WD.
The cabin itself was well-equipped, with thoughtful decoration and all the amenities we needed. The camp fridge worked great, and the beds were clean and comfortable. We had lighting and plenty of firewood, including some freshly cut logs ready for us. All in all, a fantastic stay in a peaceful spot—highly recommended!

It's a rustic cabin on a farm with a lot of cute cattle. Was really lovely sitting on the deck. its basic, dusty, and really peaceful. The host John was a nice bloke, and my friends and I found it a great getaway. The old wooden stove keeps the place cozy and warm and the beds are comfortable.

Really beautiful location. Very accommodating. Plenty of firewood and all items we needed were on site. Would recommend and would go again.
For anyone reading this and planning a trip, would recommend you take bed linen though.

Mountain Top Shack
John was a fantastic host! They kept us in the loop the whole time and even made sure we wouldn't get lost on the way. provided clear instructions and helpful guides, so finding the place was a breeze. We had a wonderful experience and a truly enjoyable time – thanks in large part to John's efforts!

Beautiful location and views. However, inside it was very dirty and messy. When we walked in at night there were cockraches scurrying around the kitchen- i dont like cockroaches. For someone who doesnt mind bugs it would be great. Hot shower, working toilet. Hosts are lovely.

During our second stay at the camping site, we were once again delighted with the experience! The glamping cabin offered the ideal mix of luxury and nature, and our two dogs were just as excited as we were. The captivating morning fog added a touch of magic to the scenery, and finding the location was a breeze. We thoroughly enjoyed spending time by the creek and being in the company of cows, bulls, and cattle provided a charming countryside vibe. Without a doubt, we'll be returning for another wonderful getaway. Highly recommended for a relaxing and unforgettable retreat.

This was our second trip up the Mountain Top Shack, and once again we had an amazing time! The view took our breath away every morning, and John was such an excellent host making sure we had firewood and was safe when it rained on the 4WD trail.
This is quickly becoming out go-to spot! Thank you John!

I loved the place,very calm and quite away from busy city life. John as a host is awesome. He is very friendly. We had the best camp fire. John provided us enough firewood. I would definitely recommend this place.
Just one advice to campers, get a good 4WD if the weather is bad.

Loved the place, amazing fireplace. Fire camp would easily beat any other camping facility.
John, the host is amazing, very friendly and offers help and suggestions. His pet Luca was playing around with us.
We are thankful for all the wood we got to have our fire camp night. Night was amazing, we enjoyed star gazing and tracked the moon till it hid itself behind the mountain. Cool Cows paid us a visit, had couple of kangaroos welcoming us 😃
Only advice to future patrons would be to use a good 4 WD, would be easy to drive through the rough roads in bad weather.

John's cabin was perfect to rest and recharge: surrounded by gorgeous green foliage and peaceful spots to walkabout. The cows were so entertaining and the house had everything I needed. I would definitely stay again!

Mountain Top Shack
We had a great stay at John's mountain shack over new years eve. John was really helpful and gave spot on navigations for the 4WD track to the site. We had a Landcruiser so didn't have any trouble on the road/track. The shack had everything we needed, we mainly used our camping supplies and put our mattress inside rather than set up our tent, which you could easily do.
The view was incredible! The shack is also really close to Ellenborough Falls which I definitely recommend checking out.

The drive to the shack is amazing. You will need some 4WD skills and an appropriate vehicle but it’s definitely part of the experience. The view is mind blowing we slept in our swag under the stars, having the shack to store our stuff and take shelter in every now and again is the perfect comfort camping experience. The host was amazing and even thought to check in on us when leaving as there had been a light rain on the 4WD track. Also 5 star rating for the cows they were so friendly, one licked my ear 😛.

Beautiful location, one not to miss!
The host was super helpful with directions, follow them and you won’t get lost - look out for the sign and the white plate marking the entrance to the track (see photo)
Expect branches to scratch the car, etc and once you get to the gum tree on the high / low bit, after the second gate, stick to the left is the correct route to the top.

It's a great place for spending a couple of nights. You have a stunning 360° view and creeks to visit and have more fun. It's not a luxury hotel, but you have a warm shower and two bedrooms with two beds/mattresses. Yes, we did have a great time, and yes, we do recommend this place :)

The mountain shack is on top of the mountain with stunning views all around. You feel like you are far away from civilisation, yet only 30min from Wauchope. It's a fair off road uphill drive in your 4wd to get there and well worth it. There are plenty of curious cows around to keep you entertained, whilst watching the sun rise and set through distant eucalyptus mist. Dangling the legs over the deck with a cold beverage in hand enjoying this beautiful landscape was bliss. The shack is a great basic shelter with a couch, table, chairs, and one mattress. Bring your own camping extras you need. Rainwater tank had fresh drinking water.

Amazing place to camp if you wanna get away from everything and still indoors! view is amazing, unfortunately the weather didn’t help us much but i’d definitely come back. proper 4wd is a must to go up the mountain.

This was a unreal experience . John provided us with a map which led us direct to the track up-to the mountain . The drive up to the top definitely needs a 4wd . The shack had everything you needed . We stayed in a swag outside but you can sleep inside on sofa bed . The fresh water shower was amazing and cold and was perfect before enjoying my cup of coffee on the outside area . The cows came and said hi and was very comical . We had an amazing time and waking up in the clouds . I would recommend this 10373738 percent !

This property was simply beautiful. 700 acres of lush green valleys, a bubbling creek and extensive forest. I had an entire valley to myself, also sharing with the cows, horses, kangaroos, frogs and many curious insects. John was an absolute legend, took me for a cross country motorbike adventure to show me around his property. Although it was raining a lot I enjoyed spending time bathing in the creek, sheltering under trees, and talking to the many animals. If I were to buy a farm it would be something like this..
