Every inch of the bathroom is custom in rustic greens and browns, and is fully stocked with everything you will need for your stay. The gorgeous green tiled shower is a perfect place to wash off a day of outdoor adventures or relax and spend a few more precious minutes in the steam. Did you forget to bring shampoo, soap, toothpaste, or anything else? No worries, all of these are provided and complimentary. As you venture your way up the Treehouse steps you are welcomed into your charming and relaxing loft retreat. As you lay in the queen size luxury bed you can look out the supersized skylight to watch the tree canopy and the stars or wake up to some sunshine on your face. More Detailed Description: Raven's Retreat is a beautiful, 58 acre property located in the Hocking Hills, 2 miles east of Laurelville, Oh. This land has remained mostly untouched and was purchased due to its resemblance to the deep woods of West Virginia, home to Raven's mother, Lisa Mahaney. The property is dear to us and we do everything we can to protect and maintain it in its natural state. It contains 4 creeks, hiking trails, a pond, and the top of a ridge. There are several endangered species including whippoorwills and two lined salamanders that reside at Raven's Retreat. There is an abundance of wildlife present due to keeping this property as wild as possible. While no hunting or fishing is allowed, wildlife viewing stations have been setup for guests to observe the creatures and we are working with local environmental specialists to ensure that we maintain a thriving, healthy place for them. We do our best to keep the human traffic on the property low but we want people to feel free to explore our challenging trails. There are about 2 miles of Hiking trails on the property that are not heavily traveled. The elevation change from the top of our ridge to the deepest part of our creek bed is over 220ft. If you plan to hike our trails, please keep strong scents such as perfumes to a minimum. This is often overlooked, but it can be confusing and disturb the wildlife. We greatly respect our water, and have natural springs here on the property. More important to us is that our guests have a quality experience rather than flooding the woods with a lot of people. If you want to venture out, there are also many famous parks with hiking trails in the area, such as Rock House, Conkles Hollow, and many other Hocking Hills State Parks. Quiet hours are to be honored and kept when the sun goes down. A respectful noise level is to be kept in consideration for our neighbors and nocturnal animals. 💡 Please note, we do consider the effects of light pollution and use particular lights to lessen our impact on the night creatures. Please do not bring your animals with you if you are staying at Pollinator Cabin here at Raven's Retreat. We love animals but in the past, domestic animals such as dogs and cats have attacked our wildlife more than once so we ask that they do not come with you to this particular space. Domestic animal friends are welcome to come to our campsites, but must be tied out or on a leash while at the campsites or while hiking through the woods. No domestic animals are permitted to be off a leash in the woods on the property. There are endangered species present here. Our space is for all peaceful people and we recommend the mentality of, "we're here together, so let's learn to live well together." Our farm has been in the family for over 50 years. My Cherokee grandmother purchased the farm with the intention of giving each of her children property. We have been raising bison here since 2008. We chose the name Cherokee Valley to honor my heritage and the gift of this farm by my grandmother and mother. We created this tipi experience to share that gift with you! Enjoy a night in our spacious 22 foot tipi. We provide a comfortable queen platform bed for your convenience. Our accommodations range from primitive tent-camping to "glamping" in one of our tiny off-grid cabins. The sites are spaced out for privacy and each site offers a private picnic table and fire pit. There are two shared privies/outhouses which have basic composting toilets. A grassy parking area is provided near the road, however, ALL SITES ARE WALK-IN ONLY. Greenfield (5 miles north) is the nearest town and has two grocery stores, restaurants, a bar, hardware, gas, etc. Bainbridge (7 miles south) has gas, hardware, a couple of restaurants, dollar store, amish businesses, etc.

Located only 8 miles from Hocking Hills State Park, Altenbrauch Farm features 62 acres of open fields, small streams and wooded hills intersected by a lonely country road.  Aside from our house, there are no neighbors in sight.  Easily pitch your tent in an open field or trek through the hills and hollows to find your perfect campsite.As part of Ohio's famous Hocking Hills Region, Vinton County is home to the second largest state forest, in addition to multiple state parks and wildlife areas. You’ll encounter abandoned historical sites and relics dating back to the early 1800s, hidden away among the wooded hills of Ohio’s least populated county. If you're a lover of outdoor recreation, this is the place to be. Within about a half-hour drive, there are many opportunities for hiking, biking, horseback riding, kayaking, hunting and fishing, and birding.  Nearby parks and forests include Hocking Hills State Park, Hocking Hills State Forest, Lake Hope State Park, Zaleski State Forest, the Moonville Rail Trail, Lake Alma State Park, Tar Hollow State Forest, and more!Set up camp wherever you like!  There are 12 acres of open field space, surrounded by 50 acres of wooded hills and hollows with hiking trails and level spots to pitch tents. Vehicles can be driven to the field sites; we are still working on a road to access the hill sites by vehicle.  The fields have about a dozen "permanent" sites with stone or metal fire rings and log seating.  Portable fire rings are also available that can be moved anywhere.  Dead wood for campfires is free to gather, or split firewood is available to purchase for $5/bundle. A toilet and solar shower are located at the center of the property. An outdoor water spigot is also available. Guests are expected to follow the "Leave No Trace" principles. Any trash packed onto the property must be bagged and taken with you.

(easy access from 33 and to Logan) There are various places around the property to pitch a tent. The main valley camping area with electric and wifi is not being advertised this year, and will only be made available under certain circumstances. I can transport you and your gear to the remote site, or you can borrow the garden tractor and trailer. ATV's are also welcome on the property. Firewood will be provided for free and in abundant amount. The site on top of the hill is very secluded and surrounded by dogwood trees. The site above the rxrwinery.com is also secluded, mowed clearing in the mature woods. While on my property, Clothing is optional. If you are traveling with an RV, message me for special consideration.

Featuring nearly 10,000 acres of forest land, it will be hard not to notice the colorful outcroppings of trees in the fall and the stark rocks found year-round. Park your beat up Chevy in the parking area off of Big Pine Road, then get down to work on rappelling the rocks and cliff face with your ideal climbing partner. With an additional 60 miles of hiking and 40 miles of bridle trails, it may take more than just a couple days to explore this expansive gem.

When to go

The best times to visit Hocking State Forest are during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the foliage is either blooming or showcasing a vibrant array of colors.
