Not sure it gets any better than that. A feeling of being truly away from it all in a place with access to water and walks and all the basic facilities you need. Will be back again… and again.
We had a fantastic stay at Platypus Flat and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. The campsite is exactly as described—peaceful, private and the perfect place to switch off for a few days.
Falling asleep each night to the sound of the Hollanders River was an absolute highlight, and waking up to such a beautiful setting each morning made it even better. Sitting around the campfire in the evenings with the river as the backdrop was incredibly relaxing and a great way to finish each day.
Danny was great to deal with, and his property information, directions and arrival instructions were spot on, making everything easy from start to finish.
We stayed in early July, so be prepared for cold nights—it dropped to around 0°C while we were there. With a good campfire, warm sleeping bags and the right gear, it made for a fantastic winter camping experience. The days were sunny and pleasant, reaching the mid-teens.
If you’re looking for a quiet riverside campsite where you can truly unwind and enjoy nature, Platypus Flat is hard to beat. Thanks again, Danny, for sharing your beautiful property with us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back.
Very private. Great spot. Toilet well kept for a pit. Danny is amazing bloke. Lovely river by the site. You will need an AWD in the wet.

We had a great time camping at Rhapsody. The large firepit was lovely to have in the cold and helped us dry off after a long exploring walk.
Would love to come back here and see what else there is to see!

The camp site is very wide and open which allowed us to fit multiple cars and trailer.
The facilities are well kept.
There is a designated fire pit so we didnt need to bring any portable fire pit.
Danny was great to communicate with and made sure everything was okay during our stay here.
Highly recommend to camp here!

Dannys place was incredible, well kept grounds and facilities. The place was beautiful and both families had a great time. Would recommend this place to any family who is looking for a relaxing trip in the outdoors. Plenty of trout for those that are keen! Thanks Danny
A very big thanks to Danny for extending his hospitality to enjoy the tranquility of Rapsody. An amazing location and a great time had by all. The property is as described picturesque and remote, a perfect place to disconnect and relax or get amongst the great out doors. The directions provided where easy to follow with no issues entering or exiting the property. How many times can you say "how's the serenity" in one week end. This was our first stay and will definitely be wanting to come back again.
What an awesome spot, we absolutely loved walking along the river bank and exploring with our dogs. We had a cold night in our roof top tent but the view and sounds of the wildlife was absolutely worth it. Would absolutely recommend the stay. Beautiful haven, out of the city, your own slice of bush.
Honestly one of the beat camping spots ive been in nsw my opinion by a river it was amazing got 2 clear nights full of stars. Campfire raging for 2 days cold shower and drop box done the job honestly if you want privacy this is your spot. 5 stars

This is a hidden gem. A huge, private flat right beside the river, surrounding by towering eucalypts, no one but the wombats and wallabies to disturb you. We could have happily stayed longer (maybe forever). Really grateful for the opportunity to visit this spot.
A beautiful isolated camping spot, that easily accommodated 6 families with both tents and caravans.
We loved the naturally contained area, so the kids could roam without getting too far away.
The creek and bush entertained everyone for hours.
The toilets, showers, and running water were all useful to have available.
The directions to the spot were clear, and extremely useful. Access is down a steep dirt road, and we found it easily accessible with a mid-SUV.
Can’t wait to visit this stunning location again.

Stunning! We will be back. It’s a beautiful little spot by the river. The big table and chairs on site are so handy. And having the toilet and shower there makes life easier too. Danny came down to make sure we were all good and he is such a friendly host. I wouldn’t try reaching this spot without a 4WD though.
We couldn’t be any happier with this Hipcamp. Thank you Danny.

It was a lovely secluded spot, where you could hear the river. Suitable for a much bigger group than us, just need to have everyone confident with a few dirt roads (not excessively difficult) and lots of wildlife if driving in the night.

We had a great stay at Danny’s beautiful property. Situated perfectly next to the river we could easily watch the kids as they played in the water and hear the river in the background as we sat around the campfire. Whilst a steep road down to the campsite it was certainly worth it. We’d happily stay again!

Perfect place to relax and explore, looking out over an isolated part of the National Park on other side of the river, and nobody else around. River was low aa hasn't had rain for a long time, but still had deeper places for a dip and crystal clear water. Place is great for managing temperatures in mid summer as the site was in shade in early morning and the elevation kept it cool at night. Drop toilet and shower were a great to have too. Danny really helpful and friendly, and gave great instructions for how to find it. Will be back!

Our second time back to Platypus Flat and it was just as good as the first time. Total privacy, camping next to an amazing river. Easily accommodated our bigger group this time, not even rain stopped us from having a dip in the running crystal clear river. Bring your kids here, they will love it! Or dont and have it to yourself, you'll love it too! Met our host Danny this time and the sizzling smell of smash burgers on the grill was too good to pass up...shared a burger or 2! with the legend and had some laughs...Danny's a great host and is always super knowledgable on the surrounding areas- both hiking and 4wd. Totally recommend a camp getaway here!
If you love off grid, unplugged and back to basics, Danny's place is perfect. Remote, rugged, untamed and apologetically simple, Rhapsody is the perfect antidote to the rat race with no internet or phone reception. A great way to reconnect with nature, your camping mates and yourself.
Great spot, nice big open campground for the dog to run around, amazing views of the mountains and river from camp, highly recommend.
Wallaby is a very beautiful spot, with everything that you need. Like other campers we saw plenty of wildlife including wallabies , echidnas wombats, kangaroos and lyrebird. The river is nearby the campsite, and crystal clear. It was great to have a toilet, cold shower, running water to camp, and chairs and tables. We had no problems with access, we had 4wds and the directions were easy to follow.
Wallaby flat was awesome.
So quiet and peaceful. A great place to disconnect from technology and read and rest.
The river was so clear and clean perfect for a quick paddle or to just gaze at in the hammock.

This place is truly stunning! It is a little piece of paradise in the bush and we definitely plan on coming back. Danny is lovely and was the perfect host. Thanks for 10/10 stay.
We had a wonderful 2-night stay at Wallaby Flat and highly recommend it. If you want a spot that is truly secluded, private, and beautiful, this is it. The property is bordered by Kanangra-Boyd National Park, making it feel incredibly peaceful.
The river is very nice and was warm enough to soak in - the perfect way to cool down in the afternoon heat. While the river wasn’t as deep as usual during our stay, there were still spots deep enough to swim in. Hiking trails are available nearby, though we spent most of our time relaxing. There is also plenty of shade to help avoid the direct sun.
We spotted trout swimming by, and while we didn’t see the reclusive platypus or wombat, we saw many curious wallabies, birds, and rabbits.
For future campers: be sure to download offline maps before heading out, as there is no reception nearby. Danny’s directions and maps are excellent, but try to arrive during daylight to make finding the site easier.
Danny was an exceptional host - extremely friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the land and local wildlife. We had an outstanding time and are already looking forward to visiting again.
