Hazelnut Valley is a working Hazelnut Farm located along the Tyres River. We are an easy 2-hour drive from CBD Melbourne, so we are a great location for either short or long stays. Christmas Holiday Bookings Christmas and Boxing Days are available on request only, we will not be accepting any booking for arrival on Christmas or Boxing Days, so that we can have quality family time. Any guest who would like to book a site to arrive before Christmas Day and depart after Boxing Day please message us via Hip Camp and we can make the site available for your booking. Guests MUST be fully self-contained and bring their own camping toilet. Walking distance to Kinglake historic walk, Cookson Hill Track, Mt Everard Track, Bollygum Park. Visit Mason Falls Waterfall, 12-minute drive to Kinglake West. We have 2 dogs, 6 pet sheep and 4 lambs, 2 blue tongue lizards The farming area is completely fenced in, this is to keep the deer out, but you can venture out onto the property bush land with the correct map and navigation equipment. Our walk the neighboring farm (105 acres) Eagles, cockatoos, black cockatoos, kookaburras, magpies, rosellas, king parrots, Gang-gang cockatoo, honey eaters can be spotted most days and lyrebirds if you’re keen to go looking. Small playground with swings, slide, monkey bars and sandpit. Taxi service - The Graceful-Goat to get you around to the local eats and wineries. The Kinglake market is on the 4th Sunday of each month 10-2pm - Except December which is the Sunday before Christmas - twilight 2-7pm - No market in January. 91 Gordons Bridge Road was once part of a pine plantation that had been planted in the late 60's and harvested just prior to the Black Saturday fires. Across the road from the Kinglake National Park, it is surrounded by protected flora and fauna. Victoria's Pink heath, wattles and tea tree provide a pleasant backdrop in season. It is not an uncommon site to see an echidna or two on the property, with black wallabies, kangaroos and wombats often seen grazing on pasture in the evening. The mud turrets are the home of endangered land yabbies and Lyrebirds have been seen in the area. Feral deer have come to inhabit nearby properties and sometimes wonder down the track. Birds watchers will enjoy a variety of bird life that inhabit the area including eagle hawks, fairy wrens, kookaburras, rosellas, parrots and yellow tailed black cockatoos when in season. The area is a popular spot for hikers with the start of the Mountain Creek trail only a few kms down Gordons Bridge Road and serious cyclists train regularly, on Mount Slide, especially on the weekend. For the serious wine lover the property is within 15km of the Yarra Valley Wine Growing area with many wineries offering tastings.

This experience comes with sweeping views, a hidden waterfall, a clear campground, and plenty of wildlife. The camping area is accessible by 4WD only, otherwise, strap on a backpack and earn it! (800m walk/hike from where a non-4WD can park). The waterfall is reached by a single trail track from the campsite, and you do need to be an experienced hiker to get to the waterfall. Which is part of the appeal! We welcome self-contained campers, who bring their own toilet and take all waste with them. We have a strict Leave No Trace policy. Or choose to stay in our beautiful A-frame cabin, with plush bedding, cozy fire, and outdoor lounge. We had a wonderful time at Susan's campsite. The location is stunning and the campsite is very well equipped with an outdoor kitchen area, a fire pit, an outdoor table and benches and a hut with a table and chairs. The hut was perfect for playing cards while it was raining. Also the campsite is very private. We fell in love with the landscape: green rolling hills, gorgeous-looking cows, and pristine rainforest. Thank you Susan for sharing your beautiful property. And being able to bring our dog was a big +. We will be back. The toolshed at Noojie is a great spot to have dinner. ❤️🐮🦆

Excellent communication and really friendly. The fire pit was a good size and we loved the bench swing near the camp fire. Google Maps was able to find the location but Waze struggled with the dirt road. It was great to take our dog too and my daughter enjoyed feeding the goats!

1 night at Mountain Flower Farm

My partner and I only stayed one night in our swag but had such a lovely time. It was great meeting the family and all the critters that call this island in the trees home. The property is easy to find and is in a great location to explore the surrounds. The two large sites spaced amongst the flowers were tidy and easy to access. Large fire pits great for a group to camp around in the cooler months. The proteas were out in all their glory and the ones we chose to take home made it all the way back to QLD and are still looking stunning weeks later! Thank you very much Tamara and family for a great night away 😊🌱

3 nights at Hazelnut Valley Farm Stay

We had a relaxing 5 nights camping at Coopers Corner (fruit trees). This was our second trip here and will be coming back again. It’s quiet and peaceful here, loved the sound of the river and the birdsongs. All the camping sites are well kept with fire pits and most of them have river access. There are also hiking trials in the hill opposite the farm which was handy.

Also remember to visitors coming to the destination, DO NOT FOLLOW GOOGLE to get to destination as it will send you the incorrect tracks (which will cause some of the bigger setups to get in trouble if you do follow google) and follow Andrews directions to the destination. A beautiful and peaceful spot. Susan was a fantastic host, thoughtful, kind and responsive. I was even gifted some homemade chilli jam and eggs. I spent 2 nights here just cooking on the fire, watching the wildlife by the pond including a wide variety of bird life and a fox. The set up has everything you need- camp toilet, mud kitchen, table and chairs and even a hut to have shelter in the rain. Plenty of fallen kindling to be collected if needed. Will return to explore some of the walking tracks. So nice to be able to have a solo getaway and not have to share the campsite with anyone, but feel totally safe. Just a short drive into town. Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Hazelnut Valley Farm Stay

Fruit Trees was a great spot at the Hazelnut Nut Farm - well maintained, close to the creek, large grassy area. Access was a little tricky due to quite a bit of rain - especially towing a caravan. We had a campfire every night - wood is available for purchase onsite 15kg bag for $22 but don’t buy it as an added extra on the Hipcamps site - they charged a $9 service fee! Which really pissed me off. Otherwise, a lovely place to spend a couple of days.

Silverleaves is a 20 acre block, partially bush and partially cleared. The property is only 40km from the Melbourne CBD and 20 minutes drive to the Yarra Valley. Guests can enjoy the peace of their campsite, watch the Miniature Galloway cattle graze, enjoy a bush walk on property or at nearby Bunjil Reserve or even kayak in the dam. Sites range from flat to gently undulating. Undulating sections can easily be leveled with a decent set of caravan levelers. Camp fires are allowed in season and in accordance with fire restrictions. Welcome to Nanadhong Views. Nanadhong is the local indigenous name for the Cathedral Range. We are located on the western slope of the Cathedral with beautiful views to its peak as well as across the Acheron valley to the Black Range and South to Dom Dom and the Black Spur. This property was previously a home site but was burned out in the 2009 fires. Now being returned to nature and available for camping only. Two dams and a seasonal creek attract birds and local wildlife. A total of 30 acres is available for exploring and enjoying the views. This private location has a single site with power and water, suitable for two vans or several camper trailers, a flushing toilet and further grassed areas suitable for tents and camper trailers. A camp shelter currently under construction will provide somewhere out of the weather with lighting, water and power available. The property is located 30 minutes from Lake mountain where you can ski during winter or hike and mountain bike during summer. Lake Eildon is also 30 minutes away and a great venue for fishing, swimming and boating. The Acheron, Rubicon and Goulburn rivers are close by and suitable for fishing and kayaking. Mountain bike riders can also try the tracks at Buxton or Eildon. There are many hiking/walking options including the historical Rubicon Valley just 20 minutes away. If you are into 4wd’ing or trail bikes there are many tracks in the Black Range across the road or the Big River area.
