Rivers Edge is 24 acres of forest on the banks of the Leven River in Gunns Plains, Tasmania. We are in our own little valley surrounded by tall forests. Preston Creek flows all year through our property and meets the large Leven River where your campsite is situated. Perfect for trout fishing, platypus watching, bird watching or catching the sun setting through the trees on the river bend. There are even the endangered black fresh water crayfish. The site is large enough for up to 5-6 caravans for large bookings, and we only take one booking at a time, so its exclusively yours. We are only 20km to the nearest town, Ulverstone which as everything you need. The road is close by the campsite with easy access to find the property. No toilet facilities at the site. Sat TV is good and limited mobile reception. Telstra works best we've found. River access over a rocky, uneven embankment as it's a natural, untouched environment, just how we and the native animals like it. Campfires ONLY PERMITTED when fire restrictions aren't in place. You absolutely must make sure your campfire is fully extinguished before you leave. Please check "My Trips" (in your profile) for directions once confirmed. Look for the 'Rivers Edge' sign on the entrance gate, then you know youve got the right site and not the neigbours property (which is along side mine on the river) Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept with you at all times, no roaming dogs as the road is close by and we are a working hobby farm with animals. We love the peace and serenity here so please no unruly behaviour or parties.

The site is in a simple, level grassed paddock situated within easy access off a country road, in Mowbanna. 10 minutes up the road is Dip Falls and The Big Tree. Along the way you will pass Blue Hills Honey Farm and The Colony Cafe (well worth the calories!). Back down the road towards the highway is the Millicent Valley walking trail and once back to the highway junction you can walk along several long, sandy beaches or head east to find Rocky Cape National Park with spectacular hiking tracks, swimming and fishing spots. You could check out the award winning Wonders of Wynyard Information Centre, the Veteran Car Display and Art Gallery, the gorgeous walks and scenic drive to Table Cape Lighthouse, Fossil Bluff or Boat Harbour Beach. The Wynyard Foreshore Market is also on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month along the East Wynyard Foreshore. It’s definitely worth a look 👀 Feeling adventurous and want to explore? The Stanley Nut is only a 40minute drive west where you can learn all about the history the town has on offer. You could also check out Dip falls, The Big Tree or The Trowutta Arch. Camping is in an idyllic location beside the Leven River, within a 100 acre natural forested property. The property fringes the Dial range nature recreation area and a nature conservation reserve. Camping is on river flats within a lush green ferny forested and sometimes misty valley, below Mt Duncan and Mt Lorymer. Very nearby there are popular hiking and mountain biking trails. Adjacent to the camping area the Leven River has some of the best trout fishing in North West Tasmania. There's places to kayak along with private river beaches to sit and relax, enjoy a paddle, swim or have a picnic. All camping is on river flats, tent's and small campervans can settle into small grassy clearings within tree's. While larger vans can set up on a larger cleared grassy area. There plenty of open space to throw a frisbee or have a game of cricket. The property is accessed from a very scenic 4 km well maintained gravel road that winds downhill to the base of the the valley. ***Please note there are no facilities. Please bring a camping toilet (there's a dumping point in Knights Rd, West Ulverstone) and your own rubbish collection. Campfires are permitted when there are no local fire restrictions in place .

We grow and process organic certified medicinal herbs and plants. The camping site is located in a beautiful location overlooking the lavender fields, in bloom december/january, with the ever-changing Mt Roland in the background. On days with cold southerly winds, alternative campingsites are available on the farm. Please contact us to find out. Includes use flushing toilet, hot shower and laundry (external access). Approx. 300m from the campsite. We are pet friendly. We've got room for up to 5 separate bookings. Due to shortage of personnel, we can no longer offer the farm tours. But hipcampers are welcome to have a walk among the herb fields. We are working together with other organic certified farmers. They lease parts of our land to grow vegetables. Hipcampers are welcome to have a walk around their crops as well.
