Craigie Knowe Vineyard is a working vineyard and cellar door, set on 20 hectares, with 5 hectares under vine. It is the oldest vineyard on the beautiful East Coast of Tasmania. The homestead was built in 1836 and is one of the most photographed houses in Tasmania. Please note Hipcamp charge an additional charge on top of the $25.00. Please look at our website for options. The cellar door is open 11-4, and offers chocolate and wine pairings, and normal tastings. We also have a restaurant on site open from 11:30 - 3:00 daily during summer. It is a beautiful vineyard with plenty of outside seating. There are also 5 other cellar doors within 10 minutes of the property, so it's a great basecamp for wine lovers! We have plenty of level ground, ideal for pulling up for a night or several. Please note, all campers must be self-contained, with their own toilet, and we kindly ask you take all waste with you. Just outside the property, the Swan River flows past, a great place to cool off on hot days, sometimes there are fish there too. Swansea is 16km away and Bicheno is 26km away. Both towns have IGA supermarkets, bottle shops and restaurants, and plenty of history. Freycinet National Park is 40 minutes, and makes for a great day trip, with beautiful walks, fantastic scenery, and of course iconic Wine Glass Bay.

The eastern side has a cleared area with little private nooks to tuck yourself into. Ocean Drive is asphalt to the front gate, then it is firm, level, all weather access to the camping sites. There is clean and well maintained public toilets two hundred metres away. Plenty of kindling is available and camp fires allowed when https://www.fire.tas.gov.au/fire-danger-rating/ is not a total ban. Keep under a metre, ensure the ground is cleared around and attend until extinguished. Pets are welcome, especially dogs 👍 There are private walking trails on the property. St Helens is under fifteen minutes away, Bay of Fires 25 minutes. Scamander 5 minutes. The famous St Helens bike trails are under ten minutes drive or accessible on your bike via the back trails. Ride direct to the trail heads! There is fantastic nine hole golf course at Scamander. You can cross the river and then you are on the bike track that will take you to Derby or Branxholm, this is a beautiful walking track or carry your bike across river then ride. Wood available for sale at camp to use in fire pits for just $10 a tub. We have just put in a private dump point for guest convince. WildWing Retreat is a beautiful 25 acre bush block, located within a 15 minute (1km) walk, to the local surf beach of Four Mile. The property has been created to host retreats centred around nature immersion, movement and connection (i.e yoga, acroyoga, dance, meditation, mindfuness, embodiment practices etc) and in the 'off season' it's available to host hipcampers! Because the space has been designed to host large groups, there are a bunch of facilities available to use, such as compost toilets, a communal kitchen with fresh running water, solar lights and gas cooker, an undercover deck area, hot showers, and a cedar barrel hot tub (refer to the extras section for hot tub use!). We also have a small stream on the property, with a little waterhole for plunging in and are surrounded by native wildlife. The property blooms with native Kunzea bushes, wattles, native cherries and various varieties of eucalyptus. WildWing is also our home, so we have our own set up, on a different section of the property. This means that we are nearby if needed, but that we all have our own space on the property :). There is a beautiful large fresh water river and waterhole just down the road (15 minute walk, or 2 minute drive), and aside from the surf beach down the front, we are also only a 10-15 minute drive from a bunch of other beautiful and popular surf beaches on the east coast. The whole area is great for fishing, boating, surfing, bike riding, walking and short hikes. We are a 10 minute drive from Falmouth, a 25 minute drive from the St Helens mountain bike trails, a 30 minute drive from Bicheno & Douglas Apsley National Park, a 45 minute drive from the infamous Bay of Fires and an hours drive from the Freycinet National Park. We are passionate about outdoor living and supporting the natural environment and have created WildWing with the intention to support others to have unique and beautiful experiences in nature, while caring for the land they inhabit.

Nearby are many marked mountain trails, and numerous falls. Skiing is 1hr away in the winter. Our camping site is alongside cattle grazing paddocks and the Ringarooma river, and we offer one site only, to one group at a time, so it's yours exclusively. A toilet is available nearby. A gravel track descends to the river with a short steep bank preceding the flats. When the track reaches the river the camping site is just through the gate on the right. One gate and two wire gates may require opening on the way and these gates need to be closed again to prevent cattle from wandering. Electrical fencing is in use and alive - please be careful! Wood for your campfire is available to purchase, $15. I can supply fresh sourdough loaves $6 also fresh eggs $3perhalf doz, and fresh cows milk most of the year $5/2L. Fly fish for trout and cook over the coals for a treat. Welcome to bring your dog along, but please keep them under control.

Many would consider this place to be very remote.....to us it is close to the City only 50 minutes away over the Mountain gravel roads. If you want to travel on mostly sealed roads go through Fingal and PAST Mathinna. Check maps before you leave as NO reception out here. It is 40 acres and we have MANY MANY free roaming animals, milking goats, ducks, chickens, cows, 3 BIG dogs. (The dogs will get out of the way of cars so just drive ahead and the dogs will move out of your way they have big barks but they are friendly) PLEASE NOTE: If you have any issues with dogs let us know in ADVANCE and we can lock them in their yard for your stay. EVERYONE is told upon arrival to honk/toot your horn if you have any issues or need help and one of us will come and help if you let us know! Otherwise we leave people in peace to camp as they wish and where they want. The property has a big guest house that is currently empty, this is where the flushing toilet is for you to use whilst camping if you like. This Rustic country house is also available for hire/rent, there is hot water via a woodfire (takes up to 5 hours to heat up water $50 per wheelbarrow load of wood) with Big triangle bath and a shower for use if you book the house, (3 single beds and a few new double bed air mattresses are available for your less rugged campers who want to come but need that extra comfort or to be close to a toilet at $40 per person per night.) You are welcome to come camping anytime with a range of needs catered to. Sorry no wheelchair ramps, a single step into the house and one step into the toilet too. Pick whatever spot you like to camp upon, by the river, the rocky island in the river, in the bush, just on the paddock grass anywhere. The big house is for you to use the toilet, kitchen sink and feel free to have a cold shower if you want. You can wander on the property connect with us and if you like you can help feed the animals. Pine Ridge has been developed over the years to be a natural park land with a good variety of local vegetation including stands of mature trees. lower scrub has been removed for physical and viewing access and to keep the property more secure and manageable. The vegetation also provides significant protection on windy days compared to many other open places. Native animals and birdlife abound the location. There is a community pergola area beside the substantial water hole which has a small jetty allowing easy access for swimming. There is also a stone barbecue and fire pit area available on suitable weather conditions. There are ocean views from the property's main road areas, which also provide a large area of flatish firm ground with large areas providing easy maneuverability and turning. The property is 2-3km from the main highway turn off that leads to the Douglas Apsley National Park. The corner of the property is only 50 meters from the park edge, with the Parks main access several km further along Rosedale Rd. The turn off is only 2 km from the town edge. It is sealed road except for the last 100meters and in good condition. FIRES. Ok unless a fire ban. GOOD BAGS OF WOOD ON SITE FOR $20. NO OUTSIDE WOOD CAN BE BROUGHT ONTO THE PROPERTY AND BURNT. You need to be fully self contained and there are no amenities. But there is a beautiful lake with jetty to swim in. We live on the property, just a stone's throw from the camp site, so if you ever need anything, just shout out. Dogs are permitted, however strictly on lead only to protect the wildlife and our sheep. If your dog gets very excited around wildlife or sheep, this may not be a suitable stay, since they might come right up to your camp. Please note, that Stringybark is a working property. While we'll always respect your privacy and keep noise levels to a minimum, please be aware that we do work on the land and that tools, building material and other rural property stuff can be present at any time (never on the campsite though). WildWing is also our home, so we have our own set up, on a different section of the property. This means that we are nearby if needed, but that we all have our own space on the property :). There is a beautiful large fresh water river and waterhole just down the road (15 minute walk, or 2 minute drive), and aside from the surf beach down the front, we are also only a 10-15 minute drive from a bunch of other beautiful and popular surf beaches on the east coast. The whole area is great for fishing, boating, surfing, bike riding, walking and short hikes. We are a 10 minute drive from Falmouth, a 25 minute drive from the St Helens mountain bike trails, a 30 minute drive from Bicheno & Douglas Apsley National Park, a 45 minute drive from the infamous Bay of Fires and an hours drive from the Freycinet National Park. (The dogs will get out of the way of cars so just drive ahead and the dogs will move out of your way they have big barks but they are friendly) PLEASE NOTE: If you have any issues with dogs let us know in ADVANCE and we can lock them in their yard for your stay. EVERYONE is told upon arrival to honk/toot your horn if you have any issues or need help and one of us will come and help if you let us know! Otherwise we leave people in peace to camp as they wish and where they want. The property has a big guest house that is currently empty, this is where the flushing toilet is for you to use whilst camping if you like. This Rustic country house is also available for hire/rent, there is hot water via a woodfire (takes up to 5 hours to heat up water $50 per wheelbarrow load of wood) with Big triangle bath and a shower for use if you book the house, (3 single beds and a few new double bed air mattresses are available for your less rugged campers who want to come but need that extra comfort or to be close to a toilet at $40 per person per night.) There is a community pergola area beside the substantial water hole which has a small jetty allowing easy access for swimming. There is also a stone barbecue and fire pit area available on suitable weather conditions. There are ocean views from the property's main road areas, which also provide a large area of flatish firm ground with large areas providing easy maneuverability and turning. The property is 2-3km from the main highway turn off that leads to the Douglas Apsley National Park. The corner of the property is only 50 meters from the park edge, with the Parks main access several km further along Rosedale Rd. The turn off is only 2 km from the town edge. Why not take your mountain bike up there and enjoy the downhill ride afterwards? Sunsets are spectacular at Stringybark and the skies phenomenal during clear nights. Although it feels like the end of the world, surrounded by bush and wildlife, we're only 30 minutes drive from Launceston CBD, Ben Lomond National Park and Josef Chromy's winery and only a 20 minute drive from Launceston Airport, making it a perfect base to explore Launceston and surrounds. You need to be fully self contained and there are no amenities. But there is a beautiful lake with jetty to swim in. We live on the property, just a stone's throw from the camp site, so if you ever need anything, just shout out. Dogs are permitted, however strictly on lead only to protect the wildlife and our sheep. If your dog gets very excited around wildlife or sheep, this may not be a suitable stay, since they might come right up to your camp. Please note, that Stringybark is a working property. While we'll always respect your privacy and keep noise levels to a minimum, please be aware that we do work on the land and that tools, building material and other rural property stuff can be present at any time (never on the campsite though). Please ALWAYS supervise children and pets, particularly in the following areas: -bush and grass areas where snakes can be present most of the year -around the shed where we store farm materials -around our lakes which are not fenced in We're so excited to be sharing our piece of paradise with campers from near and far and from all walks of life :)

The property is 2-3km from the main highway turn off that leads to the Douglas Apsley National Park. The corner of the property is only 50 meters from the park edge, with the Parks main access several km further along Rosedale Rd. The turn off is only 2 km from the town edge. The outdoor fire pit and bath were highlights. Note the toilet and shower are an outhouse and if its poor weather it can be a wet trip there and back. In saying that - not a negative for us.

Such a beautiful location, abby has thought about everything you need to be comfortable. Kitchen is managable for simple cook ups and the bath is fantastic. Be aware that the charging station is very limited for power. Also wasnt expecting such close neighbours. All in all would definitely recommend and would consider staying again!

We failed to follow the directions properly and ended up at Pauline's house. Pauline was friendly and helpful. The track to the campsite is downhill and at times tricky with a 17'6'' caravan but easily navigatable however 20' plus vans may find it challenging. The campsite is by the river and has a fire ring which we used. There is a portaloo further along from the campsite which we did not visit. When camping it is best to drive into the site then easily reverse out when leaving. The only downside to the campsite was that the grass was not cut and the long grass impeded access around the van.

She had a long bath on Sunday taking in the view again. We also loved exploring Fingal and St Mary’s. Great meal that the St Mary’s pub and watched a platypus in the River running past the pub. Great weekend.

We loved that our dogs could come along with us — it made the weekend feel even more special having them there. The space itself was perfect — simple, cosy, and had everything we needed. It was so nice to switch off, unwind, and enjoy the quiet by the beach. The fire bath was such a highlight — sitting in the warm bath in the rain was pure bliss.
