The location is good, only 18 k's from St Helens, so was a good base for day trips.
The camp spot itself was very private and quiet, which suits us. The creek was good for a dip on a hot day. Camp fires are also allowed, so it is a good spot to do some old fashioned camping, and big enough for large groups.
We'll be back.

Great quiet spot with a fantastic little creek that the kids played in. Easy access into St Helen’s and Bay of Fires area and the Pub on The Paddock and Pyengana Dairy. We used this as a base to check out the area before moving to the beach free camps.

One observation - would have been nicer if the grass was cut and there was easy to find access to the water.

We loved camping at Huckaway. It was a beautiful, quiet, spot with plenty of room for the kids to play. The river was tranquill and shaded and provided the perfect getaway from the midday heat. We will definitely be returning.

We camped for 3 nights in our 23’3 caravan with 2 adults and 3 children (aged 7-12 years old). Plenty of space to choose from. No issues getting solar or access to the sky for starlink. Loved camping next to a flowing creek - provides hours of entertainment for the kids (there was 1 leech, but that was expected). There were sheep and cows for the kids to look at, which was another bonus.
Grass was a bit long in the paddock (needs a decent mow, so you have visibility of potential snakes), which was slightly annoying. There would have been a great spot to camp (we didn’t know about until we went for a walk on our last day), down to the front left of the property, that would have been more secluded.
Great location for exploring Binalong, St Helens, Pyengana, & The Gardens.

The property was easy to find with the directions provided. However, upon arrival, the paddock was overgrown with grass up to thigh level. Because it was so overgrown, camp site locations were difficult to identify. The risk of snakes was high. With the tall dry grass, you needed to be extra vigilant that it didn’t catch alight when having a camp fire.. the access to the river/creek was also very poor. No cleared path. With the extra tall grass, hot weather and difficult visibility of where you were stepping, made this feel quite unsafe. This could be a nice camp location with a few simple easy to achieve maintenance. The creek was waist deep in the deepest section but mostly ankle deep. Not suitable for kayaking.

We had such a great stay at Huckaway! It’s a beautiful spot right by the creek and only about 15 minutes from St Helens. The place is tucked away in an open paddock, so the kids had heaps of space to run around and play. Such a peaceful and relaxing spot—perfect for a family getaway!

While we did have a good nye with the family and met another lovely family, unfortunately the site was not what we expected. The property needs to be slashed as the grass ranged from knee high to waist high depending on where you tried to find a spot. The riverside area was so long it felt to snaky with young kids a fire would have been too dangerous. We opted for up on the ridge near the bush line to get some wind protection. This was the shortest grass we could find. The creek access was also very overgrown and not as we expected. A good slashing would probably make a huge difference but as it was we wouldn’t go back.

This camp was picturesque with beautiful views. It’s about 25 mins away from st Helen’s. We did enjoy it, however - the pictures led us to believe there was an accessible river. There is a river but it is down a steep and dangerous bank. You can’t get close to the bank due to the grass being thigh high. The grass in general was extremely long and we were quite worried of snakes as we had young children with us.
As stated, it was a nice camp and we are happy we stayed but I think we were a bit misled with pictures posted.

Our stay at Huckaway Stay was really nice, plenty of room to spread out and give other campers privacy. Plenty of things to do in the surrounding area. The sites along the river looked to be more protected from the wind, but positioning is the key. All in all we will be back and would recommend it to others.

A beautiful open land with plenty of space so even though there were a couple of other campers we still have a descent space. Can get a bit windy. Access was also convenient. i would definitely come back.

My partner and I absolutely loved our stay at the Huckaway Stay. We were very lucky to be the only guests during our stay, so we got to thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere and quiet surrounds. It was lovely being surrounded by the forest, the river sounds, and spotting the occasional wildlife, as well as seeing the cows and sheep in the paddocks nearby. We will definitely recommend to friends and family if they travel to Tassie.
