We would rather talk it down than up:-) Currently we do not recommend SUV AWD type cars due to there lower profile and vulnerability to bumps and ruts. It is doable many do it all however about driver confidence and add another upto 2hours to trip :-) We recommend parking up the top driveway and having a preplanned lift down. BE WARNED The driveway and some tracks are rough suited for 4x4 adventure enthusiasts that like to use there pride and joy offroad gear for what its intended. ps One thing we can say you will never get bogged on our driveway no matter the rain fall as its very compacted despite its authentic rough character. The Secret Gorge site is suited to tents, camper trailers and smaller length caravans. All our other site locations are suited to off-road 4WD caravans and camper trailers. Sightseeing inside the property we have Girard Falls, a 50m deep waterfall, nature at it's best. The only entry into the property is by Emu Creek Rd a gravel road. Emu Creek Retreat is located in the far north-east of New South Wales. We are approximately 200 km from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Gold Coast, 150km from Byron Bay. Tabulam is the nearest town 12km away. Fuel and groceries are available at Tabulam along with a post office, pub and police station. Casino is 68km away and Tenterfield 78km. Once a working cattle property, in the 90's was converted into a camping and 4WD park. Since 2017 has been a family own and operated property, pet friendly, we are using the existing large camping grounds to convert it into a camping paradise. Two properties combined with close to 2800 acres, fronting Paddy’s Flat Rd for 2km and extends 7km to the back fence bordering a 22000 acre cattle property. Most afternoons the local Rikali (Australias Otter) can be seen diving for Yabbies. We are an 11 minute drive to the very popular Main range national Park which has some beautiful hiking trails and is the perfect place for a picnic. We have a great country pub close by as well which is a short walk down a country lane. Pets are welcome but please ensure they are under your control and that you clean up after them. Campers must be self sufficient with their own toilet. Rubbish bins are provided for campers and a treated rain water tap is available. For those who may be into Waterskiing or Fishing Leslie Dam is a 10 min drive away and offers fishing and water sports then come back to your quiet camp away from the crowds. A little further along you will find Girraween National Park renowned for amazing walks. Warwick Hosts the Biggest and Best Campdraft and Rodeo on the last full week of October (Covid permitting) as well as the quirky Jumpers and Jazz festival in July. Steam Train Journeys , half or full days, We have an amazing motor sport venue which holds meet every weekend, cars bikes, vintage, minis, Porsche's, you name it they race it every weekend. Our 17-acre block is just a couple of minutes walk from Woodenbong, a small rural village in northern NSW, 2 hrs south of Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Being in the country we don't have access to all of the telecommunication providers that the majority of Australians have in the city and living on the coast. However, we are served by Telstra so if you have a Telstra account you can use your mobile phone, laptop, iPad here. We have access to a wi-fi - ask for the password (charges may apply). Our advice is to disconnect from the city and reconnect with the country. You can access the great outdoors - all of our paddocks and the Woodenbong Common. I was told that as I journeyed around Australia I would find a place to settle and Maryvale on the Darling Downs was love at first sight. I am happy to share my love for this property and welcome travellers to enjoy the tranquillity of the riverside and enjoy some of the walks and other features of the area. Welcome to She-oak Hideaway, located in Maryvale by the riverside. The riverside is a peaceful place with two large camping areas and firepits. There are 2 large waterholes suitable for swimming, fishing and kayaking. Down by the riverside you will see Water dragons, turtles, ducks, swamp hens, many birds, occasional Wallabies and Koala. Most afternoons the local Rikali (Australias Otter) can be seen diving for Yabbies. We are an 11 minute drive to the very popular Main range national Park which has some beautiful hiking trails and is the perfect place for a picnic. We have a great country pub close by as well which is a short walk down a country lane. Pets are welcome but please ensure they are under your control and that you clean up after them. Campers must be self sufficient with their own toilet. Rubbish bins are provided for campers and a treated rain water tap is available. Kayaks and life jackets are available on request. 1 - 10 Amp power connection is also available on request. Firewood can be purchased for $15 a bag or $20 for a wheelbarrow full. Adult friendly, huge sites for big groups and plenty of space, great swimming and lots of things to here and in the surrounding areas. Some sites are more suited to Caravans as the access is better and some are better suited to campers / 4WD but all can be accessed with a regular car. We have NO road frontage so sites are private, quiet and safe and only 3ks off the New England Highway. All campers MUST bring their own Chemical toilet and shower facilities. A small rest room and shower is available in case of emergency only I run a working farm raising Sheep and Lambs, Chickens, Ducks, Horses, Donkeys, Vegies, Preserves and Jams. Beautiful camo spot! We were welcomed by Ben who was super friendly and helpful! On arrival we told us our camping spot wasn’t next to the river and asked if we wanted to change, which u thought was very nice to offer. Toilet and kitchen areas were well equipped, spotless and in very good condition. The view of the lake was spectacular, as was the little walk to the water fall where you can see streams and rock pools. It was everything we wanted in a campsite! Would definitely go back. This place is incredible. Beautiful, peaceful, and the cows are so friendly, they come right up to the kids. Sarah was so welcoming and helpful. The water is nice and the sunset on top of the hill is beautiful. I will be going back for sure. Next time I will be staying more than one night.

Beautiful drive in from Tenterfield, designated camping areas well spaced, with ample grazed grass to set up adjacent the river. Three private shower, toilet & handbasin rooms with hot water available and very functional. Bagged fire wood was easily accessible from an old horse float. The valley is very picturesque and the varied birdlife associated with the river, ever changing. Watched a large goanna cruise past our site across the river. If the weather is hot, bring some shade set up, as tree shade not available until midday on. Being a working cattle property, bring a long handle shovel, as your preferred set up site may need a five minute clean up. Unfortunately, our stay was cut short, due to the recent weather events & needing to return home to deal with clean up activities (chainsaw work). Would look to return at a future time.
